Blind Ankhegs

I'm currently soloing with a dragon disciple and discovered that if you cast blindness on an ankheg they'll burrow underground and disappear(thus ending combat). I'm guessing that they're trying to find you but unable to do so as they're blind. I though I'd post it as it could be useful in a pinch.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Since their visibility is reduced to 1, they can't see you, and thus wait uderground, safe from harm. If you happen to walk to their melee range they will 'see' you and pop up to fight, abeit with the penalties of the blindness attached.

You'd think being blind wouldn't really affect a creature that burrows through the earth where visibility is limited.

Wow, I never thought about it; it's definitely interesting, but I'm too used to sleep-wand cheesing them.

It would be weird if those giant creepy eyes of theirs didn't do something. Probably they fire energy beams to make burrowing easier.
