Xzar and Monty question

G'day,

It's been a long time since I played the BG and I can't remember most of the quests. Anyway long story short, I'm just wondering with Xzar and Monty if after you clear the mines out (which I have) and I'm now back in Nashkel (spelling) and I was wondering if they leave your party by choice and you get experience points for clearing out the mines? Or do you have to kick them out yourself?
It's just I remember when you first get them their quest appears in your quest log, so it's a quest right? But I've cleared out the mines and they still haven't said anything? Do I have to go back to where I picked them up from? Or em I just going to have to boot them off my team (to grab Minsc and the mage in Nashkel). I was hoping for some EXP points for finishing their quest :|

Cheers.

Booting out Xzar and Monty for MINSC?

Ohh, the pain. The pain knows no bounds. Tell me a story, Monty! Something with bears and gold.

Ah cheers for the feedback everyone :)
Another question, can you store items anywhere in BGEE where they will be safe and won't disappear? :)
Like hide them in a chest in an inn or something?

On a serious note, for anyone wondering why Xzar and Montaron stay with your party even after the Nashkel Mines ... try taking both, or either one of them, upstairs in the Sorcerous Sundries in Baldur's Gate. Then you shall understand. I won't spoil anything further.

@LordSoth Yes you can, containers never reset or any of that sort of crap. Stuff that's on the ground disappears, but containers never screw you over. Good question!

Sweet thank you very much! :)
Time to strip them down of all my magic stuff and hide it away, give them the old boot and re-stock some party members! :P

One more thing about the journal: Sometimes all entries disappear. In that case you need to change the map area, or finish a quest, or get a new (piece of a) quest - so that you get all entries back

That happened to me once. Confused me for a bit until I reloaded.

BTW if you want just one of Monty or Xzar, but not both, there are various ways to separate them, and not just through one of them dying...

I always thought the conversation with Mutamin was one of the funnier ones. "Don't take this the wrong way but, we really aren't interested in your rock garden." LOL.

And again, in my defense I told Khalid and Dynaheir I didn't think those were scrolls of Protection from Magic...

Or perhaps you *meant* to tell them, really, but may have failed to mention it ;-)
