    1.6 Saturation Fix & Tilt Shift Idea concept

    I think i will stick to this saturation level.
    I've added how it would look when i add tilt shift to screen,
    I think i will need to tweak it a little bit more, and if it will be good i will ad this as option on GUI install..
    Inventory just pop out with tilt shift on..

    Winter theme 1.6 ingame update preview

    Wow... this thread is getting better and better after I went to sleep. ;)

    I really, *really* love that winter look you've pulled off in that theme! Not only are the lines of snow and icicles the most immersive thing I ever saw within an GUI for Icewind Dale. But the frost crystal coatings of the background actually make you feel Auril's freezing embrace sweeping into your clothes.

    The winter theme would perhaps be even more freezing to look at if the AC and HP windows would also receive a thin layer of frost.

    1.6 Winter Update main interface Type 1 Preview

    Included in Alpha Gui:
    http://www.mediafire.com/download/ec1wm1bfm1sybpj/IWD_WOOD_GUI_WINTER_by_Soulmarine_1.6a.rar

    This is Type 1 of main interface, it needs a lot of tweaks..... i will try different texture variations.
    I will need to tweak font colors to match my theme...
    I also need to add more details to sidebars, its empty for now..

    I think i will have most problems with this part, because left& right sidebars are so thin on 1920*1080, either i will make double width by editing chu files or idk... any suggestions ???

    @subtledoctor‌
    First plan was to release this to IWD ond IWDEE only, but i'm thinking i will release it to BG games, (yeeey)
    For the rez, it will be compatible from 800*600 to 1920*1080,
    I will just edit GUI (CHU) and graphic so the sidebars and icons will be bigger in 1920*1080 and they give feel like in 1280*720...

    I have a lot of work to do... and a lot of files to edit in photoshop...
    When this will be 100% complete i will port it to BG.
    This will be MAJOR graphic update for IWD....

    My other project is to create WYSIWYG CHU editor in Visual studio for Infinity engine games,but that's another story for now...

    Thanks for interest in This Project

    @subtledoctor‌ A lot of us have default resolutions higher than that. For instance, mine is 1680x1050.
  • SoulmarineSoulmarine Member Posts: 70
    @jackjack @subtledoctor

    Not to worry, it will be compatible with all resolutions in range from:
    800x600 --> 1920*1080

    Personally, I prefer your hand painted one.
  • KamigoroshiKamigoroshi Member Posts: 5,870
    That's... that's beautiful! I'd go with the hand drawn ones, due to it being that good.

    Now I somewhat mourn the fact that IWD:EE won't have any loading screens. :(

    It's been only one day and this thread is already like a marvel - the GUI and paintings are top-notch. What a job!

    And to think it will be available for BG....arrrgh... It's fantastic, by Clangeddin's hammer!

    Really liking the chilly wood theme, and both the gui and the paintovers look brilliant. While the vanilla IWD GUI is nice it shrinks too much (even at 1280x800) and breaks a bit in widescreen resolutions, and the "raw" looking 3d renders (loading screens) stick out more than blend to the game. Especially since the narrated "cutscenes" have painted ones don't they?

    The main game screen is probably the biggest hurdle to get right. Can you actually resize the elements (sidebars) for bigger resolutions? I haven't seen that done outside of the EE's (and even them have only one alternative size).

    It's difficult to judge a GUI without spending plenty of time with it, but I'd wish the earlier style with less Depth/"blur"/contrast stays as an option, as I find most kinds of "forced focus" disturbing (I tend to turn Depth of Field options off in every game). That's just my two copper.

    I love the winter GUI's inventory with snow and icicles soo much! Too bad I can't seem to install iwd on my win xp machine, otherwise I would like to try it.

    I hope you can make the mod ee-compatible as fast as possible when the game hits the shelves...err, the internet.

    I just read you might make this bg and bg:ee compatible too, I might do a little happy dance if it happens. :-)

    SOULMARINE'S IWD WOOD GUI MOD
    Long Term Project Planning

    My First idea was to create immersive GUI only for IWD and IWDEE upon release,
    but after a while i have decide to do next:

    What Interfece Design will be available?

    INTERFACE: 3 DESIGNS
    DESIGNS:WINTER, SPRING, WOOD
    It will have universal installer with widescreen patcher,
    and Design (theme) picker upon install

    Winter GUI
    =====================
    Available for games:
    1. Icewind Dale Complete
    2. Icewind Dale EE

    Spring GUI
    =====================
    Available for games:
    1. Icewind Dale Complete
    2. Icewind Dale EE

    Wood GUI
    =====================
    Available for games:
    1. Icewind Dale Complete
    2. Icewind Dale EE
    3. Baldurs Gate Saga Complete

    For What resolutions will be available?
    Supported Resolutions:
    =====================
    640*480 to 1920*1080
    I will try to create bigger gui for higher resolutions as seen in BGEE
    (for example sidebars on 1920*1080 are 64px width, i will made it double on that res, so higher res,bigger portraits and sidebars)

    What part of graphic will this mod change?
    1.Complete USER interface, backgrounds, buttons, etc... (winter, spring, wood)
    2.Loading Screens (only on IWD for now)

    What are project priorities?
    1. To complete WINTER GUI for IWD
    2. To redraw loading screens for IWD
    3. To tweak CHU files for better placement of sidebars on higher res.
    4. WINTER GUI for IWD EE
    ----
    5. SPRING GUI
    6. WOOD GUI
    7. GUI for other editions...

    Please have in mind that IWD is priority, and all the posted artwork & test builds are just preview and they don't represent the quality of the final product. ( Yes final product will be more awesome :D )

    And ofc I am doing this project in my free time ;)

    Yes it's possible I will try, to resize elements on higher res, i have already working prototypes, but with 1 000 000 bugs..
    For the Tilt shift depth of view, this is just an idea, option for now...
    Please have in mind that i'm developing this GUI with Gibberlings 3 widescreen patch on 1920*1080 for now, on IWD Complete from GOG. When i complete Winter GUI For this resolution i will made it compatible to other res.
