Have you cried?

DjimmyDjimmy Member Posts: 749
Have you ever cried because of something touching in Baldur's Gate saga? Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. It will be our little secret. (wink)

I haven't cried but I have been touched by some sad/nostalgic events in the saga(Minsc ending movie, for example).

P.S. As you can see the poll is anonymous. If you want to share, feel free to do it in the comments.

I cried when I realised what ToB was really like

It was a silent cry without tears, when I first time finished Throne of Bhaal and realized that this is the end for the greatest roleplaying games I have ever played. I was like living in Forgotten Realms world so the feeling was same when finishing a very good book: Back to the boring reality again...

You know I'm actually quite a crier with books and movies; but I don't believe I've cried with Baldur's Gate. I've laughed so hard I couldn't breath a few times (when I first saw the bit with the novice adventurers in Abazigail's Lair I almost hurt myself laughing...) and I've screamed in frustration a time or two, but I honestly don't remember tears.

The ending cutscenes have a way of getting to me. Especially seeing all those faces of the people I knew fly to the screen and fade away... I can't really explain why, it just happens.

I don't think I've ever physically cried, but...

Once Yoshimo died and there was no way to bring him back, I felt a part of myself die with him. ;_; Also, when your loved-one becomes a vampire and you're forced to kill her.

I got a little teary-eyed at the end of Viconia's romance, during her epilogue.

Hell, I'm getting a little teary-eyed just thinking about it!

I cried a little bit when WereBears invaded this site. Other than that, no.

The only game that's ever had me weepy were some select scenes peppered throughout Mass Effect 3.

The Baldur's Gate saga has made me teary-eyed at some points, yes. I'm not ashamed to admit that; I'm one emotional manbearpig.

Edit: But with that said, I don't think the games has made me cry outright.

I don't recall Baldur's Gate making me cry at any point, but I certainly have cried over scenes in games and books.

In Baldur's Gate, there really isn't any loss that can not be fixed except for one traitorous NPC. Death in the series has no meaning except as a plot advancement with some characters. It isn't a tragedy like some other games (Mass Effect Series, L.A. Noire) so there isn't many places where you can actually get weepy eyed.

It had potential to do that, but during it's release it wasn't something game designers were focusing on or even thinking about. That only happened after Steven Spielberg said, "I think the real indicator [that games have become a storytelling art form] will be when somebody confesses that they cried at level 17," in 2006.

Nope, not in the slightest. But I have laughed, winced, sighed, glared, snorted, and frowned. So it does elicit emotion. Just not tears. From me.

I start to complain about sand in my eyes at the ending and some instances in bg2.

Minsc's epilogue in ToB brought tears to my eyes. It's a fine bit of poetry.

The epilogue's make me sad and nostalgic - Viconia's epilogue made me almost cry

@deltago I dunno... Cernd, Viconia, and Keldorn's epilogues are pretty sad/tragic. Sure, they don't have the luxury of a cinematic build up like games nowadays, but if you really immersed yourself, they should at they very least elicit some kind of emotion.

For me, I was sad that it was the end to such an epic journey... one that has yet to be surpassed for me... =(

Ive cried at games. Just not at BG. But I guess that if I can cry at other stuff, I will allow others to cry at BG.

For example... I cried at Thane dying in Mass Effect 3. Manly tears though, since he didn't go out like a *****. Then I cried at the ending of that game. Because it was so bad, not because it was sad.

I didn't cry, but there was a deep, quiet sadness when I realized I can't recruit Xzar and Montaron in BG2.

I've never cried in BG. Laughed and grinned and smiled, but never cried.

I don't usually cry at a funeral so no, Baldur's Gate saga or any other computer game won't make me cry.

Ditto. The first 'evil' dream did get a deep sigh though.

I wept for Cait Sith, even though it was just a robotic suit being controlled by someone far away.

Then again, I might have just been having a bad day.

Man, Cait Sith hit me harder than Aeris did. Of course the flow of tears was staunched with laughter when Cait reappeared about 10 seconds later.

When did this turn in to a discussion of FF7 making us cry? However, since it has been brought up, the death of Aeris was probably the most emotional moment for me when it comes to computer games (I played the Windows version of FF7), unless you count visual novels (which I don't for the most part since most of them are much closer to a Choose Your Own Adventure book than a game).

As for the BG series, it has yet to make me cry. However, it should be kept in mind that until very recently, the only part of the series which I completed was BG2 without ToB.
