Edit: by behaviour proxy it might be half orc half drow
Jaheira is half human and half drow. My newly rolled blackguard is half human and half orc.
Dridersdoom is 100% drow but doesn't behave like it being chaotic good like Drizzt. I will continue with her until she expires or succeeds. Then I will try my Blackguard half orc.
Dridersdoom joined up with Gavin, Sirene, Vynd and Baeloth. Sirene was given the scroll of protection from petrification and oil of speed and as a result trashed the basilisk area. Gavin summoned a skeleton warrior who weakened Mutamin enough for him to cause few problems.
The party has returned to Beregost where they will rest. Lighthouse area next.
After a night spent staring at the ceiling and when finally falling asleep, troubled by dreams, I was awoken by the sound of Candlekeep waking up. For a short time, listening to the Chanters, I could almost imagine that nothing had changed, I was still living here, Gorion was still alive. But of course everything had changed.
What did it actually mean being the mortal progeny of a God who had forseen his own death? What was the plan, the aim? Was it nothing more than instinct, nature? The same instinct that spurred all living things to breed because they are aware of their own mortality? Could Bhaal have been beset by the same? Or was there something more? And what did that mean for me?
I didn't feel any different. I mean there was a slight ego boost, but then as "Daddy" was the God of Murder, that was tempered by embarrassment, sins of the father and all that. Overall, would have preferred the lost princess narrative, even taking into consideration possible future power. And then there was the question about why this Sarevok wanted me dead. It had to be linked, was he jealous? But then who had told him or how had he found out?
Enough of this, it wasn't going to get me anywhere and right now I needed to confront the IT Crowd.
We made our way through the library, largely ignored by the studious monks. They were used to visitors, although perhaps not quite so armed to the teeth. Bumped into Shistal, he didn't recognise me. That hurt, pretty sure at one point he'd been very attentive (might have been a different monk, they do all dress alike). So asked a few questions, next thing, turns out he's a doppleganger. Here we go again.
Couldn't get any answers from the IT Crowd at all. So left with a choice to get nasty or think about a different approach, we withdrew to consider our options. I thought the best plan was to talk to Ulraunt and Tethtoril, explain the situation, ask them to use their influence, tell them about what the IT had been doing. Tell them there was a bloody doppleganger wandering around and where there's one, there's bound to be more. Headed up to the top floor, accused of murdering the IT crowd, thrown in a cell. Ulraunt turns up, tell us we will be hanged back at BG for murder. This day keeps on getting better and better.
Tethtoril turns up lets us go, but not out the back door, oh no, nothing so straightfrorward, through the catacombs. Edwin asked him to pass a note to his hot date Koveras. "I don't know of any Koveras, but the name is Sarevok backwards" "What name" "Koveras" "So you think they might be related? brothers? " "No, no, the same person" "But they have different names" "Somebody else explain, I don't remember her being this stupid, has she had a knock on the head recently?" "She's been under a lot of stress"
We were teleported to the Catacombs. "Do not worry, the undead will succomb to Shar's power" "And my fire" "Then if it's alright with you I'll stay at the back" "Nope, you have to find the traps".
We sent Coran ahead to deal with any traps (after a potion or two, he's not that good at it) and he promptly returned being chased by, you guessed it, dopplegangers. And not just any dopplegangers, dopplegangers with the faces of all those I had known at Candlekeep. We found the pile of bodies the faces had once belonged to. Who had done this? How had they done this? We carried on and were confronted by doppleganger Gorion telling me it was all a dream. It might have worked had we not been, by then, covered in doppleganger and ghast gore.
The catacombs led to a cave, where a welcoming party of Sarevoks henchmen were waiting. "Do your stuff Edwin" "With pleasure" he said as he mopped doppleganger and ghast bits from his hands. Invisibility, haste, web, grease, cloudkill, fireballs, no more henchmen.
Lots of spiders, of course, why wouldn't there be? Not like they have anything better to do than hang around waiting on the off chance. Coran scouted ahead around a corner, walked in on two basilisks. Not too bad, our experience with Branwyn ensured we always carried stone to flesh scrolls and a couple of protection scrolls. So now we were covered wih doppleganger, ghast, spider and basilisk goo, I need a bath. Saw the light at the end of the tunnel, spoke to a prat (or was that just "Pratt"?), and emerged on the cliffs below Candlekeep.
"So this was where you grew up?" "Yes" "And I thought the Underdark was dangerous"
Trio Update (Corey_Russell (protagonist), Grond0, Gate70) SETUP: BGT, no mods except fixpack and ToBeX
party character sheets
Since Nugget got killed by the brilliant play of the Shade Lord, who put up spell turning just as Nugget's call lightning generated, the Trio had a little time to generate new fodder.
We came up with the interesting combo of Human Kensai (Corehide), Orcish Fighter/Thief (Truckle) and elven sorcerer (Fyle).
Candlekeep went without much ado. The trio were about to go to Shoal when Corehide said he didn't have any range weapons. So some daggers from some nearby skeletons provided Corehide with that he needed, but was dicey with all us being level 1.
