We have half-orc but not orc so half-drow is not illogical.

You can already play a half drow right? Pick half-elf then adjust hair and skin color :)

I'd love to see more races added. But much more than that, I'd love to see the game interactions change (fundamentally, not superficially) depending on your race.

I would prefer a slider control in character creation where I could select the fractional amount of Drow genetics I had, with a range of 1/16 to 15/16 in 1/32 increments.

How would each variation stand out or differ beyond cosmetics?

Speaking of half-races, why not half-halflings (quarterlings?) or half-dwarves?

@PeteAtoms The Blood Quantum would determine not only color, but eligibility for certain magic school scholarships, affirmative action consideration and percentage of sharing from profits derived from Drow casinos.

As rare as Drow are on the surface, I would argue that half-drow are even more so. For a half-drow all-elf to be born, you'd need a coupling between surface elves and drow.. very very unlikely to happen. Even Drizzt has greater odds of "happening" than that.. and he's against the odds on every single turn.

The drow and surface elves have such a distaste to one another that I don't think they'd even rape one another, simply because it would be beneath them and disgusting to themselves.

Humie-half-drow though.. is more possible, yet quite unlikely too. A drow is extremely unlikely to ever want or respect a human. Let's be honest, the only reason Viccy likes us is because we're of divine pedigry. A humie could of course have forced himself upon a stray drow female.. such as Viccy, but yeah..
(Said Drow female would probably sooner stab herself in the gut to kill the child than to carry it to term.. or sacrifice it to Lolth immediately post-partum)

(And Bhaal did not create half-anything unless the mother already was half-something. i.e Elven mothers never had half-elven bhaalspawn)

A Drow Bhaalspawn though, I see as quite likely. If you know the story of Charname's mother, the priesteses, Gorion etc etc, you'd also see that a Drow would be as likely to be there as anyone else.

Yes.. give us Drow, Half-Drow.. and other races (Tiefling, Aasimar, etc.), too, please!!! I love diversity!!!

You realize there is no difference at all between a half-elf and half drow right? Even in 2nd edition, ALL half-Elfkin have the same abilities...the only difference is their hair or skin color (or other inconsequential physical changes with no mechanical benefit). Technically a half-drow's infravision has double the range of other half-elves, which is the only exception to no-extra benefits rule..but big whoop, we all know how useful infravision is, let me tell ya.

You want a half-drow? Make your half-elf's skin black or grey, and your hair a shade of grey, white or light blonde...congrats, you have a 99.8% accurate 2nd edition Half-Drow.

It could be human, couldn't it? In fact, I think I'm more inclined to think it's half-human half-drow, much like a half-elf.

It wouldn't make any sense to have a drow in Candlekeep... At least other, then the stuffed one near my fireplace.

I wanna play as a half-hamster! Your cheeks could act like bags of holding!

    Absolutely! :)

If we get Drows then Half-Drows might make a little more sense... Maybe once they add the sub-races like the site says the game will have them. "Now you can use class kits, new subraces and classes that were previously unavailable." unless Half-Orcs were the entire addition they'll make.

Except you're overlooking the problem that there is no mechanical difference between a Half-drow and a Half-elf other then double range infravision....it's a complete waste of time. Adding Drow, sure why not, Half-drow, no, cause they're already available...just change to an appropriate hair/skin color.

Her artwork is amazing, there is no doubt about that. Still, all that "drow madness" in BG fandom is really boring already... Seriously.

I would also like more drows.....

    That I can kill

But more races are always welcome especially if that means more unhardcoding in character creation.
