I draw inspiration from Magic: The Gathering cards. Always loved M:TG's artwork, and it's so diverse you can find male or female version for any D&D character concept.

I want to play a half-elf avenger druid. I'm leaning between these two cards:

Just deciding what gender to play, obviously. Probably will roll male and run with Neera my first PT.

Looks like a Mage/ thief combo... Or maybe just a thief

That's an excellent picture! The vast majority of the custom portraits I see do not fit in with style of the original BG at all unfortunately and I find them unsatisfying. I took a shot at BGing up an image last night I'm considering using for my new character.. just might photoshop in a staff or something, what do you think?

This one for my elven Cleric, or multi Cleric/Mage, I'm still kind of wavering between the two.

Probably going to go with my first paladin character revisited: image

I have always liked this one. I'm also impressed by:

I'll probably be bringing out my Heartwarder, although the Heartwarder class is a fan-made mod.

This is the portrait I used for PC for my first full run through BG lo these many years ago, a half-elf Fighter-Mage named Lemernis:

    Lemernis - original

Figured what the heck, I'll play him again in honor of the rerelease of the game.

    Well, since we're sharing...
My favorite PC, Karrion - grandmastery in staffs + staff of Rynn + berserker rage = you'd better get out of the way! :P
    image
And just for fun, two snapshots of his past and future:
A pic of his boyfriend to be:
    image
And 14 years ago, in Candlekeep - all those 'hide and seek' games are sure exhausting...
    image
Karrion: Imie, if you're just pretending again, I'm gonna dump you in a horse trough.
    Imoen: *snores like a dwarf*
    Karrion: *sigh*

If you see the drastic difference between Karrion and Nathaniel, that's because Karrion I glued together from pictures done by someone talented, and Nathaniel is just a photo I messed with. Talented artist, I am not... Still, messing with pictures is fun! :D (Still tinkering with Karrion's hair, will change the pic when I'm happy with it).

Thart's quite a departure for Imoen, lol. According to one little known martial academy in the Realms it is vitally important the female warriors be as unencumbered as possible by all that bothersome armor.

Well, I'm not gonna argue against academical facts. Wisdom is very important..

I'm not sure if you watched Bleach, but the greatest Ninja from there also says clothes are too confiding. Imoen's gotta get on the program. :P

Lots of players choose portraits of old people, wich is strange because the PC should be 20 at the beginning of Baldur's Gate.
But in this case the face doesn't seem old, so we can suppose that he has white hair just because he was a readhead, it happens XD

Or one of his parent was a moon-elf and the other a human :)

The portrait didn't have sharp ears, but still close to what I was going for.

That said, reds are hawt :) And if there are only human monks in BG, that might be the reason for being a whitey :)

I like this explanation :) , even though one of his parents should be Bhaal :)
Jokes aside it's a beautiful portrait, I think it will fit in really well with bg original portraits!

Bhaal was forced to walk Toril in his avatar during the Time of Troubles but had the ability to change his form in order to "sow his mortal progeny." So any racial combination of parents nature allows to mate is possible, really.

Personally, ever since I was a kid I always put myself into the game I always did what I thought was right and that seemed to stick... But being very young playing the game I only had a choice out of the vanilla portraits, Xzar was always my pick as I always thought myself to be misunderstood... But in hindsight I always wanted a 'Balduresque' version of me, (which I have gotten with much help from the community!) But I ask you all, how many others have self Balduresque portraits?
    (Definitely link please!)