Shoal did not go to plan as despite the fact that Corehide didn't even attack Shoal, after Fyle's bullet hit her she headed for Corehide. Corehide was rapidly running out of room. However, Fyle bravely ran interference while Corehide ran for the open ground. Fortunately Truckle's crossbow bolts killed Shoal surprisingly quick.
We thought that things would look up, but we got in an ambush and Fyle was rapidly killed by a war dog, which she didn't see on her screen. So we had to travel to the Beregost Temple to bring her back. We then made good progress, as Fyle's sleep was actually pretty handy when getting Merrianne's letter as well as getting the stealth boots for Truckle. However we got in yet another ambush - Fyle was hit, and there were archers about - Corehide said run right and despite two shots the bandits somehow missed Fyle and she lived.
We moved through the next zone and nearly made it to Nashkel - however another ambush and Fyle had the misfortune of standing right next to a ghast when the enemies spawned - she was instantly killed. Corehide and Truckle stuck around and avenged Fyle by killing the ogrillion and ghast of that ambush.
We had just enough time to get back to the Beregost Temple and resurrect Fyle once again (at this rate, this temple will make a killing off of us). Fyle re-equipped, session saved and will try again next week.
Trio No Reload, Gate70 / Grond0 / Corey_Russell (Part 1234567 8 : The end)
Trademeet / Druid Grove. Kyland Lind and his druids came down with several dose of insects. Then a spore colony shuffled away in panic before perishing. There was a brief chat about which druid should fight Faldorn, Nerd being the safe option but Nugget had to do the talking and the choice was between Cernd and himself. Faldorn thought she had a good chance but Nugget threw up a fire elemental and insect plague before adding a nymph and a pair of hounds. With 400k xp required to challenge for leadership of the grove, the druids hastily arranged a temporary stand-in. Nugget was EXTREMELY put out, mostly by the stand-in standing on his dropped equipment and requiring a minute or two's effort to find a clickable spot to retrieve it.
On to Umar Hills next, an encumbered Nugget swearing once more as Nerd and Dreen ran ahead. One of them grabbed a light gem, plunging Nugget into darkness and a pair of shadows moved in. Nugget switched to his spear and called for help, fearing his ironskins would last longer than his strength. Dreen managed to throw an invisibility potion and Nugget glugged it with STR 3 remaining.Could be worse though, as Nerd soon found out. A Greater Mummy dosed him with a heavy-lag disease and he was rapidly in trouble (below) then dead. Nothing a temple visit can't sort out.
Thaxxy put up a heck of a fight. Two fire elementals, three spirit animals, some nymphs, animals and a djinn all found themselves eaten up leaving the three adventurers exploring other options. Dreen was busy drinking healing potions and soon asked Nerd for some extra. Nugget finally remembered he had Doom and cast it, would have been MUCH cleverer to cast it before all the Insect Plague spells though.
Nerd's ironskins shredded and Nugget moved in to absorb the dragon blows, but was buffeted away. Nerd held his ground and got some new ironskins up. Dreen was drinking the last of the healing potions so Nugget suggested he stop doing that and drink a strength potion instead, then flank the dragon before ironskins collapsed. Thaxxy manouvered out of that with another wing buffet but a short while later Nerd returned to melee with Nugget throwing darts and ready to step in while Dreen closed in from the rear to seal the dragon's fate.
Flushed with success, it was time to find the Shade Lord. Nugget wisely used a couple of Death Wards but didn't bother protecting anyone from lightning (was memorised) as he felt nobody else used it.
The Shade Lord survived the initial onslaught, while his Shadow Altar took a sunstone bullet and shut down. Dreen and Nerd were both caught by a Power Word:Stun, leaving Nugget to fend for himself. He gamely threw in a Dispel Magic and freed both companions. The Shade Lord couldn't last long now.
Nugget could see the battle was stretching out, with the Shade Lord Mirror Imaging. He started a long-casting spell and was lining up another spell while it completed (locating a spell but not selecting it) and was mortified to see a Spell Turning disc appear a second or two before his casting completed. Bang Bang as lightning flew down onto the disc and a second strike flew down onto Nugget, taking him from a perfect 64hp to nothing. Nerd and Dreen saw an arm fly past their heads and disintegrate.
Dridersdoom came to a sticky end fighting the Dark Horizon Assassins in the Nashkel Mines. Pure carelessness. Yes they were tough, but he shouldn't have been in the melee when his armour spell had worn off.
No backstab ability for a blackguard. Then I had the idea of getting myself trapped in a corner by the rats. Mendas couldn't reach me, but my throwing axes could reach him.
I quite like it that I have to use my brain to defeat him.
Shade Lord, I don't know what all the fuss is about with Watchers... all I found guarding the place was some bat like gits but I didn't mess with the statues. Viconia got a nice shield for helping to open the trade in a town called under or umber then she put up repulse and we took on the Shade lord.
... an easy battle if you use the ammo suppled and listen to the advice from the consort we rescued.
Here resumes the tale of Goiwam Wlfwlqlfcpr the Unpronounceable.
So since the last time I played I added two mods - the BGT-BP Worldmap (hueg version, naturally) and Jimfix. Unfortunately the worldmap mod didn't convert my save file because reasons , so now my worldmap looks like this
I start this session by heading for the crazy cleric south of the High Hedge whose name escaped me at the time of this writing, but I got accosted along the way by a Ghast. With my bow I have a THAC0 of 17, and I'm getting a modifier of +2 on the attack rolls - I have to roll 15 or better, so this might take a while.
