Care to share your characters end game stats/thief skills?
Sure!
I rolled a 90 after a few tries at the beginning and my stats stayed at that level the whole game.
Strength - 18 Dexterity - 18 Constitution - 18 (I'm not sure if shorty saves benefit from 18 vs. 16 con, but I figured it was worth it) Intelligence - 7 Wisdom - 17 Charisma - 12
For thief skills I dumped all of them into traps until I hit 100 then split the rest between Hide in Shadows, and Move Silently. Everything else is still at my level 1 base.
Open Locks - 30 Find Traps - 20 Pick Pockets - 25 Move Silently - 85 Hide in Shadows - 85 Detect Illusions - 10 Set Traps - 100
For proficiency points I went with:
Quarterstaff * Two-Handed Weapon Style * Single Weapon Style *
Cleric/Thief, being my favorite to play, was the first attempt. Fail! Not in execution but got to be too time consuming. Traps and Harm are only way a bg ii poverty run might be possible with a c/t.
BG should be easy enough though. Did it with an Avenger once and a c/t should be easier.
I think the only way a BG II poverty run might be possible is with arcane spells. Successfully ran a sorcerer through ToB. So now doing a run with a cleric/mage but am using scrolls that i find.
I have mp saves of all the ToB bosses and tried to run my c/t through all of those. Was kicking names and taking lots of but..... Then I hit the Ravenger save. Don't try this at home boys and girls. If i had the helm of simmy it would be a cake walk, without i am not sure it is possible.
Strangely enough I got the c/t through Mel three out of four times. Harm failed twice but I somehow beat her down with energy blades one of those times. After the first time I made her run away with her tail between her legs it was game over.
Anyway, poverty is the ultimate test, and i hope more people give it a try! -_-

I think I'll bring this character over to BG2 when the enhanced edition comes out. I always likes that game more and I would like to see what she can do against stronger enemies with more abilities.
it might have already been mentioned but wouldn't a monk be the best choice for this kind of thing?
Monk is hard to solo period in BG1, and not possible to to poverty in ToB. Ravager alone needs +5 or +6 weapons to hit, not sure atm, and fists only go to +4. Actually there are several bosses in ToB that need +5 or better to hit. Would be lots of fun though!
Give it a try lundgrnn. I would love to hear of your progress.
Congratulations, you made an awesome play through of the game, reminds me of (that time waaay back) my Swashbuckler/Mage Dual-class solo, I made like 2938293Billion reloads and finished lvl16 Thief, lvl 9 Mage (no XP cap was needed to succeed), but LOTS of cheese, bug exploit and awesomeness were the only similar things, I think I finished with 900,000 or more Gold Pieces :P What an irony, no?? It was my richest character in all my BG:EE runs :P!!!
Well, I started a Poverty Run yesterday, with a complete party, and named the group "The Five Stickmans (and the Monk, DUH)", now in Nashkel Its very funny. Party is composed by: Kensai Barbarian Thief (no kit) Priest of Helm Sorcerer Monk I will choose Enchanted Weapon (lvl4 Spell that creates a weapon that stay into existence for 24 hours, a +3 weapon ) to kill creatures that need magical weapons to hit.
It would be hilarious to see someone do a no-sleep run with a Mage, get all the way to Sarevok, and cast the two measly level 1 spells they'd been saving since Candlekeep.

I ended the game with 67 hitpoints.
My saves looked like this:
Paralysis/Poison/Death: 7
Rod/Staff/Wand: 6
Petrification/Polymorph: 10
Breath Weapon: 13
Spell: 7
I micromanaged my reputation by using quests and murdering the occasional bum to get the Baalspan abilities:
Larloch's Minor Drain x2
Horror x2
Draw Upon Holy Might x2
I had 5 Level one spells and mostly used Command (It was my favorite spell in the information screen), the occasional Doom, and Sanctuary.
I had 5 level 2 spells and mostly used them for Hold Person, Silence 15' Radius, Barkskin, Spiritual Hammer, and Aid from time to time.
I had 3 Level 3 spells 99% of the time they were used to summon skeletons.
I had 1 level 4 spell and used it for Animal Summoning 1 and Mental Domination (not a whole lot of useful spells for me here).
Give that a whirl if you dare - I'm still trying to beat the challenge :P
