Can I convert BGII (unpatched) saved game to BGII:EE (v2.0.62.2)?

It's pretty much in the title. I played BGII SoA for a while, then discovered there was a patch available, but did not patch because (as far as I know) I would have to restart, which I don't want. So my save is (I believe) a freshly installed BGII version. Is there a way I can resume playing my save on BGII:EE on version 2.0.62.2 without restarting? Any and all responses appreciated!

I don't think original game savegames are compatible with the EE. There's just too many changes to make that work.

You can, of course, recreate the characters and so on but I do not believe there is a realistic way of copying over your game progression.

Would there be a non-cheat way for me to keep my progress and/or items?

"Cheating" is relative in a game where nothing you do impacts other players. You can definitely manually add all the items you had to a new EE game, but it's virtually impossible (to my knowledge) to create progress from scratch. You'll have to play through it again.
