#7267 [CORE] - Leaving Brynnlaw by boat

edited December 2013 in BGII:EE Bugs (v1.2.2030)
So.. before entering the Asylum I had words with the pirate lord who told me no, naturally I killed him and moved on.

After clearing the Asylum and retriving the horn the disembodied voice of the pirate lord confronted Saemon Havarian and now Saemon wont leave the Vulgur Monkey.

Does anyone know a work-around? I don't want to use the portal.

I'm having the exact same problem, I'm also wanting to avoid using the portal

I found a workaround on some other forums http://www.sorcerers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=23231

Go to the spot in front of the Pirate Lord's ship (it is guarded by one pirate).

    Activate the console.
    Type this in the console:
    CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("StealShip","GLOBAL",1)

If Saemon doesn't appear after this, then issue this command:
    CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("PPSAEM3")

I didn't have to do the first part, just spawning him on the ship made it continue like it should

I actually registered earlier to ask about this exact bug. I'll try out your fix

That did the trick, thanks Rhakyr <3

Strange killing the pirate lord twice though ;)

Hmm, I can't seem to get the console to work. Might be the portal for me then :(

Console instructions are in the sticky at the top of this forum.

Right, so this is after the Spellhold portion, when I'm trying to get to the Sahaugin city via Saemon and the pirate lord's ship. So when I get the horn from Calia's (I think that's her name) and bring it to Saemon at the inn, the screen fades out, making me think we're going to the ship to have a big to-do with the pirate lord and his cronies.

But nope! The screen comes back, we're still at the inn, yet the pirate lord/saemon dialogue happens anyway....and then nothing. No pirates, everyone at the inn is cool with hearing this disembodied voice, and going outside to check at the ship does nothing. Tried closing/reloading to no avail.

Sooooo....a bug. Anyone else manage to get to the Sahaugin city? I could likely still take the portal to the underdark but I'd rather do this instead.

Merged topics. @moist_manwich, see the above posts on how to possibly resolve the issue you are having. :)

This was a big disappointment for me. This was a well known and frequently occurring bug in the original release. Amazed that this slipped into the EE.

I managed to use the console to get out of Brynnlaw.

Same problems here, the Saemon - Pirate Lord dialogue happens in the Vulgar Monkey although the Pirate Lord is nowhere to be seen. Then you cant talk to Saemon and the Guard of the Pirate Lord's boat has nothing useful to say.

I don't see a tracking number assigned to this one, so I assume that you're looking for more information on it. Attached is a saved game (note that it is multiplayer) where this bug is about to trigger. The party is outside the inn with the horn. Saemon is not at the dock, but instead still inside the inn. Go into the inn and speak to him to trigger the broken conversation between Saemon and the Pirate Lord.

Edit: CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("PPSAEM3") fixed the problem. CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("StealShip","GLOBAL",1) was not necessary (in this particular case).

Agreed.. luckily I always use Perths wardstone to enter Spellhold and never visit Desharik anyway until he shows up at the ship. *^_^*

I always go along with Saemon's plan in the hope that I'll get the chance to kill him. Some day...

I didn't kill the Pirate Lord before going into Spellhold. I asked him about entrance but chose not to try to convince him that I was a deviant, so he sent me away. I got the wardstone from the former Cowled Wizard (by force) and entered Spellhold. While leaving Spellhold I accepted Saemon's offer to sail me off the island; he ported me out of Spellhold and then told me to meet him in the Vulgar Monkey. I did, and he explained that he needed to steal a ship and needed me to get the horn.

At this point, I honestly don't recall whether he left the VM or stayed. I assume he stayed, since he was there later. It it possible that he might have been trying to leave and been blocked by my people also trying to leave; I honestly wasn't paying him any attention.

After getting the horn I look around on the docks and didn't see him. I was confronted by the Pirate Lord, we fought, and I defeated his forces. I think the Pirate Lord was among the casualties, but I'm not certain. The fight wasn't really a challenge, so to be honest I sort of zoned out while my people auto-killed all the red stuff. There was a corpse with +1 leather armor and a magic sword of some kind, which I assume the Pirate Lord dropped.

When Saemon could not be found on the docks I started searching the rest of the town, and when I popped into the VM he was there.

Placing him outside fixed the problem, so my guess would be that the fix is to make sure that after his conversation where he sends the party to go get the horn he is removed from the Vulgar Monkey and placed by the Pirate Lord's ship.

@Gate70, I backed up to an older save and progressed to the point you requested.

To experience the correct behavior: Load the save, enter the Vulgar Monkey, speak to Saemon. After the conversation, wait until you see him move to the door and disappear, then exit the Vulgar Monkey. Saemon will now be waiting by the Pirate Lord's ship as expected.

To experience the bug: Load the save, enter the Vulgar Monkey, approach Saemon only with the main character (Sinjin, who is wearing boots of speed in this save to make the bug easier to demonstrate), speak to Saemon. After the conversation, quickly exit the Vulgar Monkey before Saemon. If you check the Pirate Lord's ship, Saemon will not be there. If you return to the Vulgar Monkey, Saemon will be standing wherever he was at the instant you exited.

I did all of this, the CLUAConsole thing, spawned Saemon on the boat, and all. But the horn disappeared out of my inventory after the glitch in the inn occured. Any way I can get it back?

    -**Edit**-
Got it fixed. If the horn disappears from your inventory, use the CLUAConsole and put in: CLUAConsole:CreateItem("MISC9G") to get the horn back in your inventory.
