I thought the term of "tank" was pretty much established in BG and other Infinity engine games for years by now. Those new to BG (or who discovered it with BG:EE) can get confused about it or tend give their own meanings to it.
For the definition of "tank" in BG world, check the Glossary page of this website, which BTW is one of the best references for this game:
Tanks in all cases are someone who can take damage and focus attention on themselves.
The key difference is BG is that tanks can do a lot of the total parties damage. In games like WoW or MMO's tank generally do a lot less damage than other party members for balance issues.
But on a more serious note I don't see the need to import WoW or MMO definitions into BGEE. The best damage mitigation in this game is to outright kill your enemy or render them stunned/asleep. I've found Minsc to be great with the stupifier +1 and dual wielding. Particularly once you get that third proficiency in dual wielding. Besides, its not like a fighter bearing down on enemies in this game isn't going to be the one most likely to attract attention.
I gave Minsc the gauntlets of dexterity for AC reasons. And you find something later on to give Khalied so he doesn't run away all the time. I always have my mages have a strength spell for big fights for Khalied. And strength potions are everywhere. I hadn't realized there Gauntlets of Strength in BG.
Gah..just googled gauntlets of ogre strength. Walked by that lady a dozen times. Feel like an idiot now...Khalied could have used those a long, long time ago. Too bad Baldurs Gate's mail doesn't deliver to Durlags. Something about unknown zip codes. I know a little lady that is going to be visited as soon as I crawl out of the Tower.
I've been using "Strength of One" with Faldorn. I've found it actually to be fairly useful since druids don't have a lot at level 3 they could be using instead (Call Lightning takes forever to cast).

Sorry...back on topic: Be excellent to others everyone!
