How long would you survive? (spoilers!)

If we're going to do "how would I die", then I think I would be that cleric that Sarevok throws off the roof of the Iron Throne tower in the introduction. He'd capture me when he killed Gorion, and transport me to Baldur's Gate City just so we could have that little brotherly moment together.

I would inform of my father's death to the gaurd (I am hoping it is officer val) then play the pity the card to see if I can get free room and board for the night.

You can't swing the 1 gp for a room? How much booze, exactly, did you buy!? :)

If it was actually me in there and no real powers? It depends on how quickly I can pick up on how to protect myself and figure out the mystery behind everything. Assuming I made friends who could use magic I think I'd get to Sarevok before I finally bit it. If I had managed to score some magic weapons, protection, good allies, and maybe learned a new trick or two I'd definitely get that far, maybe even farther.

I've been mugged twice in my life, one at knife point, and been in five different brawls. The knife thing I barely survived. The brawls, I've lost a few. These assassins I could maybe navigate, but I won't kid myself, that would be mostly luck, a roll of the die. I'd be dead out in the wilderness, with a tendency to drink too much and work out too little being the inevitable death of me.

A little off topic here, I ran a campaign years ago where the players actually role-played themselves. I got this suggestion from some DM guide I can't remember. What ended up happening was that the players overinflated their stats, exaggerating small accomplishments into huge ability scores. One guy, who played football and was on our FBLA, gave himself an 18 strength, because he worked out, a 16 intelligence, because he made good grades, a 17 constitution, because he ate well, a 15 wisdom, because he made good decisions, and a 13 Charisma, because he was being modest. The rest of the party followed suit, giving themselves better stats than most of their PCs. It was an all-out disaster. I ended up scrapping the campaign.

I would return to Candle Keep, curl into a ball, and weep. I would not leave that map.

It sounds like we have different approaches here and maybe we should make rules :)

    1) Some people are assuming themselves, right now, teleported into BG.
    2) Some (like me) are assuming it would be your current self, but having been raised in BG world. (In my example, I assumed I'd have done stuff like practice swordplay or archery instead of going to the gym or nerding out.)
    3) Some are making a whole new you, having been raised in BG resulting in a different adult.

My assumptions was your #1, at least that was clear to me from the topic starter. But I did notice some people take #2 and #3.

Now, being #1, I do not know what would happen to me if Shank or some other guy would attack me. These guys at least TELL me they're going to attack me, so if I'm sober and active, I'll react viciously and try to finish the job. But if I'm groggy, I may not take it seriously and get stabbed to death. It's difficult to put myself in Charname's shoes.

Since you can't reload in real life...not very far.
I would just get a job as a stable hand in Candlekeep.
Better shoveling horse poop then getting disemboweled by wolves.
The easiest way to tell how far you would get ?...don't save or reload.
Now how far did you get ?
