@Dragonspear True, but *he* knows who he's working for. I'm sure in his way he sees himself as being just as loyal as anyone. His duplicity is part of his duty. There were plenty of (primarily female) characters who bought Bond's routine for just as long as he wanted! Littlefinger, on the other hand, is pure self-serving evil. NE or maybe LE because he's afraid of the big boys (and girls).
I leave it as an exercise to the reader to figure out how to squeeze 9 or more members into an Infinity Engine party. Plus a bunch of other issues with alignments, races, class restrictions, etc. :-)

Like Sam as part Druid, best fit for the gardener in him. Especially after the Scouring. I'd possibly suggest switching Merry & Pippin's classes... Pippin is the more flippant, whilst Merry is slightly older and a little more aware of what's happening. They probably both end up being genuine fighters by the finish. So maybe dualled from Bard/kits since we're breaking rules anyway!
(As an aside: Merry does deliver one if the few genuine backstabs in the saga, but unfortunately doesn't fit thief in any other way.)
Edit: Ents as a troll sub-race - additional weakness vs slashing (axes) - long time since I read Silmarillion so my lore is a little rusty, but I believe trolls were a corruption of Ents in a similar way to Elf>Orc.
And yes, trolls were corrupted ents like orcs were corrupted elves. I don't remember where exactly Tolkien mentions this but I think it is in the Silmarillion or maybe in one of the appendices to The Return of the King.
@booinyoureyes: I tried playing ToEE at some point but there were just too many bugs in that game. A pity because the story was great.

