Importing the char from BG:EE to BG2:EE

I've been searching for about an hour to find an answer and it seems there's none.

Apparently, if we talk about vanilla BG2, when importing characters form BG1 all characters are brought up to 89k XP, the XP cap from Baldur's Gate, unless the character was from Tales of the Sword Coast. In that case, the character may have up to 161k.

I've recently finished BG:EE as a multilclass fighter/thief having 5/6 levels with 22k XP in each class to the moment of a final save. So, this character is far from reaching 89k let alone 161k XP overall. Nevertheless I'm going to export him to BG2:EE when (and not "if") the day comes;-)

So, it will be great to know how this transfer will be done: what XP will the imported character have at the start of BG2:EE? Will it stay the same? If it is bigger than 22k XP in each class and he'll have a higher level, will I have a chance to put his remaining pip into the certain weapon and to distribute his thieving stats? Or maybe I'll be given an opportunity to redistribute all his proficiencies and stats from scratch till the certain level?

EDIT
Wow, I'm really amazed nobody has said even a word in this topic - the only case on the first page of discussions, it seems. I doubt I'm the only one who has completed BG:EE far from reaching maximum XP so this question should be quite important...

To make this thread more popular I'd like to share these two portraits of a druid I've been using lately.

I hope, we who paid for BGEE, will get some reward at the start of BG2EE for buying and finishing BGEE.

Well, I'm not sure to be honest. BG2:EE is not done yet so whatever I could tell you about what it currently does would be subject to change.

I can only assume, however, that your proficiencies and other skills will stay the same as they were when you finished BG1:EE and you will be given the opportunity to choose how to distribute your new skill points if your level gets bumped.

Since only the DEVs know for sure how anything is going to work in BG2:EE, the best we can surmise. I am pretty sure that the way it works today is that any character being imported into BG2 that doesn't have a minimum of 89K XP gets a bump up to that point. If you have more, great. You keep it.

I don't think it checks if the character is "From" ToSC, because they couldn't (baring removing the XP cap) physically have XP higher than 89K without that. And ToSC caps (as you noted) at 161K, but with the XP remover, you can go higher than that. I am pretty sure that even if you remove the XP cap, you keep the XP you had (more or less) when importing.

I know when I imported my characer from BG1 to BG2 earlier this year, he kept the XP he had in the last save game.

I would imagine that they wouldn't change that formula overly much in BG2:EE as I don't personally see a need. but again, only the DEVS could tell you for sure.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you'll get bumped up. Almost positive that is how it worked in the original.

Well, we do get the stat tomes, there's a good +1 to all stats and +2 or 3 to wisdom.

I am kind of curious how you only have 44K XP at the end of the game. I guess you didn't do much beside the main quest line? More power to you for playing the way you enjoy. For me, i like doing every single side quest and exploring every nook and cranny of every single map. That way I usually end up at or above the 161 cap almost every time. But I can totally respect you going your own way.

    @the_spyder

Generally I explore all the locations along and across, trying to find and to solve any quest available, to discover any existing item and to fully develop every party member.

As the hyperlink in the 1st post shows, I took part in a challenge to beat the game with a whole low-key party in the shortest in-game time (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/19316/minimum-quests-needed-to-beat-bgee#latest).

This experience has been interesting, giving me some new ideas and forcing me to use new methods of dealing with enemies. To tell the truth, this run has been quite beneficial. Moreover, it has brought a fresh alternative to the usual playthrough.

Maybe someone will try it too one day.

Of course, only the Devs can tell how exactly the transition will be dealt with if your character is far from reaching the level cap. And I hope to hear from them.

In a situation when we all wait for the resolution of the legal problem, planning a future gameplay can be a good amusement.

Well, I see adding few pictures that can be used as portraits for a character influenced the attention to this thread somehow:) I'll give more - this time, brave warriors.
