@Bossfarm. You shouldn't. The update is quite small actually. Was your game moved from the normal installation folder? Notice that it will check all files before downloading.
Here is what I see - In Windows there is no indication in the launcher that there is a fix and the version is still 2014 so I don't know if the fix loaded or not. In Mac OSX, the launcher said an update was available and then when it started downloading, it said download size 1.8 GB. I stopped the download since I have satellite internet and that have to make d/l that size at night when I have no limits.

You are correct. On the MacOs launcher the screen is a bit confusing. It said downloading then under it said 1.8 GB of 1.8 GB and then underneath gave the time remaining as a few minutes which would indicate it was downloading a small file. It did take just a few minutes and then the launch button appeared so I assume I have the hotfix. Will advise when I get a chance to play later today.
Is there any chance of getting a link to a stand alone patch from 1.0.2012 to the current version which I can download directly for the PC? it is causing some major issues where friends have purchased the game either directly or through steam but the direct purchase version has a later patch release version to that which is available through steam. This just means we can not play multiplayer (the whole point of us buying it)
Unfortunately no--not any time soon, anyway. The Steam platform is Atari's deal. We've sent them the patch; it's just a matter of when they decide to release it. We're sorry that this causes incompatibilities between versions, but there's not much we can do about it with our current agreements.

Ouch. That sucks. Hopefully in the future you might work out something so patches are delivered roughly at the same time on all versions.
I think if someone plays MP, they can simply delay their upgrade until their buddies receive it too. There is no need to delay the beamdog update until Stream closes up.

Somehow could you/overhaul upload the patched files for iPad users to download and put them under the overrides/portraits folder?
It would be easier to upload the whole apps to apple store for just small hot fixes and it reduces the pending time for iPad users. Not to mention this skips the 6 days-approval progress.

Not if they bought the game while the versions don't match...
What about the Blackguard with a REP score of 20? He should also be "fallen" if he denies his evil side over speading help and good word towards the inhabitans of the Swords Coast .
So someone who is great in modifying code, animations etc. may not necessarily be great in producing compelling new story lines or artwork and vice versa.
That is precisely why Overhaul Games have Nat Jones and Madoline Bee for drawing, Phillip Daigle and Andrew Foley for writing, and Sam Hulick for composing. Modders have been hired as scripters.
It is worth noting, however, that scripters are not confined to mindless monkey work alone: They may contribute ideas to the project and they often do. These ideas are discussed with the rest of the dev team, evaluated, and either adopted, discarded, or further elaborated upon and adopted in a different form than they had been born in. Hence, there may be aspects of BG2:EE in which modders/scripters have had a creative say to an extent.
That being said, I agree with you that BG2:EE is a team effort and that Nat, Mad, Sam, Phillip, and Andrew all deserve props for their work. The fact that modders are seemingly getting more love on the boards is most likely due to the fact that they already have a name within the BG community, whereas the guys at Overhaul Games are still "new faces".

Thanks.
Congrats, @Ardanis!
...*cough*
:P
@Everyone else:
Shhh. Shhhhhhhh.
It's going to be okay.
I promise I'll only wreck *most* of BG2EE.
And believe me, these people actually work busily on new content in bg2ee.
Whether adding tons of new content to bg2ee is a good idea or not, might be still a question.
But i personally like content.
