I'm 21 now, I was 10 when I first played Baldur's Gate.
What age! I am run Baldurs Gate 1 somekind at 13-14 years old, and don`t understand what this game is about))) As we know first BG don`t begins very dramatically.
But, when i was a student at second course of institute, i spent many-many days of my summer hollidays by playing in BG2. Still remember those glorious days! Right now, my life is going better again)))) And it is time for BG:EE, but i will wait for BOX version.
@Leronis. Thanks for the laugh. I worked on some equipment in the Army in the mid 70s that used magnetic core memory. Not really computers but a kissing cousin. And I think I just had my first ForTran Flashback in many years. It might not have been ForTran but it was certainly close enough for govt work. You will "live" on in our hearts and minds for a very long time, Eldest.

I didn't have a clue how to play it; I don't think I even got out of Candlekeep. I was used to games like Age of Empires and Command and Conquer... Baldur's Gate was the first RPG I ever played, I'm pretty sure I got it Christmas 1999. After I got frustrated with it and gave up I played around with other RTS's but then I played a game called Quest for Glory which got me into fantasy settings and then Fallout 2 was the first RPG I managed to get into. Then I gave BG another shot and this time I managed to play it all the way through, even though I spawned Drizzt to help me a couple times hehehe.
Yes!!! Sliding in w/ the majority in yet another poll.
I remember those times of OG BG. The mantra of my gaming life was, "Do you need the CD to play it?" Expansion packs roamed the land and DLC was just a twinkle in some future marketing exec's eye. Internet porn was solidly rooted in slowly downloaded jpeg's and covertly logging into AOL at 1am to sneak a peek was nigh impossible, damnable tattling modem noise. Those were the halcyon days.
When I was playing this game at the ripe age of 15-16 I promised myself that I would never stop playing games when I "got old". Well, now I'm almost 30 and I'm still playing, things work out pretty well sometimes....
I'm 18 now but I first played this game when I was 10 or 11. When kids my age were playing on their PS2 and pre-ordering their PS3s I was still playing on my brother's hand-me-down PS1 and our Windows 98 computer. But for some reason those are still some of the best games I've ever played.
I would literally play Baldur's Gate 2 (BG1 was almost unplayable due to crashes) every weekend. I would start a new character and finish the game and almost all the side quests in that one weekend... over and over and over again I did this.
Built (in the 1970's, under supervision of PhD advisors) a wire-wrapped 6800-based computer to control the spectrometer that got my PhD data. BASIC took 30 minutes to load from paper tape (which had a glitch about 25 minutes in and often failed to load). We got a floppy as soon as we could afford it.
I'm sure there are older lurking. For similar polls in Dragon Age threads, 70's was not unusual.
25 currently. I was 15 when I first got my hands to BG2 which I heard from a high school mate back then. Had mostly played Diablo and Final Fantasy type RPGs before that and I remember it was really mind blowing to play game in which the player had so much influence over the whole setting and characters. It totally changed how I view games. I got the original BG about two years after that.
Canst thou, O partial sleep, give thy repose To the wet sea-boy in an hour so rude, And in the calmest and most stillest night, With all appliances and means to boot, Deny it to a king? Then happy low, lie down! Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.
I'm 22. I think I first played the game when I was around 12 (or at least sometime close. My friend at the time introduced me to it) I've been hooked ever since.
Similar to your telling Leronis you were not the oldest here. Passing the crown, with a little flair. Kudos on recognizing Henry IV. I had to google it to get it right, and to know where it came from.

Never got the chance to play BG1 so this Enhanced Edition has me super pumped to be able to complete the whole story.

Worth it.

It's the game that really got me into PC gaming and it's the game that I keep going back to over and over again.
I'm 25 years old
