Nailo stands uncomfortably at Lulus side. His discomfort didn't stem from dealing with these armed men in service to the King, for in his travels with the clerics of Helm he had often had such dealings. No, instead his discomfort was due to standing so close to Lulu, and the fact that she had chosen him to escort her. She had also chosen Jin, but Nailo chose to ignore that fact as best he could.
Lulu turns to Nailo @Delvarian and Jin @Heindrich "He is sightseeing in the city? He may be in immediate danger, yet we should not rush in ourselves, or it would be easy to frame us. Do you two have any suggestions?" She then turns to the guard that spoke "A brave guard like yourself must have resources. Is there any way to contact the king while he moves about? Is there no runner to deliver messages to the kings security detail?"
Jin nods again to show his agreement with Lulu ( @booinyoureyes ), and adds to her words.
"Whilst we are just speculating here, and I sincerely hope that we are wrong, but something feels wrong... King Azoun arriving in the same town on the same day that we wake up with strange tattoos after being abducted by force. We feel that it maybe connected... and if so, the king maybe in danger!"
Rushing in now could be foolish... But I can't stand by doing nothing if a good king is in danger!
"The King's safety is the priority good soldier. May I suggest that you request reinforcements immediately and accompany us to secure the king with haste!"
If we are already too late, at least we cannot be blamed for an attack that occurred whilst we are all standing out here...
Jin eyes his companions again, a sense of doubt and suspicion creeping back into his mind, Smoke ( @The_Potty_1 ) in particular made him uneasy...
"If you are nervous about taking so many of us to his majesty, then I would not object to splitting our party at your pleasure, so that half stay here and half accompanies the relief force."
Nailo was uncertain of what to say as Lulu faced him. He was not used to being asked his opinion, any decisions he made while guarding caravans were often made at the edge of his sword.
"I must admit Jin may have the right of it. If the king is in danger it is most important that we find him quickly."
Nailo looks to the guard.
"I am sure that someone here is made privy to where the king may be, we need to speak with whoever that might be."
Nailo paused for a second, looking the guard over.
Smoke stared at Lulu in astonishment and not a little awe. That guard, brave? Well only because he lacked the imagination to think of anything to be scared of. And yet her words caused him to puff up like an amorous pigeon. However, whatever magic she was working, it was effectively neutralized by whatever it was that Sima or Nalio said, which Smoke could not hear.
Lulu's ( @booinyoureyes) complement makes the guard stand a little straighter, a hint of blush creeping across his face at he looks down at his well-polished shoes. As Jin ( @Heindrich) and Nailo ( @Delvarian) interject, a frown begins to gather at his brow. He glares at them, not appearing to take in much of what they're saying, shuffling his feet and playing with his belt buckle.
"One at a time!" He barks finally. "Look here, big guy, and you, foreigner" he snaps at Nailo and Jin. "The lady asked a question, and I haven't even been able to respond with all your yammering. Haven't ye any sense of propriety? Nay...course not. What do I expect from a...Hmph."
The guard turns back to Lulu.
"Ah...well, milady, I suppose I could...ehm...well, perhaps someone would...Ahem!"
He blows one time sharply on his whistle, and after a few seconds a young woman with the emblem of the Cormyrian guard on her surcoat runs up from the back of the mansion and salutes.
"Sir, yessir!"
"Officer Varna, uh...have ye got any idea which direction his majesty went in when he left to go sightseeing?"
The woman looks confused.
"What do you mean, Lieutenant Belam, sir? His majesty has been inside all day."
"What?" Lieutenant Belam's face begins to flush a bit. He looks briefly at Lulu, then back at Officer Verna. "That can't be right. I was told by Captain Fyrian hisself that the king was out sightseeing in the city."
"Captain Fyrian told us that he isn't feeling well and is inside resting," Varna insists. "And it's true, it is. The carriage is still out back. The king hasn't come nor gone all day, cross me heart sir."
"Well...perhaps you could relay a message to the Captain regarding his majesty's safety and well-being?"
Lulu thinks for a moment. She repeats her tale to the Lieutenant carefully. "This does not seem right. Who is this Captain Fyrian? Is he in charge of his security detail? We should warn him that trouble is coming, but we would rather not put ourselves in a position to incriminate our party, for reasons I have explained. Anyway we could meet with Mr. Fyrian?"
OOC: So sorry for the long delay guys! Had to work all weekend because I needed some data by today. I'm back now!
"Fyrian's the Captain of the Guard here in Tilverton," Belam explains. "Our captain. We supplement the Royal Guard during the King's visit. But the man in charge of the King's personal security is Vangerdahast Aeiulvana, the High Wizard of Cormyr and head of the Cormyrian War Wizards. Whatever Fyrian told us was most likely fed to him by Vangerdahast, and if Vangerdahast doesn't want anyone knowing the King's business, not even us, I'd rate the odds of tracking him down pretty slim. I assure ye, there's no way he'll speak to ye without some sort of appointment neither. Too high and mighty for that, and he hasn't left the King's side once since they arrived."
Belam shifts around in his heavy armor, looking up over his shoulder at the curtained windows of the Gunderstone mansion. The talk of the Royal Wizard seems to have made him restless, uneasy.
"Look milady, I want to help ye, but if I get caught chatting with ye while I'm on duty there'll be hell to pay. I can't let ye in. Best I can do is ask Officer Varna to relay a message. Maybe someone will actually read it. Maybe someone will agree to meet with you--if not the King or Vangerdahast, then perhaps someone who will speak to them on your behalf. I can't make promises. But should there be any response, I'll be sure to send a messenger along. Where are ye staying here in the city, if I might ask?"
... OOC while everyone went to page 3 to see the name of the inn ...
Smoke looks at the three nominated spokespeople in disgust, and finally could take the silence no longer, so stepped forward. 'The inn .. it's name .. there was a gnome with a very large mustache .. gold .. and a golden suit.'
He paused to gather his thoughts. 'A message. Yes. Tell the King .. we fear for his safety. Um. I think we will be at the inn tonight, and leave town in the morning.' Smoke looked helplessly at Lulu, gave her a nudge, and rolled his eyes towards the leuitenant.