After 9 1/2 rounds, I get a jade ring for my trouble. I also realize that I need to find some way to make the game pause itself when I'm typing these up so that I don't have a repeat of Lucky Gibberling #7 from last time.
I finally get where I'm going and... pull that damn wolf again. This time I put enough distance between myself and the poor son of a bitch to lay down a trap. And it turns out that this wolf actually is on the shortest path between me and my mark. I use the wolf's spawn point as my nesting site to recharge my traps - the good news is that this gives me an extra trap to work with when I try to go for The Whistling Sword +2 later. The bad news is that the Hobgoblin Trio of Death and Doom and Despair is ridiculously hard to pull, plus they can inflict poison at range and I don't have any antidotes.
Anyway, I set my nest and nothing attacks me, leaving me free to set up for Bassilus. There's no good way to smack Bassy with traps and he's even less mobile than the Hobgoblin Trio of Adjective and Other Adjective, so I wait for Hide in Shadows to proc. This is probably going to get me killed, but my special snare needs to be set as close to Bassy as possible.
I set the snare and immediately queue up an evac order back to my campsite. The good news is this time I remembered the correct option to break Bassy's little army, so I only have to deal with him and (assuming I survive) get a bunch of bolts and crossbows to pawn off. Unfortunately he made his save, so he isn't slowed. Blah. Also I failed my save against Rigid Thinking, but this is less of a problem since I'm in range of my campsite trap so if he decides to chase me after all he's going to find himself in a lot of trouble.
The good news is that this also confirms that Jimfix backported into my save game. Once Rigid Thinking wears off I wait for another successful HiS to proc and dare a backstab... that deals all of six damage.
The good news is that he's so slow on the draw that by the time he gets his Hold Person spell off I'm almost back to camp, and I made my save anyway so it was a wasted spell. I set my regular snare a bit closer to Bassy this time (my campsite snare was set before resting, so I have an extra trap to play with) We do this song and dance a second time (but at bow range) and sure enough I fail the second save. Nothing to do but wait out the hold.
The good news is that Bassy is finally out of spells, so he has to close in on me. The bad news is that it took both my campsite and the one I had just set to take him down, which means I absolutely need to rest - and which means I have to rest unprotected. I'm also running out of inventory space so I can't actually lump all these extra crossbows back to Beregost for money. I cross my fingers and rest in the henge.
Now it's time for what is the scariest moment of all this pre-Nashkel stuff - the Hobgoblin Trio of Things and Stuff. I want that +2 shortsword, dammit. I set two snares, rest, and set two more snares - I have a total of four snares waiting for these ugly knobgoblins. This is not a fair fight, but then again a thief that finds himself in a fair fight has done something very wrong. I lead the trio through the hallway of snares and...
I take advantage of Malkax being slowed to engage him in melee before he can spot me. The even better news? I can start using the Whistling Sword +2 with this fight! Nothing can reasonably stop me! Malkax falls quickly, giving me time to breathe. I head to the western border first to unlock the Archaeological Dig Site, then instead head back to Beregost to rest, pawn off a bunch of spoils (not Ashideena, as I need a war hammer for someone later), and collect my reward for killing Bassy. It's not enough to finish the level, so I go find Brage and save his brain - this pushes me over 10k exp, which gives me Bounty Hunter 5 (and 20 points that I split between the Stealth skills - remember, FT 40% is enough for the traps in Nashkel Mines 3) - and more importantly, a free trip to Nashkel. I love taking the Express Brage. There's a few things I'm going to do before solving the problem in the mines (I want level 6), but first I want to rest - which means I need to get rid of Niera. I get my Rep +1 from Oublek first, then set a regular snare outside the inn (since I won't have time to set both inside).
Uh, what party?
Neira - very stupidly - follows me out into the street. Even if it wasn't for the trap I set there before, Rasaad helps out if he's not in the party if he detects you fighting someone. He doesn't care if it's Neiera or Nimbul (but he's supposed to be helping against Nimbul, who spawns outside the inn). I let Rasaad down gently - I do plan on using him in this run, but I want to finish sidequesting first so that I'm at peak level before the EXP split. I pick up my Cure Light Wounds and set some snares for Nimbul later.
Next time - I force open a road between Nashkel and the Friendly Arm Inn so that I can attempt to rescue Samuel. Also I need to obtain more Arrows of Biting (blah)
When I opened a game up in Shadowkeeper a while back, I there was the option in "Appearances" of having the appearance of a tiefling. That option since I added some more mods has disappeared. I am hoping that I can regain that option by re-installing the relevant mod. Can anyone give advice?

After emerging from Candlekeep catacombs, laden down with unreadable books that looked precious (really Edwin, 18 intelligence and you can't bloody read books? oh yeah, must be those anti theft enchantments again... that the moron Bard hanging around in Beregost can break without even trying), first stop was obviously the chicken killing mage. Then Beregost to pick up Branwyn and Kivan.
