I know given enough time, Minsc will adopt Arie as his new witch, but to be honest, she grates my nerves. i had heard Minsc will also adopt Nalia if she's present, is this true? and will it also be true with Neera?

I never much liked Dynaheir. It's sweet of you to be so considerate of his feelings, but he'll get over it. His hamster is his true love.

(after all, Boo is small and evasive, and there is ever so much of Minsc to search)

Interesting though, with Neera. I wonder how he'll react when she "accidentally" turns Boo into a banana. Guess we'll have to wait for BG2:EE to find out!

I knew about Aerie, but this is the first time I've heard about Nalia. Could be true, I very rarely play with our hamster-obsessed friend...

I'm fairly certain the "Nalia becoming Minsc's witch if Aerie isn't in the party" is an urban legend. It might be part of a mod, perhaps the Nalia romance mod, but even that I doubt.

I've looked through the dialogues with NI before, and the two only have a single conversation, which is in ToB and unrelated to witches.
Therefore, I also doubt he'll ask Neera. I'd be happy to be mistaken though.

If they add Neera, I'd be mightily impressed. Of all the old/new NPC interactions, that one seems like a goldmine of hilarity and awesome awkwardness.

If they don't, that's a mod right there that writes itself.

Just had a quick google, and there are a couple of posts about this on other BG sites. The gist is that Minsc will not adopt Nalia as his witch in an unmodded game, but this may happen with the Nalia romance mod installed.

Not really, he could still prefer Aerie as in the old version; but if she's not available, he could go for Neera instead. That would be an entirely new line of content, well within contractual limits.

I don't think Neera is suitable to be Minsc's witch. Minsc looks up to his witch as moral compass and a dependable, wise and benevolent lady. Both Dynaheir and Aerie are lawful good, high wisdomish characters with a benevolent strike. Now Neera may be a lot of things but definitely not 'dependable'. Also, chaotic neutral.

Yes but he keeps consistency about the qualities he looks for his witch. Then again he goes all chaotic good in bg2 (neutral good in bg1) so he may like Neera's attitude. Only developers know. :-)

@lunar Minsc often says surprisingly rational things and attributes them to Boo. Either he does have significant higher reasoning which he has dissociated to the "Boo" part of his psyche, or that Hamster is one smart cookie.

I'm not sure Neera is witch material, and I doubt she'd accept a self-appointed musclebound protector in any case.