You really should retry playing ToEE again with the Circle of Eight Patch/Mod!!!
@Montresor_SP As @kurumi said, that mod is basically a MUST for the game. It is like... unplayable without it. The first part is a bit of a drag, but as you level up the game becomes incredible.
It's exams time here, so as dutiful student I do everything but study =D
Warning! Contains A Song of Ice and Fire (aka Game of Thrones) spoilers If you haven't read the 5 books, you might encounter spoilers after this warning.
I allow myself for illegal combinations that can be achieved with EE Keeper and/or mods for more accuracy. I will not do alignments as they are far too subjective (and there is enough discussion about them in this thread already). Though I guess some class choices will raise arguments as well =P
There are many more characters than on this list, but I tried to pick up more prominent or interesting ones.
House Stark Eddark - Paladin Catalyn Tully - NPC Woman Robb Stark - Fighter Sansa - NPC girl (is there annoying-teenager class?) Arya - Swashbuckler (Assassin-in-training) - halfling Brandon - Diviner (Green dreams) or Shapeshifter (Werewolf form as taking over Summer) - child model Rickon - NPC child/boy
House Targaryen Daenerys - Dragon Disciple Barristan Selmy - Paladin with quarterstaff Aggo - Archer Jorah Mormont - Fighter
Aegon (VI) - Fighter (possible Dragon Disciple) Varys - Jester (if we treat lore as knowledge) or Assassin
Rhaegar - Blade (Fighter(or even Paladin)/Bard would be more suitable) Brynder Rivers "Bloodraven" - Sorcerer
House Martell Oberyn Martell "Red Viper" - Fighter/Assassin or Blackguard
Obara Sand - Fighter - spears Nymeria Sand - Kensai - daggers Tyene Sand - Assassin Elia Sand - Fighter - halberd (due to lack of lances and spears are already on Obara) Dorea Sand - Fighter - morning star - halfling
Others Kingsguard - most of them were Paladins, with couple exceptions under Joffrey's rule Brienne of Tarth - Paladin - half-orc Syrio Forel - Kensai or Swashbuckler Jaqen H'ghar - Thief/Mage (Shadowdancer/Mage or Thief/Illusionist) Thoros of Myr - Fighter/Mage/Cleric
Jan Jansen: Illusionist/Thief Uncle Scratchy: Fighter/Illusionist Uncle Spanky: Berserker rrrooooaaarrr Uncle Gerhardt: Drunken Cleric/illusionist Cousin Belar: Illusionist (he was the trickster) Aunt Petunia: The Ranger with the pet dragon Blackie that played "fetch the dwarf" from the story Jan told Valygar
@Shikao, I think Jester fits Tyrion very well. I'm surprised nobody else thought of that (that I've seen).
Nobody's done David Eddings yet, so I'll give it a shot. Classes aren't too difficult here, but alignment is very tricky. I'm going with LG for Belgarath because he serves Aldur and the good prophecy, which represents order, but he has a lot of neutralish leanings, having started life as street urchin thief, and he is capable of committing atrocities if he deems it necessary or just (casts Imprison on the Betrayer).
Class wise, all the casters could be seen as cleric-mages because of their devotion to Aldur, and even druids because they can all shapeshift.
Belgarion - Half-Elf LG fighter-mage (the focus of Prophecy, and clearly the Charname of the series) Belgarath - Half-Elf LG cleric-mage (despite his "sorcerer" title, he's not the D&D version of that - he knows *everything* about magic, both arcane and divine.) Polgara - Half-Elf NG druid (she's the most nature oriented of the casters, despite "sorceress" title) Silk - Human or Half-Elf CN thief or fighter-thief Barack - Human CN Berserker, special ability shapeshift bear Lelldorian - Human CN archer
Other options:
Poledra - Elf TN shapeshifter (Polgara's mother, prefers wolf form) CeNedra - LN (leans LE at first, Belgarion influences her toward LG) human or half-elf fighter, maybe fighter>druid because of the dryad blood.
Deus Ex: JC Denton: LG Fighter/Mage Paul Denton: NG Fighter/Mage Jock: CG Archer (sniper rifle in Hong Kong) or Fighter/Thief Tracer Tong: CG Thief/Mage Alex Jacobsen: NG Thief Jamie Reyes: NG Cleric
Deus Ex: Invisible War (Spoilers) Alex Denton: NG Figher/Mage JC Denton: LG Fighter/Mage Billie Adams: CN(E) Mage=> Wizard Slayer Leo Jankowski: CN Beserker Klara Sparks: LG Thief/Mage Leila Nassif: NG Cleric
Ray Smuckles - Bard (mad charisma) Roast Beef - the middle cat, not Ray, not Pat. - maybe a Mage for his tech-skills... Lyle - Barbarian Cornelius Bear - Cleric of Oghma (wisdom is only possessed by the learned) Cartilage Head - Necromancer Todd T. Squirrel - Thief
Philippe - shame you can't have otter familiars Nice Pete - Berserker
Ray Smuckles - Bard (mad charisma) Roast Beef - the middle cat, not Ray, not Pat. - maybe a Mage for his tech-skills... Lyle - Barbarian Cornelius Bear - Cleric of Oghma (wisdom is only possessed by the learned) Cartilage Head - Necromancer Todd T. Squirrel - Thief

And these characters relate to what?
Achewood. An adult web-comic about three cats, two bears, a tiger, a couple of squirrels and a retarded otter. Dark - you-either-get-it-or-you-don't kind of humour… thoroughly awesome.
Shouldn't we have a rule that folks should mention what their group is from, rather than just listing 6 names without any context given? I would vote that we do so.
There's only 2 regular characters that I know of...
Adol Christin, Human, NG, Fighter dualed to Mage (He gets to use magic but not early in the series) Dogi, Human, CG, Swashbuckler dualed to Fighter (He used to be a thief in the story...)
In all honesty, since its hard to fit in any other way, I think Harry and/or Ginny would likely be fighter/mages (or sorcerer in harry's case). In fact, I would argue that Harry would be an Abjurer due to his specialty in fighting the dark arts/dark wizards. The reasons for fighter is just to the excessive amounts of quiddich training they have.
actually Fighter/Mage/Thief may be even more apt. They are quite good at sneaking around hidden in the shadows, wearing concealing cloaks, and solemnly swearing to be up to no good.

Morrigan - NE, Human, Sorcerer

I might argue Leliana is chaotic good too, but that isn't a legal Bard alignment.
agree otherwise on that!

Wouldn't Susan be an archer, since she's given a bow for her special magic item?
I would make Edmund a thief>mage, because of his "apprenticeship" to the White Witch.