Coran was very quiet and subdued on the journey, with an odd haunted look about him. "Viconia, I think you've broken him, what did I say about being careful with your toys?" "Is it my fault the Darthiir has no stamina" "That's a little unfair considering the amount of traps he stumbled into and then being turned to stone, that's got to take it out of a person" "He should be grateful we wasted a scroll on him, at least he would be of some use as a garden ornament" So looks like we will be losing Coran the moment Viconia has her back turned.
Kivan and Branwyn were pleased to see us, then I had to tell them the news about my parentage. They took it well, Branwyn pointed out that she did actually worship a God who was up to his neck in slaughter and Kivan said he followed a God who would really like to be when it came to Drow (glaring at Viconia). The words "houses", "glass", "stones" and "throwing" pretty much summed it up.
(Perhaps we should change the title, The Murderous Deity Family?)
So where to next, what's the plan? Return to Baldurs Gate, beard the lion in his den? Run like crazy in the opposite direction? Get drunk? It was really no contest. We were kicked out of the Fieldpost on the third day, the Wizard wouldn't let us in, the Juggler called the guards as we approached, so that left the Red Sheaf and nobody wanted to go there.
"Lets go and check out some ruins, we're good at that" "Why?" "Treasure and stuff and nobody will think to look for us there" "They probably have more sense, let the dungeaons do the work for them" "Nah, we're experts, we should advertise "Dungeon Masters R' Us"
So it was with high hopes and aching heads we approached the Ulcaster School Ruins. Or we would have had we not bumped into a spectacularly bad tempered ghost on the way. He wanted our blood, we just wanted him to talk a bit quieter. He had a few tricks up his sleeve (which was clever as he was a sleleton and had no sleeves, not really anything to fill them either). He called lightning, Branwyn was wearing the boots of Talos and we have a ton of absoption potions and protection from Undead scrolls and it took him too long to figure that out. And when he finally did, well Edwin has a 100 charge monster summoning wand. Expensive but worth every penny (or should that be gold piece?)
The next ghost we met was far more reasonable, kept his voice down, practically whispered his request for us to fetch him a book. So down we went into the ruins. Dealt with some wolves. Sent a protected Viconia ahead to trigger the traps as she had scared away Coran, though she grumbled about it. All going nicely until we disturbed a Super Wolf and then the Super Wolf called his pals. But we were prepared, and had already called up our own pals who stopped lots of them in the corridor. Hard fight, we didn't emerge unscathed, but it did cure the hangovers. Picked up a body and the book. Gave the body to yet another ghost wandering around who wanted to repell the invaders, didn't have the heart to tell him he was a bit late. Handed in the book to the friendly ghost up top.
Buoyed with our success, Firewine Ruins next. Traveled to Gullykin, come on, who wouldn't want to visit a cutesy Halfling Village full of Happy Halflings? Met Alora, but told her we didn't need a thief as Viconia was doing a grand job triggering traps, (Kivan stop sniggering in the background). Turned out there was a Halfling traitor working for an Ogre Mage, using his house as a back entrance. That was blocked so had to go through the Temple's wine cellar. Of course the obvious question that nobody liked to raise (as Halflings are so cute) was "why the f*ck are there so many entrances in your cutesy Halfling Village to sinister, dangerous ruins".
It was rather refreshing to meet kobalds again, felt a bit like coming home. And with Edwin and a charged wand of fire, we really did "keep the home fires burning" (and the kobalds, ogrillons, mage, ogre). Some more ghosts who wanted an old suit of armour from another skeleton, armour envy? I jest, it was tragic, a bard told us why when we emerged. betrayal, murder ect., made a poem out of it. Though again with these artist types, why are you creating your art where nobody comes to see/hear it in the middle of nowhere? Try the town, even the worst busker can figure that out.
Came across a deranged woman with a jar fetish, it didn't end well. She died, Khaark turned up, we ran, we prepared, we came back. He was good, I'll give him that, but not that good and there are five of us. Though Branwyn took a little nap until we could get her back to the temple when I shot her while confused. Sorry Branwyn, but you were pretty confused yourself at that point. Least said, soonest mended. Again arrows of dispelling and plenty of summons to soak up the pressure. At one point had to fireball Khaark and the knocked out summons so we could summon some more. Lots of space though, that helped a lot.
So wearily we returned to the cute Halfling Village, resurrected Branwyn, warned Alora about Edwin (or was that Edwin about Alora). Made a fuss of Viconia because her trap triggering skills are getting very good, she wasn't mollified in the slightest and I hate to imagine what the stream of Drow she was directing at me was about. But then, how bad can it be being cursed considering that's pretty much already taken care of by "Daddy" being who he was?
Later that evening, as the wine was beginning to flow, we discussed our next move. "We have to go back to Baldurs Gate to confront Sarevok and clear our names" "Don't look at me, as a RWofT, my name is far above anything this barbaric country could affect" "As a Drow, I doubt anybody will believe anything other than the worst" "Well technically, we weren't there" "Great, so I'm on my own then... arseholes"
"We didn't say that, of course Kivan and I will stand by you" "They put me in a jail, such indignity I will not stand, your name is of little consequence but it suits me to show them the error of their ways" "I will enjoy showing them what a Drow can do when riled" "Awww, you guys, I'm tearing up here, come on, group hug, group hug,"
If you have been following my playthrough, you will be aware that I have completed Durlags but haven't returned to Ulgoth's Beard. Until now. And as it makes no sense to do this in a storied playthrough, posting the record here.
