Can't dual class as human fighter to druid (baldur ee)

Hello !

I've been trying to make a fighter => druid combination but somehow I can't manage it
I picked fighter(barbarian spec) and have 18 str, 17 wisdom 17 cha and am level 2 but somehow the dual class button is grey, why can't I get it to work? I have 9 int and 7 dex but I don't think that is relevant and 18 con

All I wanted was a druid with the immunities of the barbarian rage ._.

Is it because I chose a specialisation for fighter?

Thank you !

Barbarians can't dual-class if you don't use a mod allowing it.

You can only dual class from plain Fighters, Berserkers, Kensai, and Wizard Slayers (but who would want to?).

yes its you being a Barbarian , it was its own class in older game editions but beamdog stuffed it under the fighter kits to save space i guess ?

if you not too far down the line you can restart the game , if you are try EE keeper to swap from barbarian toa plain fighter, or maybe berserker. what ever flaots your boat.

There really should be a "may not dual-class or multi-class" warning on the barbarian page (like there is on the shaman page). Even better would be to just let barbarians (and shamans) dual-class, though there's been no indication from Beamdog that this is under consideration.

with the bg2 tweaks you can install the expanded dual class options component:
"This component will allow Barbarians and Wild Mages to dual-class to other classes. Barbarians will have the same dual-class options (cleric, druid, mage, and thief) with the same requirement (15 strength) as fighters. Wild Mages will have the same dual-class options (cleric, fighter, and thief) with the same requirement (15 intelligence) as regular mages."

Barbarians can't dual-class if you don't use a mod allowing it.

You can suggest stuff to the devs of baldur's gate? Oo It's still undergoing updates?

Also thanks, I did a new fighter druid, worked but was sad to learn that level cap forced me to dual at 6 and other stuff. I come from icewind dale where the level cap is much higher so it's a bit unsettling :x

well now.... if you want to dual you should do it at 7/9 or 13. first gives 1/2 bonus attack , second maxes out warrior HP gain and last maxes out bonus attack to 1... the fighters Thac0 can be mostly ignored since the Druid/CLeric Thac0 Progression is the second best in game and will overtake a 7/9/13 fighter at some point.

if you don't dual at 7 all you get is some crappy Bonus HP. and you could have arguably done it at lvl2.

the level cap for BGEE is 161.000.
Fighter7 Needs 64.000, Druid9 Needs 90.000. you get your fighter level back 37k under cap and even can look forward to one more druid level.

you lose out only 1 Level to a Pure Druid in BGEE and the Dual class works fine, so i don't see why you have to cut the fighter at 6.

As much as I love Barbarians, I'm fine with them not being able to dual/multi.
As for Shamans however, I see no reason not to be able to have a Fighter/Shaman if I can have a Fighter/Druid.

support.baldursgate.com is the place to report bugs and feature requests. Everyone can do that. I just help filing most popular issues/ or issues in case it's hard for a user to report, as stated in http://blog.beamdog.com/2017/10/september-roundup-patches-conventions.html
