PS The scroll issue seems to be in SoA. Not in BG.

Good to know. I don't think this has anything to do with item creation, but I'll check
  • In my BGEE game, the scrolls work fine for my mages, but my Bard has the same issue Necromanx2 has. For the record, I'm using Song and Silence's Chorister Kit. Hopefully that helps you narrow it down.

Are we changing the levels of any spells? I'm wondering if this is causing the problem

    Edit

I'm thinking about learnability. I don't think the usability thing is tnb

@subtledoctor , I don't think I coded anything to prevent bards from using scrolls. I'll go poking around the code later.

The scrolls still don't work in BG for me for multiclassed mages. But seem to for single class ones or wild mages. (I can't use them, but can learn from them - newly applied spells work fine from other mods though) Couldn't install Xan's Bladesinger component. Get some level 9 spells in the level one area. Spell sequencer doesn't seem to work properly. (and is called some nonsense as a scroll and thinks it's the draw upon holy might spell) It also doesn't seem to always work when it get's transferred to a special ability - it simply doesn't fire sometimes for no reason I can tell so far.

I do like it all though, despite the bugs! Keep up the good work all involved :)

It works most of the time. I can set it up every time, but sometimes trying to use the 'blue ability' nothing happens with it. It's rare that it doesn't work though, mind! So I guess point four is where it fails (and just on firing the spells. It gives the option to set up again fine)

I don't know if it was because of any spells I had in it, or if a mix of defensive and 'crowd control' spells would cause an issue. I'll see if the fix changes anything or if it crops up again at all!

Could see it before the hotfix! Report was just a more indepth one of what was happening for me, before it.
  • Okay, here's what I'm seeing on my end with Minor Spell Sequencer in BGEE (hotfix dropped into override/folders, but no reinstall): The spell scroll in High Hedge has the weird out of place text. I buy the scroll, and no one in my party can write it into their spellbook. My Bard and Dynaheir also have it flagged as unusable like every other spell scroll. Imoen (dual-classed) on the other hand, can use the scroll, and when she does it writes into her spellbook (exp award and all) with no other effect. From there, it works like it's supposed to: She casts it, makes a sequencer, the spell gets removed from her book, and from then on gets the minor spell matrix ability once she uses the stored sequencer.

    - Bard is a Chorister (Song & Silence) and cannot use any scrolls, but can learn most scrolls
    - Dynaheir is an Invoker, like normal, and cannot use any scrolls, but can learn most scrolls
    - Imoen is a Thief dualled to Mage, and can use and learn scrolls
    - Installed after TnB is just BG2Tweaks and NPCEE

In terms of learnability, *no one* can learn from the minor spell sequencer scroll. In terms of usability, Imoen can put it in her quick slot and use it, and when she uses it from a quick slot she *learns* the spell instead of casting it.

Edit: Mods installed before TnB: BG1npc, Romantic Encounters, Animus, Wand Case, Rogue Rebalancing, Song and Silence.

To everyone who was having issues with scrolls with v0.61 of Tome and Blood, I have identified the issue and we're working on a fix. Thanks you for being patient.

For those who want to know what caused this, there is a conditional statement in WeiDu that evaluates to 0 if true (typically, true statements evaluate to 1), which none of us realized until I went poking through the documentation.

Hey, could you add an option to become a lich for mages?

The "Planar Sphere Mod" has a tome or something which does this, but I didn't actually try it on my Mage, because the down-sides listed in the description sounded too annoying (slow movement speed, being vulnerable to "turn undead", etc).

I'm encountering an odd issue in IWDEE where the spells updated by this mod all have their texts altered to "invalid string" while the class descriptions don't change; Necromancer still reads "has two prohibited schools", etc.

@subtledoctor: I released a big update to More Style for Mages, which changed prefixes to its files. I think you will need to update your compatibility component.

Well, pretty much all of them. Or do you mean the prefix or functionality?

@Pecca, @subtledoctor, I should have a bit of time this weekend to do some updating, so don't worry about it. If I remember correctly, the compatibility component requires editing the ranged staffs specialization dialog a bit, although I can't think off the top of my head why that would be necessary anymore, given that the specialist kits that originally broke it have been replaced.

can we expect this to work with 2.0?

There's one sure-fire way to find out...

I am aware of it, I can't do it right now.

@Dark_Ansem, there are no reasons why I think this wouldn't work, but you never know. Things tend to break in between patches.