Arrived at UB, immediately after the cult speech, went invisible. And ran away, right up to the far left hand corner by the sea. Went to sleep until it was night (to get rid of townsfolk wandering around), then headed back, fully buffed up, 5 skeletons. Sent Edwin in, cast web, then grease then cloudkill where the cultists wait for you. Sent the skeletons in to do as much damage as possible and then withdrew out of sight. When things had calmed down, sent Kivan for an invisible look see.
There are two problems, one the mage, but worse much worse IMO are the assasins. We had managed to kill one, caught and gassed, but the mage was still alive and one assasin. Mage cast confusion on Kivan when he was trying to shoot a dispelling arrow, quickly disarmed him before it hit so he didn't start shooting townsfolk/us. The 3 skellies left attacked, summoned what we could, stayed back by Mendas house, waited for the assasin and hoped they wouldn't one shot anybody before Vic could cast invisibility purge. It was close but everybody made it.
Next step, ice island. No problems, Vic runs the traps with a magic protection potion, nothing gave us much trouble and I get the stoneskin scroll. And about a billion ice wolf pelts.
So back to UB, have to clear out the cult base. Web the outside, send Kivan in with the spider sword to lure them out, they get caught, we shoot them. That's the plan, and it pretty much worked. Once again an assassin gave us problems, but didn't manage to kill anybody. The mage was dealt with, with arrows and skellies taking the brunt of magic attacks and secret word. (the problem I find is having to keep Edwin safe from assasins yet needing to use the magic). And like an idiot, completely forgot I now have stoneskin and never remember mirror image. Edwin went down to the second assassin, so a trip to the FAI before Aec Latec.
Aec Latec, sorry, had to cheese this one. Kivan took out all the cult guards before we triggered anything. Then run upstairs, Edwin did most of the rest with cloudkill, the woman leader was killed, that just left AL. Who is immune to magic for a time , but I have four castings of cloudkill, got off two, and they take effect after a while. Then back upstairs, AL followed, eventually killed him. But Kivan got caught with a gaze, had used his mirored eyes downstairs and I didn't think to use another one, idiot.
So afraid I reloaded and did AL again, the same but this time was successful.
I did a few odd jobs for the wild mages and got a mate for my familiar then we swapped Mazzy for a thief that looked like my sister and Viconia got the flick for a doomguard. I wanted Dorn because he is better against level drainers but it turns out his Achilles heel is green jelly... bugger! ... an easy quest if you use the doomguard, is harder but doable with the Bard we grabbed to replace him to get Hexxat in true form.
both sides want me to come see them now
Bug:
despite going splat we spot another Dorn after leaving... this is obviously a police trick so we just walked past and pretended not to notice the halforc.
"So here's the problem as I see it. We need to get into Baldurs Gate to go after Sarevok but the FF are after us for murder, any suggestions?" "I can cast invisibility (of course I can, it's as if they haven't noticed my power) but there are some drawbacks" "Drawbacks?" "Well you cannot do anything while invisible otherwise you break it" "Anything, like what?" "Talk to anybody, open doors, pick something up, eat, drink, climb stairs.." "Climb stairs? Why would I not be able to climb stairs, it's not that different from walking around, just upwards. What about walking up or down a slope?" "Well of course you can walk up a slope, that's still walking" "How about running" "That's just fast walking" "And climbing stairs is just vertical walking" "Do you want me to help or don't you?"
We headed through the city, desperately dodging people, avoiding steps (how bizarre is this rule?) until we were away from the main street. Took a breather in a back alley and broke invisibility. Where next? Needed to get across the city without being seen. Decided to use the sewers.
As we slunk around the back of the Sorcerers Sundries, we were approached by a woman. And not just any woman, Sarevok's girlfriend, Sarevok's girlfriend who was helping him the night Gorion was killed. I slammed her against the wall and would have throttled her there and then if the others hadn't warned me not to draw any attention. She actually had the gall to try and bargain with me for Sarevok's life, delusional (and that accent, what was she going for, "I would talk to you"). No, next time I see you, you will die.
So after scaring off Tamoko, another ever so helpful "let me fill you in with all that's been happening" random passerby (sure) stopped to pass the time of day. In a nutshell, Sarevok has taken over the Iron Throne on the death of his father, is angling to be elected a Duke (after killing a couple of the incumbents), and pushing for war with Amn. Scar our contact with the FF has been murdered and Duke Eltan, who sent us to Candlekeep, is on his deathbed being attended by a dodgy doctor. We should have joined the squatters in Durlags Tower, there was plenty of room.
First task, rescue the Duke, we need an ally. Sent Kivan, used invisibility potions (much better than the spell, you can go upstairs), killed the dodgy doctor (who just happened to be a doppleganger, quelle surprise) and carried the Duke to safety at the Habourmasters (don't ask).
Next, need evidence against Sarevok, Iron Throne building is the best bet. The place was in disarray, made our way to the top, met another girlfriend (Sarevok you naughty dog you), she told us all she knew in exchange for her life, it didn't work. Found some letters to a couple of assasins holed up in the UnderCellars, And Sarevok's diary.
