Ahh, Faldorn.

She was always a complete turkey in vanilla BG1. But now she's the darling of my game. I'm halfway through a game that uses generally unpopular characters, (Garrick, Quayle). I raced through the first 4 chapters to the city to get the party together ASAP. If my character wasn't a cleric/thief halfling I would have picked up Tiax. I'm now grinding through the wilderness. I thought Faldorn would be a 'challenge'. But she's great. Insects, Woodland Beings, Entangle, Lightning, Ankheg armour...
I'm going to use her level 5 Magic Resistance spell to lower Drizzt's MR to 19. And then doom and some insects and some Call lightning. In fact my entire 'Kill Driz' strategy relies on Faldorn.
Still looks a real munter though.

I'm still laughing at that one. You never know, with that 15 Charisma, she might just be a butterface.
And you lose your appetite.
*shrug*
More for me. I hear Druids really know how to Handle the Animal, and get an Orison out of you. I'm finding it difficult to Resist Nature's Lure. She can use her Timeless Body to make me make A Thousand Faces as we form a Nature Bond any time.
Maybe Faldorn has excellent people skills!
"Wow, I slept great last night, how about you, Faldorn?"
"NATURE IS ALL."
"Oh, right back at you, Faldorn! Right. Back. At. You. Say, have you seen Quayle?"
"*grunt!*"

(Obviously I used Google, but hehe, it's a slang I never heard of before.
And the wolf is staring into his imaginary film camera and sighing.
You're right. I was referring more to Comeliness than Charisma. I think it's an important distinction that shouldn't have been thrown out when 2e core rules came about. I don't like regarding Charisma as an average of Charisma and Comeliness. I like the possibility of having a character with great beauty and poor personal magnetism/leadership ability (and vice versa) or with high/low scores in both.
Granted, there is a fair amount of subjectivity as to what are considered attractive traits in different societies and cultures, but those differences were accounted for somewhat with the racial bonus/penalty modifiers (using humans as the standard of comparison, as always).
Yep. Now the only place you'll find Comeliness/Appearance/Appeal, now, is in GURPS derivatives, adult-oriented systems or supplements, and the odd homebrew. At the same time, I think Comeliness was sort of "dude, no", because of the excellent idea, and somewhat terrible execution. I did like the synergy with Charisma, though. It'd be perfect for the characters that I play in P&P games that are attractive, but who have terrible social skills. "He's gorgeous -- looks like Fabio, but ye gods, is he awkward when he isn't fighting." "She's really pretty. Combines the best of her elven and human parents, but she's the last person you'd want to break bad news to Farmer Brun about his son."
But boy, oh boy, it'd make for some hilarious arguments and game table conversations!
It would be hard to implement Comeliness in BG, although it would add some interesting context to character development. It would be interesting to see what Comeliness scores people would give to BG's NPCs, especially the differences in portraits from BG to BG2. I think Viconia went from a 12 in BG to an 18 in BG2.
And this is coming from a straight man :P
Edwin's 10 CHA represents his jerk-ass, d-bag personality. I'd probably give him a COM of 15 (BG1 portrait, that is).
All the piercings *do* legitimately bother me in BGII. Doesn't literally *everyone* have at least one piercing? That's a little ridiculous, haha. I agree with that; thing is, his BG1 portraits looks too sinister for his personality, because he's a wannabe bad guy who actually isn't that horrible of a person by nature, he just tries to force himself to be a badass. ...Or maybe that's the point entirely. LOL
I, like, genuinely hate that portrait. To me that is way "uglier" than the original portrait.
