Favorite Web Browser (Help with School Project)
Hello, lovely forum people!
My middle-schooler needs to collect data for a statistics poster. He would really appreciate it if you could reply with 1) your favorite web browser and 2) your gender. If there's anyone else willing nearby, we'd like to hear from them too.
In my household, the results are:
Mozilla Firefox, female
Mozilla Firefox, male
Google Chrome, male
meow, male ( cat)
Thanks!

I don't want to be that person, but I use multiple browsers depending on the device. Each one is on a different device, so I'll list each one separately. You can exclude if necessary (and my reasoning behind giving you the above on its own). Each 'build' has my favourite for the environment it is in; for example, if Chrome runs better than anything else under Windows XP on old hardware, that's what I'm going to use. If Firefox runs better under Windows 7 with modern hardware, then that's what I'm going to use. My favourite tends to be Firefox, but I owe no allegiance to any particular browser and will use whatever works best for the current situation.
This is everything I use on a daily, or bi-monthly (applies to the last one) basis:
- Firefox - male
- Firefox - male
- Firefox - male
- Firefox - male
- Chrome - male
- Konqueror - male
- Safari - male
In order of the above-mentioned:- Desktop #1, Windows 7.
- Desktop #2, Linux, Debian.
- Laptop, Windows Vista.
- Tablet, Android*.
- Desktop #3, Windows XP.
- Desktop #4, default browser, Linux, Fedora.
- Work-only, Mac.
* For Android, I have been using Firefox for certain sites where I prefer a larger font (like reading this forum), it's a fairly even split between Chrome and Firefox. Unfortunately, some sites don't take kindly to forcing a larger font and end up not displaying very well.Safari, male

Yeah, all my family has OS X :P
@Troodon80
He could probably do a whole poster just on your data
Home (PC) Laptop:
Chrome
Mac (PC) Laptop:
Firefox
Work:
IE (although if I could use a different one I would)
I am a male btw.
My female roommate also uses Chrome on her PC laptop, Firefox on her Mac.
The main reason I like and exclusively use Firefox is because it has the Red Cats theme. If it didn't have the Red Cats theme I'd probably use Chrome.

...Why not make a poll out of this? Isn't it more convenient?
And yes, agree with @Archaos
Though I imagine OP wanted to give people with 'multiple data points' a chance to share them all. Though I wonder if that would skew results in a small-ish sample size. For example I set up the computer for my parents, so they use Google Chrome as well. If I had set up Mozilla Firefox, which I used to use, then they'd likely use that as well.
It gets worse if somebody replies from an office/school where the organisation uses a specific browser by default.
@elminster
Finally, an Opera user! I wondered if we'd get any.
@archaos
The multiple answers thing, mostly. Plus I thought polls might be a bit played out
@heindrich
Since this is more of a 'learning how to present data' activity, I'm not too worried about data skew (the data is hopelessly biased already anyway, given his available sources), but I'm glad you brought it up. I'll suggest he discuss that aspect on his poster.
A big thanks to everyone who's taken the time to respond!