It wasn't the best written book I've read, not by a long shot. Too much angst and destiny. But very enlightning. So Sarevok is another "child of Bhaal" which makes him a sort of brother I suppose. Though not the "Bhaalspawn" mentioned in the prophecies, that's gotta burn. And the grand plan is to start a war, shed lots of blood and "Daddy" will be reborn and embrace Sarevok as his true heir. Far be it from me to point out the obvious flaw that Bhaal isn't really what one would think of as "father of the year".
Back down the sewers to the Under Cellar, Edwin led the way, never seen him move so fast, to deal with the assassins, Slyth and Kristen. It's usually nice to see a happily married couple who enjoy each others hobbies...usually. These two took disturbing and deranged to a whole different level. The fight didn't go at all as planned. Kivan was killed with a backstab, then we managed to kill Slyth. Then the widow turned up and knocked all of us out. What saved us was the skellies blocking her in a room while the rest of us had a nap. Complete chance, she couldn't get out of one of the side rooms and roamed back and forth not being able to do anything much. Finally we woke up and she wasted a lot of her spells on the skellies. Found the invitations to the palace for Sarevoks election.
So we are off to the palace, but needed to do something about the sewer gunk. Branwyn, Viconia and myself borrowed some dresses, not exactly the usual outfits seen in high society. Edwin and Kivan strongarmed a couple of "visitors" for their clothes and carried the weapons. We made it just in time to get through the doors before the election. Potions and spells as we had had to abandon our armour.
Approached the Dukes and Duchess with the evidence and then Sarevok made his move. Most of the assembled guests were actually dopplegangers and they went for the Dukes. Edwin webbed the whole room, we ran back, then ranged attack, skeletons and Kivan with the spider sword (we'd popped into a temple for Kivan BTW). The only one who gave us trouble was the doppleganger mage.
Sarevok, his big plan in ruins, ran away. And of course the Dukes looked to us to go after him and stop him once and for all. Teleported us after him, ended up in the Thieves Guild and was told he had gone down the secret, secret passage (which was virtually signposted) to the ancient city lying underneath Baldurs Gate.
We headed down the stairs, found an injured woman who had been stabbed by Sarevok. She pointed the way to the maze and warned us about the "jellies who keep the place clean". We looked at the entrance, we looked at each other and thought "nah, this can wait a bit". Back to the Elfsong for a spot of dinner, rest and relaxation, Sarevok wasn't going anywhere. He was waiting for his "destiny" in the form of killing me to please his Daddy.
"I'm not sure I should drag you all into this" "I will see it through to the end, Tazok will answer to me for Deheiriana" "I would still be encased in stone had you not freed me" "I would be dead at the hands of the Flaming Fist" "Sarevok/Koveras stood me up" "So it's decided then, we go and fight and finish this".
The maze was long, boring, dangerous and amazingly clean, using those jellies was a stroke of genius. Two battle horrors, two extremely tough skeletons and lots of traps. Viconia "volunteered" for trap duty (when will this hand injury heal, this is getting ridiculous, losing all my skills here). At the end of the maze we found an injured Winksi Perorate, former tutor/guide to Sarevok. He told us that we would find Sarevok waiting in an old Bhaal temple (so cliche).
We came across a group of mercenaries sent by other branches of the Iron Throne. Sarevok's antics had cause profits to drop and they were not at all pleased about that. So why they attacked us was a mystery. We quickly drunk invisibility potions and ran for it. Sent Edwin back on his own to sort them out. Tamoko was waiting outside the temple. Well she couldn't say I didn't warn her. Rather good armour as well.
Finally we entered the temple, got prepared and started the fight.
out of story mode
You have to trigger the conversation with Sarevok otherwise you can't kill anybody with SCS. So webbed the area thoroughly, a couple of cloudkills, then triggered Sarevok. Then it's just a matter of keeping him occupied while you kill the others, easier said than done as they turn into tough skeletons after dying. And you can't kill Sarevok before everybody else is dead
We drank so many potions it's a wonder we didn't poison ourselves. Then protections on top, we were glowing. Kept Branwyn and Viconia at the back, their job was to deal with the skeletons. Edwin lurked after the initial spells, the main job was Kivan and me shooting dispelling, detonation and biting arrows. Kivan found Tazok, he was already quite injured from the cloudkill so didn't take long to go down. I took out the mage/archer one with detonation arrows. Viconia and Branwyn took on the resulting skeletons, Edwin used the summoning wand to keep Sarevok occupied in between throwing spells. It was all going well, all of the them were dead and now skeletons, then Viconia got caught in a corner by two skeletons and was killed. But we were down to the last two skeletons and Sarevok. Kivan and I switched to melee to deal with them, got a lucky break with the summoning wand, wolves, which gave us enough time to finish them. That just left Sarevok and then it's just easy to kite and shoot.
Because of losing Vicky, did the fight again.
So finished the no reload with two reloads, one when Branwyn was chunked in Durlags, one when Kivan was death gazed by Aec Latec. So don't think this really qualifies.
I'll write a finishing chapter, it's harder to write storyish when there lots of things to do, it all gets a bit went here/did that. I'm also going to carry on to SOD, see what I can do with it.
