What's everyone's experience with quest and story mods?

In terms of what's available in modding, what recommendations do people have?

I've had good experiences with Alternatives.

    I love them. If you liked Alternatives, then a good start are the smaller collections like Unfinished Business (for BG1 and another for BG2) or BGQE. There are also smaller expansions in BG1NPCs.
    Next step would be some medium mods - depends if you are in BG1 or BG2
    If you get more addicted try one of the big ones (also entitled mega-mods). Mind however that those can take you out of the main plot for a significant time (like e.g. Planar Spehere does in the vanilla game) - again it depends which part of the game you play.
