Durlag's Tower Level 2 (spoilers?)

Hey guys,

I am not sure if this is in the right place, since as you see I am brand new to the forum.
Anyway, I am stuck at level two of Durlag's Tower. I've read walk throws, I've watched walk throws, I've contemplated throwing my computer out the window... but neither of that has helped.

What happens is that I get down to level two
Get into the room with all the statues, get the stuff, twist what needs to be twisted, get into the second room. (bedroom). There I pick up the first rock thingy and get the doppelgänger when the secret passage opens. After that you are supposed to pick up two more stone thingies and get the second secret passage to open (the one that leads into the room with the dummies). Instead the main door to the room with the dummies opens.
I figured okay, fine. That's exp I will not get, but whatever, I will survive. Go to the dummies, get the stuff from the dummies. Put the rock thingies into the proper dummies (have shuffled them around too with no effect). At this point the walk through shows that another door is supposed to open. However, it does not.
I have no idea what to do next.

I have been past this around 10 times. At this point it takes me 15min to get to the point where I am stupidly staring at the screen.

The sound of locked doors is haunting me.

I know I can turn around and leave, but at this point it's a point of pride to get this thing open!!!

This came out kind of lengthy... but someone PLEASE HELP!!!

I seem to recall attacking one of the dummies.

Hm they appeared friendly for me, so I haven't tried to yet. But it's something I guess.

    Worg, you are my hero!!!

No prob. I keep getting stuck there and I have finished Durlags tower many a time. Oh, and have different saves for each level, I think the slime on level 3 can stop you from finishing the tower if you do not kill it correctly because of a bug.

Thanks for the tip! Will make sure to do that. Although I am still stuck on lvl two. The four guys in one of the room that I am supposed to kill are giving me a hard time. The trusting person that I am, I walked right past them the first 3(?) times. And then when I realized there was nothing to do but kill kill kill well... now they attack me all at ones and I don't know what to do with them.
I've been trying different combinations of spells and stuff, but it's not working out too well.

    Any suggestions?

I am not sure which room you are referring to, but if it is the throne room where you meet "Kiel" zone of fresh air cleric spell helps. and keep in mind you don't have to send your whole party just one character into the room and rest wait near the stairs.

Nah the Throne Room was easy
I am talking about the room that is right after (or before depending on which way you go) the room with the fake stairs and the door to the next level (presumably, I haven't been their get). These guys don't cast anything. They just kill you.
Some advice I got previously was to get them out of the room one at a time and deal with them that way. But because I've already seen them all, they attack me all at once.

This is the dwarven doomguard. You don't need to kill them. They only attack if you attack them or you steal from the chests either side of Kiels death bed.

If you really need to kill them, I advise standing at one end of the room. Send in one of your team buffed up against fire. (A couple of fire resistance potions should do) and then layabout them like a mad man.

I liked to send in my main character with the ring of fire resistance and the gift of peace helmet plus a glug of fire resistance potion, then repeatedly smashed them with hold person spells and fireballs. I glitterdusted them as well just to make them a little easier to hit...

They died. I then equipped the flail and promptly went beserk and killed my entire party... but hey thats how life goes down at the bottom of Durlags...

I think you do need to kill them because that somehow opens the last door. I am not sure what it had to do with to be honest. Just at one point half way through the fight I noticed that the door got opened. But then half my party died so I had to reload.

    You are right. My mistake!
Didn't need to kill them after all.

Hey, So I think I am almost at the point of having to worry about the slime and the right way to kill it. Could you elaborate as to what I should do?

Well, to tell the truth, in my last playthrough I decided to cut it into 5 pieces so each of my party members would get 3000xp, I saved afterwards and could not finish Durlags tower so I never overcame the bug. As far as I understand the bug owever, you have to kill it without it multiplying, so the killing blow must be fire. If you use weapons it will multiply and the game will not allow you to proceed because the original slime did not die in a way the game recognizes or something.

Hm interesting... My Slime didn't multiply despite the fact that I didn't use fire. Maybe they fixed it. Or maybe it died before it had the chance it. It was very easy to do.

But the air guys seemed to have multiplied. Or at least there were varied number of them depending on the try (took me several times). Think that will be a problem?

How do you know that you can't move on? Or rather when do you know this?

If you cleared all four rooms and you didn't automatically get teleported, that's when you know you can't move on.

In the event that you don't get teleported to the next level you can use this CLUA console command:

    CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("DMWWFissionBurn","GLOBAL",1)

It fixes the bug with the fission slime but I'm pretty sure you need to use it prior to clearing the last room or it won't work. Was just at this point myself and had to scour the interwebs to find the fix but it worked like a charm for me.

Is this level either with SCS or without it, still bugged?

There is some other (locked) thread about it here https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/231/bugfix-durlags-tower-level-3-no-teleportation-to-chess-room

I killed all in this level twice over but I still won't get teleported...

Only command above did fix it for me (upon re-entering any chamber).

Don't worry, @Khal . Durlag's Tower gets in the nerves of everyone on the first run. :)
