    Try resting

    ^^

And no, I think 'Item Drained' comes up for most magical items like that where the quantity isn't shown

I noticed that too. I used to use that item to charm commoners in houses so I could rob them. Can't do that anymore I guess... Well unless there is only one.

Can you import characters from the original BG1? If so, what would happen if you imported someone wearing the original Algernon's Cloak? Would it work in the original fashion?

@ARKdeEREH While you can import character files from the original BG the cloak will work in the new 1 charge fashion if you do.

Darn you beat me to it :p I tested it myself and I got the same result.

I mostly just use the cloak to charm random people and see what different things they say. Also, to avoid having to slaughter Flaming Fist after Candlekeep. Changing it is a bad move, I hope they change it back.

It's easy enough to fix (if you have the original or BG2), just extract the cloak's item file from BG1, and put it in the override folder for EE...viola.

Doubt they will. You know you can probably just change it (or change it to like 99 casts/day) by using Near Infinity right? Unless you are on an ipad, then well you are probably stuck with it as is.

ZanathKariashi 's solution actually works, unlike mine. So follow it :)

Im no ok with this changes. If someone dont want to use algernon's cloak dont use it. Its an item that is in the vanilla game , and I will mod to make it as it should be.

    @mlitano yes it replenish , 1 charge
  • TanthalasTanthalas Member Posts: 6,738
Eh? The cloak should replenish itself with sleeping. @Avenger_teambg?
  • szbszb Member Posts: 220
It did replenish for me after sleeping. Maybe it has 24 hour counter or something.
Anyway it was one of the most overpowered magic item in the game so I think its good that they nerfed it.

Yep, I just modded it back in Near Infinity. They shouldn't have changed it, but since it's so easy to change it back it doesn't really matter. The only question is why did they do it?

Its a problem becouse when they do this 1 time you dont know how many times they will do somethink like this. And it was not in the patch notes.

ugh...the most you can get it to is 32000 charges...it's supposed to have 65535.

Ugh! Only 32,000? Outrageous. Does it at least refill those 32,000 charges when you rest?

    And thats a problem because???

Are you saying the original was put in this way by mistake?

And if so that the original dev team just "forgot" to fix it in any of the numerous patches?

So it had to be fixed now becuase we can't let people play the game the same way they have done for over a decade?

I don't really have an opinion on the cloak itself, but saying "it's in the game and never got fixed with a patch, therefore it's intended" is a pretty poor argument. There are tons of bugs and inconsistencies that were left in the game even after the patches. I mean, apparently Davaeorn is an ankheg in vanilla. Does that mean that's what he's supposed to be, and Overhaul was way out of line changing that?
  • TanthalasTanthalas Member Posts: 6,738
Whenever a nerf happens there will always be people that will be upset.

Personally, I never used the item to charm people, but I don't think that arguments like "Just don't use it if you think its overpowered" is a valid argument to just ignore all overpowered items.
