Reputation problem. Dorn doesn't like helping the weak.
This is what I expected as well, as it sometimes happened after a reputation increase or when I talked to people with the "good" option. Then I noted it happening during fights, and even during some mini-boss fights. Not really looking forward to Sarevok with Dorn choosing to ditch me during.
BUT if this IS an issue with reputation or my choices, then Dorn shouldn't be asking if I want him to leave!! Especially when then he tells me that uncertainty is for the weak. He doesn't complain about helping the weak or about his dislike for the progression. He plain and simple, just leaves. This can't be anything but a bug, and a pretty horrible one at that. I even had to reload a fight 3 times due to him just randomly stopping and talking to me during the fight about me supposedly asking him to leave. Ridiculous.
"You want me to leave?" - seriously? That's it? Some bad-ass half-orc who has made a deal with daemonic entities just saw you save some slave-miners, and the only thing he has to say is, "You want me to leave?" Most iconic (and comic) the multiple-choice answers: "Naah, I was just testing you." So next time you'll see the miners you slay them, or what?
This isn't going down. I can convince Dorn to stay in my reputation 20 party every time with some cheesy line. There should be some "breaking point" dialogue implemented for Dorn, that will make him attack you once you hit 19.
Dorn keeps trying to leave my party as though I had dismissed him. Dialog and everything. Only I am not doing it. It seems to happen when I am changing spells on a character but not always. It also happened when I turned in the Melicamp quest at high hedge. I don't think these actions are related to it though. I'll continue to watch for it and update if I come to any conclusions.
I got my reputation above from 18 to 20 upon leaving cloak wood and freeing the slaves. Dorn was then removed from my party and I immediately entered conversation with him. Instead of his conversation being that he is leaving, he asks why I booted him from the party and then I let him rejoin.
I am wondering if this is a bug or not? If so, should I been keeping Dorn in my party in my current playthrough? If he is going to leave when a patch comes then I don't want to waste xp on him. :[
@Tokie this is definately a bug, he leaves the party as he is supposed to but his speech for leaving is the same as when you eject him yourself, so you can choose to change your mind and not eject him when he ejects himself - most definitely a bug as it makes no sense.
I do. I'll see if its calling the wrong conversation though. Might have been fixed in the last patch, the dialogue happened last in the middle of combat so i didn't pay much attention.
Now that patch 5 has dropped he skips most of the dialogue as just says "Hrmmm. You shouldn't commit mistakes like this. The add up. If you change your mind, i'll be at the Friendly Arm Inn."
Is this his way of saying you've been too nice for me?
My reputation is 12 and as I exit the friendly arm inn dorn just leaves the party without saying a word and I cannot find him in the friendly arm inn anywhere.

That is a real bug, Dorn got Neera's soul. You can fix that by dropping Dorn in the inn - before he leaves, then reaccepting him. This bug should have been fixed in 2012, but earlier saves where dorn was 'infected' with the soul might still haunt us.
