I read somewhere that they can't do cataclysm because the "source code" was lost. Seems kind of odd that a different source code would be used (but then again I know very little about computer programming hehe).
I have to agree with you there. Cataclysm definitely felt like the "black sheep" of the series to me, but it was the first one I beat so it holds a special place in my heart

Yea it was the first one I played as well and it still is my favourite. Still, I'll take any Homeworld at this point. 3D Space real time RTS's (other than Sins of a Solar Empire) seem to have fallen by the wayside.

Oh I played Homeworld 1 before Cat, but I always got hammered in the last fight
But I do agree with you there, you just don't see that kind of game anymore...
I loved Homeworld 2! It may sound like a minor thing, but I really like how u can customise ur fleet banners. I used to just fix my camera to a random fighter/bomber and watch it zip between mighty battlecruisers, strafing specific systems heroically as flak lights up the battle-space. Awesome imagery, awesome battles, awesome moments, awesome memories!
Did I mention awesome?
As much as I am happy to see a new Homeworld game being made, it worries me to see how different it seems to be compared to the first two. Why fix something that's not broken? I just wanna see more of the same, except with better graphics and bigger fleets!
Also, what's with the Chinese script on one of the ships in the trailer? I thought the setting had nothing to do with our reality.
Apparently PAX South will have a Gearbox Panel discussing Homeworld Remastered. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it will be streamed on twitch.tv (though any Gearbox event in the main theatre will be apparently), but I figured I'd point it out all the same for anyone going there.
I'm just hyped for Homeworld Remastered release; price is very fair and it looks like lotta love was put into this remaster; sigh these nights back in 00's, I didn't have so much from the story, bcs I was learning German back then and played in English, but the whole 3D space thing and battles with tactics and awesome soundtrack and ships and lasers and hyperspace jumps and everything...
I'm pretty hyped as well. Now freeing up the 20 gb on my hard drive (my hard drive failed awhile ago and as a result I have a very small hard drive) will be an issue, but other than that I should be good to go

For Gearbox to sell the franchise to a good developer? Or failing that subcontract every game to another company and not touch anything?
That would be great.

Apparently the game won't be available (according to Amazon) until December 31.
Personally I'm waiting until some kind of cheaper version comes out
Actually, isn't it $100 per title? Homeworld 1 - $100 and Homeworld 2 - $100? Yeah, I'll wait for a normal version
