Character specific equipment

zunamizunami Member Posts: 42
Hi,

Having exceptionally little patience for the super slow walking speeds of BG, I basically edited the walking speed of all my characters from 0 to 10 in EEkeeper.

For some reason, this caused the equipment of several characters to become useless, including, but not limited to:

Anomen's shield, Keldorn's Armor and Sword and Mazzy's Sword and bow.

Equipment not affected includes Imoen's belt, Nalia's ring, Haer'Dalis' swords and many other pieces of equipment.

It's a little random like that... I don't understand the issue though?

I had no such issues with Keldorn's gear when doing this. Perhaps you touched some of their ability scores while you were changing the speed? Doing so may have an effect on usability of their items.

It's possible I did it with one of them, but not both of them. Why does this affect the usability of the item though? It simply states the ID of the character as the only req... I find it strange.

The actual requirements for wearing the items are often catered specifically to the characters ability scores to make it that little bit harder for others to use them. Keldorn's plate for instance requires at least 15 strength, 16 wisdom, 17 constitution, 2 intelligence (probably a typo of 12), and 18 charisma. If I am not mistaken the tie into the ability scores was actually @CamDawg's doing.

I find that to be a strange way of doing things, but thanks for the explanation.

That's the way it's done for the vanilla game, but the problem is that you could only tailor it to match the targeted character's class, alignment, and scores--which meant that a strength drain from a shadow or int drain from an illithid could make items unusable. EE has a new opcode that can actually restrict it properly to the specified character without the added silliness.

Ahh, so what in the blaze is causing this then?

Upload your saved game and I will have a look.

Sorry, I'm not able to do that. I could explain why, but I don't have that option. Guess it will remain a mystery then. I can inform you that the same goes for Cernd though, but not Jan and not Edwin either. Rasaad is free of this ill effect too...

I've had no issues with the above mentioned equipment in combination to setting the designated character's (Mazzy and Anomen) speed to 10.

Without a save game, I'll move this to Not An Issue. If, or when, you have the ability to upload or send us a save game, we will be able to take another look at the issue.