Here resumes the record of Goiwam Wlfwlfqlcpr the Misspelled
I decide to play with Lord Binky the Buffoon for a bit at the outset; I go for three loops before stopping. Unfortunately, I screwed up and left East instead of South, which put me in Slime Mage's Map. This is a bad place for me to be right now. And then screw up a second time and enter Gibberling Cliffs instead of just opening them up. I don't think Samuel's going to survive.
Nope.
On my way to opening up the road between the FAI and Gibberling Cliffs, I wander into the Larswood. And I'm level 5. This was almost by accident (it wasn't - I'm trying to not trigger the Neera event until after I've got some allies, so I left Beregost via the Temple).
This is enough allies to survive Shoal, at least.
Nope.
Of course, traveling west from Larswood puts us right up against an Ogre with a belt fetish, who is easily dispatched under the weight of third-tier magic missiles. Then again, Baeloth's spell selection combined with Advanced AI isn't the best combination in the world...
I also put the Girdle of Tumblr's Vengeance onto Baeloth as a 'disguise.' He behaved appropriately. Perhaps this would have been better suited to a female drow? Of course, we don't even make it to Shoal - I took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up at the Watcher, which is full of enemies throwing around poison.
I wind up back at the excavation site. With Baeloth dead I get full XP so I take advantage of the diversion to play bodyguard. Except not.
Damn, I forgot how dangerous the wilderlands are. The good news is that the map transition ends the poison without applying more poison damage, so I manage to survive marching for a day and a half back to Beregost. Since I need some cannon fodder for Shoal, I drop 800 gold to rez him. I finally reach Shoal's map and start setting snares (a ghoul comes by and eats one of my regular snares). I have Baeloth drink one of his Speedily Stolen Slave's Salves, but this makes him drunk - now I really need to rest, but can't because Coastal Khark is on his way to the traps.
I should have rested a second time before starting this. On the plus side, Baeloth used Invisibility Purge, which I would have forgotten that he even knew so that helps.
Having a pet drow is fun. Although now I'm trying to figure out how to make both Shoal hostile AND make Droth appear - that's not something I've actively wanted to do before. We take the next map transition back to Beregost to rest and recuperate for the next session. I still need to open the road between Nashkel and Beregost for Samuel.
Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer trilogy attempt 129 We managed two sessions with this pair (Shadowdancer and Druid). The first session seemed relatively straightforward. Session two saw reputation reach 20 and some shopping done, despite a half-elf resistance to the potion of clarity seeing Peren charmed by sirines and chasing after Gaarah. Peren recovered both times but with sirines spread out she took various wounds and toxins and eventually fell dead.
Gaarah casually cut down the last of the sirines, half expecting to be charmed or feebleminded but getting away with it. A temple visit drew life back into Peren and the duo removed three flesh golems from a cave to loot it. On to Durlags Tower where a couple of Battle Horrors were calmly despatched before Gaarah decided to see if Ike could liven things up.
Ike did the 2 minute tour, culminating in a Demon Knight appearing and throwing a fireball in Gaarah's general direction. Ouch.
Gaarah moved away but the Demon Knight had a second fireball and threw it in a different direction which was where Gaarah was limping to. Time to throw a crispy hand into the air, and time for MP130.
"So here's the problem as I see it. We need to get into Baldurs Gate to go after Sarevok but the FF are after us for murder, any suggestions?"
1) Firstly, I ensure that the FF are never after me. When collecting Duke Eltan, enter the FF hasted and invisible.
Collect him, nip into the adjacent room whilst the doppelganger casts spells.
Go invisible again. Take him ro the harbour master.
You can leave the party in a shop whilst you do this to avoid over-usage of potions.
2) If the Flaming Fist are after you, you travel through the sewers. It is a good idea to clear much of the sewers before you actually need to use them. Haste is again invaluable (Either from a spell, a scroll, or potions.)
Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer trilogy attempt 130 - (update 1) Seeker, dwarf priest of Helm (Grond0) & Skeu, human skald (Gate70)
At the start of our session Gate70 was relating the tale of how annoying it was that the Demon Knight at Durlag's Tower had killed the blackguard he was running in single player. Obviously keen for revenge he signed up to Ike's tour in order to see whether that offered a short-cut to killing the beast. It did indeed offer a short-cut - though to MP 130 . The new random classes saw a couple of kits chosen we don't have huge experience with, so should offer a bit of opportunity for exploration. As usual Shoal was first on the agenda to provide a kick start to the run and she was finished off without problems. Seeker then went to collect a magic resistance potion, but heard in the distance a whooshing sound as another character went up in smoke (Seeker correctly deducing that a pickpocket attempt had failed). I think it was at this point that a slightly plaintive voice came over Skype saying something like "I suspect I'm not in the mood for no-reload." Personally I think Gate70 was just trying to get back at me after trying (and failing) to get me to drink a potion after being poisoned by the sirines in the previous run - there was a touch of Mr Creosote about his desire to get me to take "just a little sip" .
Seeker, priest of Helm 2, 18 HPs, 7 kills Skeu, skald 3, 21 HPs, 4 kills, 1 death
@UnderstandMouseMagic I enjoyed your write-up of your partridge family. It's hard to do for an entire trilogy. It's your run, do with it as you will. All I can tell you if you keep writing narrative, I'll keep reading it. Have fun.
