Volothamp Geddarm. drinking, traveling, drinking, storytelling, drinking. what's not to like? sure it may seem like we'll be in the midst of some action (Nashkel, Saradush) but that's where all the good tales come from and hey, we're in a tavern and we'll most likely find a way out of it...maybe...so long as the ale keeps coming. and the fine young strumpets. they can come too ;-)

I think I'd have to go with Aerie. I can take care of myself physically pretty well, so the utility of a cleric/mage would pretty much fill out my needs. Healing, buffs, resurrection, and mage spells to boot... Also, her whining has a tendency to scare off potentially life-threatening drow and her inferiority complex all but ensures her unending loyalty.
