I have quite a lot of portraits (currently 155) since I usually make my own 5-6 custom character teams through multiplayer, and I don't really care much for the original portraits, especially since most of them are used by joinable characters.
To each his own. Sorry you don't appreciate them—I love the ones I posted. They, along with others, have provided fodder for an endless number of characters.
A portrait that fits sheerly *all* roleplaying needs one might have. Such as Oozemasters. Or Amorphous Sorcerers. Or Amorphites of Ghaunadaur. Or Half-Oozes. Or Ghaunadans. Or maybe even Oozemasters!
Good picks @Seiklis and @Dib! We have similar tastes. The only ones I don't really like are those of the Elves with their semi-bare chests. My Charnames (be they female or male) are always fully clothed.
Edit: I'd like to give something back here, but don't know where to start. I've collected hundreds of portraits through the years. And there are simply too many favorites there... I normally go for expressive rather than "beautiful" faces, feeds the imagination better. Many favorites can be seen in my no-reload thread. Here are a few examples of portraits you can't find in that thread:
@Blackraven I guess you must really hate Irenicus then? Perhaps you even RP characters on a crusade against semi-bare chests as a motive for going after him?

Haha, I don't hate Irenicus for showing the realms his nipples or for his shoulder pads of doom. I think my Charnames and I rather pity him for his poor sense of fashion. Either way he still has his awesome lines and his commanding voice going for him.
We've all seen that custom Dorn which is really great.
I like both of these - I may actually replace Imoen's portrait with the one you posted. However, I don't think I've ever actually seen the custom Dorn you're talking about. Unless it's the one from PaintBG.
@Durendal I don't know if these are the ones mentioned, but Isandir actually created two. Personally, I love both portraits, but prefer the second one for Dorn.
I'll post a few more I've recently cut to size (including more half naked ones just for Blackraven ^_^)
Apparently I haven't cut this one down yet, on the to do list

The base image for this is so wide cutting it down without destroying his face was tricky, really wish I had done better with it though, amazing image for a ranger if I could of gotten the quiver to stay in the picture

Random question. Where do you folks get your portraits? I'm looking for one for an upcoming character, and I'm having trouble finding a good one from my usual sources.
Jarrakul: My usual sources are: google images (describing usually race, class and or alignment, you can also check 'visually similar images'), deviantart, digital art gallery, and pinterest.
Generally I try to use the original portraits, which fit the best for the game in my opinion. Of course I'll use a portrait of a NPC that I will not have in my party. I like most of the BG1 portraits, my favourite is Montaron's:
The scars, the sword, short goatee, leather armor - adventure!
Here's my two, cut them down to size myself and thought they were pretty badass. I use the first one for just about every mage class I make and the other in case I ever make a Thief type class. ( Sorry, not sure how to insert SPOILERS and images on this thread. )
Shit... is that... Shepard? did you make him yourself? im so downloading it!
Glad you like it, though I did not make it myself. I think it's actually supposed to be a short haired Hawke from DA:2, judging by the armor and scars/paint, but definitely thought it fit well for my fighter->thief pc. Pictures are a huge part of the character for me, even in pnp games. I always use the keeper to change portraits during the... (note: actual spoiler with the pictures below)
Drow transformation in the underdark. Cailean Quick Minsc Rasaad Aerie Imoen Neera
Gelkanis of Candlekeep, a Stalker I'm going to use for my (first!) SCS run through the trilogy. I had so much fun creating his portrait that I also made a full body!

Anyway here are some of my favourites:

We've all seen that custom Dorn which is really great. I also like the goth looking elf chick from IWD2.

Blackguard is a Paladin kit, having high charisma is part of the job.
This is the one I use for my jester, found it on an BG2 mod named Xavier
