NPCs wait at friendly arm inn mod?

Was wondering if such a tweak exists? It would be nice to dismiss the old NPCs and not have them vanish all the time. Not ALL of the old NPCs vanish some stay put but is there a mod to send all dismissed NPCs to Friendly Arm Inn? If so how do you install such a mod in the first place?

The BG1NPC Project mod allows the player to send many of the NPCs to the Friendly Arms. Dialogue options are provided when the PC reforms their party. That way you can return to the Arms and pick them up again, should you wish to.

Even in the unmodded EE game, most NPC companions can be dismissed in the FAI and will stay there indefinitely. IIRC, the only exceptions are Rasaad (returns to Nashkel) and Baeloth (waits outside FAI walls), both of whom are EE additions; all of the pre-EE NPCs will wait at the FAI.

However, if an Evil companion is (recruited and) dismissed when REP>18, then they'll leave permanently ... but those same companions will stay where they're dismissed when REP is no more than 18. (It's generally possible to manipulate REP temporarily to achieve this, by first swapping in Viconia or Dorn or Baeloth to lower REP, then swapping them out after dismissing the other Evil NPC.)

Thus I don't understand @OniDaimyo's question - what is requested is already the default functionality, no tweak required.

@Gallowglass Are you sure? Because in my experience if you dismiss an npc in the EEs they disappear from the game entirely. Except Kaigan, not sure why.

In an unmodded game they will sometimes only stay where you left them when you removed them from the party. What is neat about the NPC Project is that you can often send them back to the Friendly Arms from wherever you are in the game. You don’t have to “escort” them there personally.

BG1NPC has a "Wait at Inns" component, but the inn the NPC will go to depends on the NPC. They don't always go to the FAI.

SCS has a similar, but more expansive, component. You can pick the inn the NPC will go to.

Yes, I'm sure. I don't know why your game is behaving differently.

As I said, Evil NPCs will disappear if your REP is too high, but you can get around that (as described above), and anyway it doesn't change the general principle that they can all (except Rasaad and Baeloth) be dismissed and stay put.

Also, in the case of NPCs with a personal quest, it may in some cases be necessary to finish their quests first, I'm not so sure about that ... but even without finishing personal quests, most of them will wait where dismissed.

By way of illustration, I attach a savegame. This is from an entirely unmodded* canonical run, with the game fully completed except for the Final Battle. As you can see, the party is standing in the FAI, and every joinable NPC in the game is standing around the room (except that Baeloth is outside and Rasaad is in Nashkel, as usual).

(* Actually there's one purely cosmetic mod, insofaras I've changed Imoen's physical appearance to Mage after dual-classing her from Thief ... but otherwise, this is all straight-out-of-the-box.)

    That's true.

However, since I habitually use the FAI for my base and stash (isn't that what most of us do?) until after I enter BG City, it's usually no extra trouble to escort temporary companions back to the FAI for dismissal, because I'm likely heading there anyway.

From the BG1 NPC Project (link below) this is where the NPC's will go when you dismiss them (using the mod), once installed, when you dismiss someone, click the middle option:

The BG1NPC Project: NPCs Can Be Sent to Wait in an Inn

    Tutu, BGEE Only

This component allows BG NPCs to be sent to an Inn, another location, or to wait for you when you dismiss them from the party. This component is not compatible with Sword Coast Strategems, but both mods detect each other and will not install components that conflict. If you would prefer to use Sword Coast Stratagems' version, do not install BG1 NPC's version. In the BG1NPC version, slightly different waiting places are used, and NPCs will highly dislike being abandoned alone in dangerous areas...

    NPC waiting locations:

Ajantis - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Alora - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Branwen - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Coran - Belching Dragon in Nashkel or Elfsong Tavern
Dynaheir/Minsc - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Edwin - Belching Dragon in Nashkel or Low Lantern
    Eldoth/Skie - Feldpost's Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Faldorn - Cloakwood (what, you think she'd wait in an inn?)
Garrick - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Imoen - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Jaheria/Khalid - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Kagain - His store or Blusing Mermaid
Kivan - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Montaron/Xzar - Belching Dragon in Nashkel or Low Lantern
Quayle - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Safana - Belching Dragon in Nashkel or Elfsong Tavern
Shar-Teel - Belching Dragon in Nashkel or Blushing Mermaid
Viconia - A cave on the South Beregost Road or Blushing Mermaid
Xan - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern
Yeslick - Friendly Arm Inn or Elfsong Tavern

So...where is the actual mod to download? That is way too much to dig through. And viconia dispears on you if you dismiss her. She does not stay put. I've done this on lower reps too and she's just gone.
