Yeah. I like some parts of it better, and I will keep that opinion, I think. I really wish someone would make a higher resolution GUI for it, which is better than that (read: bigger) one already out there for a maximum resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels.

No I cannot see myself playing the Oriiginal Baldur's gate again
still have the manual and map plus the Tales of the Sword coast strat guide
Baldur's Gate was the 2nd game I played on my first computer
    it was a amazing experience
but I like the EE version now and will stick with it

Troll vote because my answer is: I keep the original until a majority of mods is converted for BGEE.

As for me, I'll be keeping all my BG/BGII CDs & strat books, just because I hate getting rid of stuff, but I don't think I'll ever be playing OG BG/BGII again.

BGEE is just so much more convenient with the much faster loading, no loading screens plus not having to swap out drive CDs constantly. Not to mention being formatted for modern widescreens (OG BG was just funky as hell with DVI stretch turned on just to fit the screen) which are now the standard for any monitor you buy these days.

Yep, I think I will continue to play both.

Between much faster load speeds and the addition of Neera I see no reason to ever go back. Everything else good is bonus.

I do miss a couple of mods, mainly "ease-of-use" with its unlimited stacking; but I was never in to content mods anyway, so its not a biggie.

    Sorry, didn't read correctly >.<

Probably not - the reason I chose BGEE was becuase it's such a hassle for me to get the original to play on new machines (at higher res in the BG2 engine) so I am not seeing any scenario where I would return to that (unless BGEE becomes broken)

Will I be playing original BG again?

That being said, majority of my playthroughts will be on Enhanced Edition.

Much, if not all of Ease-of-use is available in BG2tweaks afaik.

I have BGEE on the IPad only for now and continue to play the original heavily modded on my PC. I suppose at some point when more mods are available for the EE I may switch to that version on PC as well. The new version of NPC project is really making me concider it. By the way I urge everyone to give that mod a try, it really makes BG better.

I'll still play the original BG, because I'm nostalgic :), and also because BG2 audio was in my native language, and I'm afraid that the BG2EE unfortunately won't be dubbed in more than one language.

I've tried going back to both BG1 and BGT (similar to BG Tutu, i.e. BG1 and BG2 together in BG2 engine) and both look quite primitive after experiencing BGEE!

Since I now own a Mac, I'll be playing the EE version only.

I do have WINE installed, but that drains my battery quicker than a vampire a newborn!

I tried to play the original recently, and the interface just seemed to clunky compared to EE.

Well, I do not have the original CDs, but I do have the DVD from the 4 in 1 pack for Baldur's Gate, however it refuses to install on Windows 7 forcing me to get the GoG version... I doubt I'll play it now that I have the Enhanced Edition as it gives me the same game improved.

No, time to move on, its like using a walkman while you have the option using an ipod..

I tried, hard, to install the DVD BG Trilogy thing on Win 7, even trying the tricks I found on the web. No joy for me at all. Anyway, I'm happy with BG:EE.

Absolutely I will. BG:EE and BG vanilla both serve different purposes for me and I love both. There is something about the original that I simply love. It's raw and, to me, it's harder. If I'm honest even after the release of BG:EE I've played more of the vanilla because of how much I love it still.

I don't have much willpower you see. I just never thought BG2 spells and abilities (dual wielding for example) belong in the first game. Therefore when I play BG:EE I have a hard time NOT using what is available to me and it lessens the experience a bit. (again, for ME).

What I WILL play the HECK out of is BG2:EE. That will likely be the game that makes me not play BG2 vanilla much.

However, BG1 vanilla holds a very special place.

Doubt it. The original still has nostalgia value and a very occasional thing none of the remakes did, but for the most part it's just much too slow and clunky after TuTu and EE.

What I think Overhaul games tapped into and planned on was the absolute rabid devotion to the game series and the individual games themselves that the fans have. And I believe it has paid off in spades. Fans of the original have flocked to the title in droves. New fans have discovered the game and realized how fun it can be. In other words, there has been a total Renaissance for the series in general. Add to that the fact that gamers in general are seeking something other than the formulaic cookie cutter games that are coming out today and realizing that fancy graphics and very little substance don't always make for fantastic gaming, and you have what happened here.

I admit when I first read the title of the thread, I was thinking people were saying "would you ever play the story line again" and to that I'd say that Baldur's gate is one of those types of games that begs to be played over and over again. There is enough variability in the game-play that each play through can be a largely new experience. On that front, i expected everyone to vote 'Yes'. But even the way the poll came out wasn't surprising. People are definitely playing the story over, just not necessarily the original version.

As a side note, the poll should be modified to include 'BG:Vanilla' and 'BG:Tutu' as separate entities (IMHO).

This question is a little confusing. I think some people will answer Yes, even though they will only play BG:EE.

I'm guessing that in a year (maybe two), once BG2:EE is out, all patches are out and the modding community has fully wrapped it's collective head around the new version of the engine, the only reason anyone would have to play the original versions of BG/BG2 will be pure nostalgia.

Unfortunately that would cause a rift in the space time continuum.

I could actually see myself attempting a completely vanilla playthrough of the original BG sometime in the next couple years, just for old time's sake. I don't even know if I'd be able to make it all the way through though. I've got pretty accustomed to all the bells and whistles of mods/EE. In particular, the walking speed and resolution. Playing with the vanilla resolution results in a tiny game window! I started it up a couple times in the last while just when I wanted to confirm how something worked in the original, and every time I'm a little shocked by how tiny the view is. It looks too small to even get a fireball off without half your party getting caught in the blast.

Otherwise I think I'll probably stick with EE.

Until Finch and Indira are available for BG:EE, I will continue to fire up the original.
