How can you attack a Cambion?

I previously started a thread on the thief's ability to backstab. The discussion there eventually got to the point of identifying which monsters can't be backstabbed. The Cambion was mentioned. It made me remember a couple of trial runs I had with BG2 years ago when the party encountered a Cambion (I think in Irenicus dungeon) and we couldn't harm it at all, and eventually just left. It brought to mind my question at the time, "How do you successfully attack a Cambion?" In fact what would you give as the definition or description of the creature?

Upon first click you should get a message about his shield weakening, and on the second click the shield will disappear and he will attack.
A cambion according to mythology would be the offspring of a human and a demon. In D&D it is basically the same thing. A creature that is half human, half fiend.
Edit: You do need +1 weapons to damage him. But by the time you encounter any Cambion in Baldur's gate 1 or 2(with the exception of the one in Chateau Irencius) you should already be decked out with at least +1 weapons so it doesn't really matter.
He also has some of the stuff that transfers over if you have any of the special items from BG1, so he is absolutely someone you want to kill. And the Sword of Chaos does a nice job on him, as does certain magic spells.
There was originally a third import item planned that was eschewed in favor of Sarevok's sword. It makes the genie's dialogue ("I have something of yours") make a lot more sense.
"Thanks for my freedom, here is the 12 arrows I had of yours. Bye-bye now."
I just trashed his sword and replaced it with something I actually had via an editor. :x
