I like mostly Hard Rock bands from the 70's, such as Blue Öyster Cult, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foghat, and many others, especially for their amazing guitar solos.
That's why I really love Molly Hatchet ( older band and new ), they never go cheap on their solo lengths

I'm not familiar with Molly Hatchet, but I'll definitely check them out. Thanks for the heads up
About the bands I've mentioned
Buck Dharma (Blue Öyster Cult) is a very underrated guitarist as it isn't largely known, but undeservedly so. For example, the live versions of "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" in the album "Extraterrestrial Live" and "Subhuman" in the album "On Your Feet or on Your Knees", just to mention two, feature some of the best guitar solos I've ever heard.
AC/DC have Angus Young. It shouldn't be necessary to say anything else here
Lynyrd Skynyrd have several songs in which you have two or three lead guitars all going wild at the same time, like it is some sort of contest between the guitarists. I don't even know how to call it. Three simultaneous solos ? A trio ?
Rod Price (Foghat) wasn't dubbed 'The Magician Of Slide' and 'Slide King Of Rock And Roll' for nothing
I like almost exclusively classical music. When I was young and going out to clubs, I liked Madonna, Depeche Mode, and some other techno and club music. Now that I'm too old to go clubbing, I'm back to exclusively classical. Luckily for me, most game soundtracks (the ones I play, anyway) are classical orchestral.
Stam1na awesome band, but they sing in Finnish. They do tour abroad though and have lot of non-Finnish fans so maybe someone here might appreciate them.
All of the all of the aboves listed above (if you can figure out what I just wrote), as well as almost every other genre of music. I was raised on oldies from the '50s, '60s and '70s, and still absolutely love most of the artist from that era. My sister got me hooked on '80s pop and rock music when we were growing up, and my best friend and I fell in love with grunge and alternative rock. My art teacher in high school played Metallica and other similar groups, so I started listening to metal as well and branched into all of the different subcategories (excluding death metal, since I just don't understand the appeal of guttural roaring). I also adore classical music and some opera, electronica and much more.
One of my favorite (progressive) metal groups is Kamelot, particularly the Khan era. They're simply awesome.
I, uh, guess i mostly listen to what used to be called "college rock" back in the day - 1980s/90s guitar bands for the most part from the US, UK and Australia. I have a fondness for other types as well, but ultimately, i derive the most pleasure from a Pixies, You Am I or Pulp record than just about anything else...
I enjoy Metal music in general, but I got tired of the same formula/song structure (solos and verse-chorus-verse). Therefore I found music/bands that I enjoy very much: slow tempo, a lot of experimenting, usage of different instruments/soundscapes. Some people call it "Post" Metal, some argue that's a stupid name, but examples are: Neurosis, Isis, Cult of Luna, Rosetta, Pelican, Minsk. I enjoy instrumental music as well, some industrial (Fear Factory, Godflesh, Laibach). Rather unknown bands, but You can find something you like in any genre, if you're willing to search for it.
I listen to a little of everything. Although metal and hard rock perhaps play the smallest parts in my musical spectrum. Currently have Fleet Foxes streaming out my speakers as I pack to move house on Saturday.
No one can destroy the metal ~ The metal will strike you down with a vicious blow ~ We are the vanquished foes of the metal ~ We tried to win for why, we do not know ~
Seriously though, I listen to almost any sort of metal/ what ever I can get my hands on. I do have a certain affinity for orchestral music though also anything "themed" rolls with me.
I listen to a lot of these guys, mostly: RAGE/ Lingua Mortis, Alestorm, Dezperadoz, Black Mages/ Earthbound Papas, Powerglove, In Extremo, Blind Guardian, Subway to Sally, Coheed and Cambria, Rammstein, Tenacious D and a bunch of YouTubers who like to cover other songs as metal versions (such as MetalFortress).
Other than metal, I like classic, jazz, punk, electro etc. Basically everything but dubstep, RnB and gangsta rap.
I enjoy a very eclectic and wide variety of music, including metal, though I voted the last option because while I enjoy most of those types of music, I simply cannot enjoy Death Metal, Doom Metal, Black Metal, or any sort of growling/screamo bullcrap. I consider that type of stuff less of music than the hipster indie postmelodramatic dubrockcorestep modem noise or the low-end hip-hop by wannabe rappers who still believe "2Pac iz styl ALIVE #yolo #swag". Aside from that, I listen to virtually any music, from rock to metal to techno to house to pop to even indie folk and traditional chanting, as well as rap and orchestral and classical.
There are very few music genres I dislike, but "savage beast growl and edgy lyrics" metal is one. I've always preferred Alternative Rock and Alternative Metal, though.

And Slayer are playing Thrash!
And Slayer were the precursors of Death Metal, they evolved the Thrash style into Death.
