    For good names I would say look to Tolkien.
    If he was a girl I would say lùthien, but he isn't, so maybe Fëanor. That would be inconspicuous. Of course you can look up sindarian root words and make up your own name.

    so, what sort of function is this? It's not one I'm familiar with*

    f(x)=x (Aneurin Nelson Taylor)

    if f(x)=life expectancy and we assume that your child will have a high life expectancy of 83 (the highest as far I recall) then f(x) = 83

    you know what, let's go with the circle equation, since we can use that as an analogy for the circle of life

    x^2 + y^2 = r^2

    x=x Aneurin Nelson Taylor
    y= f(x) = 83
    r=Baldur's Gate forum, b/c we all know our lives revolve around this and if your a good parent, your kid's life will as well =p

    You could do what I do when I'm trying to name a new charact- uh, a new tiny human. Go on behindthename.com, choose a set of names like "norse male names" then scroll down until something cool appears. 60% of the time it works every time!

    I would stick with Aneurin, its lovely!

    I am a Cornish girl in the US, we named our son Miles Piran (a sensible name, but because we are Phoenix Wright fans, as in Miles Edgeworth) after the patron saint of Cornwall. Who was umm...Irish lol

    Amadeus, Boo, Child, Daddy, Eureka, Furlough, Gamin, His, I, Jansen, Kramer, Love, Minsc, Noober, Odesseiron, Person, Question, Reddit, Somebody, Trent (or Tiax), User, Valygar, Xeus, You, Zavier.

    By the way, if you name your kid any of these suggestions, I do run an affordable psychotherapy clinic for children.

    You could go for a conventional name with an unconventional abbreviation. A friend of mine is called Kit, shortened from Christopher, and my grandfather was Rex, shortened from Alexander.

    This way when he grows up he can decide whether to use the cool name or the sensible one!

    After yesterday's silliness, I'd like to offer a serious suggestion. Pick a name from a family member or a person that you and your wife really like. My first will be either Samuel James X or Samantha Jaimes X in tribute to my grandfather.

    Cornino's idea of unconventional is very good and you can take it a step further. Give a boring old name a new twist. A few random I've seen...Beel, Joh, Phred, Steev, etc...

    I'm sorry, please do NOT tag your child with the name KNUT whether for first, middle or last name. Middle school will be hell...

    And I encourage you to use my "Chief Justice" name test for whatever you finally come up with for your child. It goes as follows:

    If you cannot say the words "Chief Justice of the United States" before or after your child's full name with a straight face and without it sounding like it belongs there, the name does not belong on your child.

    Congratulations on your Parasite...with Appendage! Nine month tumors tend to disappear on their own but you really don't want to see the cost of caring for them. :) The removal is just the first step.

    I second Euler because e^(i*π) + 1 = 0, or better still e^(i*tau) = 1.

    On the other hand, I'd suggest Euclid since φ² = φ+1 and 1/φ = φ-1.

    Then again, 2sin(π/5)=√(3-φ), so I'm a bit undecided.

    Name?? Why would you want to name him, those are powerful and dangerous as far as I know.

    What about the name ELRIC or maybe CORUM. I also thought about CONAN and some others like TURIN or THORIN. And what about KVOTHE??? JON, or maybe JIMMY (JAMES)?? If it were a girl I will suggest WILLHELMINA.
    Or just name him WILLIAM, and he'll have the WANT an acronym. Maybe WOTAN?? (ODINN in german).
