Couple Questions About the BG1 NPC Mod

Carl_LCarl_L Member Posts: 41
Hey,

I'm thinking of giving this mod a try and have been trying to read up on it. Couple questions: Despite my best efforts, I can't seem to come across any concise description of what this mod essentially does, and though I'm aware that the EE version is still a work in progress, am curious for a 1st Time player running with the 'canon' party using only a couple GUI mods how stable the current version of the mod is. I realize that it might be hard to give any kind of "judgment", but would appreciate any kind of speculation. Thanks.

BG1NPC is a nice mod that essentially works around dialog.tlk, adding banters between and his/her companions, and even between NPCs. If you ever played BG2, you will see that it gives a similar feeling of those you experience when Jaheria and Minsc speaks to you or when Edwin and Minsc tries to work together (or not kill each other).

If you appreciate banters and dialogs and wants to try a deeper experience into BG1 roleplaying, you must try it! The BG1NPC mod even adds possible (more) romances between characters of your party. ^^

I would highly recommend it personally, the depth it adds to the game is unparalleled by any other mod imo, you may encounter some minor bugs but I wouldn't image game breaking ones, I've pretty much played through it without the Canon party (although Imoens banters seemed to work ok).

I can't comment on Khalid, jaheriah minsc and dynaheir as they weren't involved in my playthrough.

I would highly recommend it even in its current beta state and if you come across any bugs be sure to report them.

I have also pretty much completed the shar-teel romance and even though it is caveated with a statement saying it is "tongue and cheek" I personally consider it rather well written and enjoyable. The dynaheir one has received high accolades aswel from what I hear but I imagine all of them will be an enjoyable experience, such is the quality of the writing throughout

You can ask everything you'd like here: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/32379/bg1npc-for-bgee-prerelease#latest Here you can also download the latest version of this mod.

You can read the description of the mod here: http://www.gibberlings3.net/bg1npc/ The mod expands on the depth of character and levels of interaction with the NPCs from the BG1 game. This mod was developed to increase the level of interaction one could have with the party members in BG1. NPCs in your party will have banters with the PC, with each other, and small side-quests of their own.

    It's highly, highly recommended!

I've managed to run the canon party (complete with Dyna's romance) with BG1NPC on BGEE without any big trouble (I think there was one occasion where I had to set a variable, but that's the sort of thing you can ask about and people will be happy to help). I'm not going to say you won't run in to bugs if you try the same- you very well might- but so far, save for the death resetting variables if you reload problem, it seems pretty stable. I did the Coran CN track as well on this edition, and it seemed to work fine, too, as well as a few different party characters.

@Twani - Not to give anything away for those who haven't played it, but did the end-game cutscene work for the Dynaheir romance?