Watching Sarevok dissolve into dust was a somewhat sobering experience, is that my fate? Kind of instant cremation without the bother of building a fire. Very ecologically sound.
Ach, no time for that, time to party. No more assassins, no more running away. I was rich, famous, a hero and a local celebrity. Lots of celebratory dinners and award ceremonies, lots of wine, lots of admirers. I could get used to it.
Of course it didn't last, I was approached for one last job, hunting down the last of Sarevok's followers in another old Bhaal temple. Not that I was aware he had followers, kept that a bit quiet, and they hadn't ever shown up previously to give him a hand. So gathered the party together, can't venture forth on my own, to see if they'd be willing to come with me.
They agreed (reluctantly) and we headed for the ruins of an old Temple. And guess who showed up with the official forces, Imoen. Hadn't seen her since I left Candlekeep. She was well in with the Dukes, being taught magic, no less, by the Duchess. Of course she wasn't there to help, oh no, just in an advisory capacity. We chatted like old friends (well she did and I kind of squirmed and looked at my feet when she reminded me of how I'd nicked her stuff and left her on the road). Turns out she had hooked up with Jaheira and Khalid at the FAI and had travelled with them for a while.
So another temple ruins, more dust, damp, mould, the usual. Crazy sleletons and wraith things (spectral undead to you). The former followers of Sarevok gave up surprisingly easily, probably fed up hanging around in such dismal surroundings. They had been tasked with retrieving Sarevok's sword, and told not to clean it of blood, for some buyer in Athkatla. Sounds ominous though not sure whose blood they will find on it. We never went near his sword in the fight, you have to be joking, did you see the size of it? And he didn't stab himself and he turned to dust anyway. So wolves, hobgoblins, Winski Perorate, the shadow thief?
There were traps (Hi Vicky, could you just walk over there a bit, yep that's good, now the other side) and chests, chests we couldn't open. Chests that Kivan having drunk a potion of cloud giant strength still couldn't break open. If ever there is an apocalypse, I want a shelter made by the same people who made those chests. We killed their leader Korlasz, I think she tried to surrender, it was all going down at the time. And made our way out.
Back to Baldurs Gate and the moment I had been dreading. My trustworthy (lol) companions were going their seperate ways, the Partridge Family was breaking up.
"I'm taking Branwyn to Shilmista, we're going to get married" "Congratulations, can I be a bridesmaid?" "Viconia, if you come to Shilmista they will kill you on sight" "I will be the Best Man (of course)" "I don't think there will be time enough for you to travel back from Thay. We have to marry as soon as possible" "Branwyn, are you trying to tell us something?"
"It's time I made my own way, I have learnt much of the surfacer ways from travelling with you" "Is that good or bad?" "Trust is for the foolish and the dead" "Vicky, you're all heart" "Don't call me that.....abbil "
"It's time to return to Thay and demonstrate my superiority" "I'm sure they are looking forward to it" "And what of you?" "I'm going to kick back, relax and enjoy myself" "I can help you with that"
And so we separated outside Baldurs Gate. It had been a long road but finally it was over.
@UnderstandMouseMagic I enjoyed your write-up of your partridge family. It's hard to do for an entire trilogy. It's your run, do with it as you will. All I can tell you if you keep writing narrative, I'll keep reading it. Have fun.
Thank you, Glad you enjoyed it.
It didn't really start as a storied playthrough but just got out of hand. As you can see I have started SOD. I don't like it much but there maybe some fun to be had with the absurdities. And I do like M'khiin.
Gate70/Grond0 multiplayer trilogy attempt 130 - (update 2) Seeker, dwarf priest of Helm (Grond0) & Skeu, human skald (Gate70)
After the excesses of recent sessions we had a somewhat more controlled approach today. The session started with a focus on reputation quests. Seeker (who is charismatically, as well as vertically, challenged) made the mistake of talking to Charleston Nib himself and being told to go away, but there were plenty of more accommodating folk out there even after Melicamp invited himself as the guest of honor at a chicken dinner.
Seeker was quite prepared to levy his own form of {evil} justice - for instance Zhurlong found himself facing a severe punishment for stealing despite making restitution. He was also not above liberating goods from those with no use for them - sanctuary allowing him to raid the ankhegs. He did though take on the ankheg near Tenya despite Skeu's slight reluctance to engage. Seeker's competence with his standard melee attack was about as good as you might expect from a low-level cleric. He did therefore use his seeking sword special ability in a few fights - for a high level cleric that's a poor option, but at low levels tripling APR and adding +4 THAC0 is pretty vicious. With reputation at 20 the normal round of shopping took place before we decided to crank up the XP: - Skeu provided protection against basilisk gaze. The basilisks recognised the mage spell and quickly switched to melee, but they struggled to hit Seeker through his ankheg armor and were soon taken down. Mutamin was silenced and Kirian's mob were only saved from puking their guts out by Korax's paralysation touch.- At the lighthouse some skeletons got an outing to help deal quickly with the sirines. The golems in the cave were mainly shot up, though they did get a couple of licks of their own in before going down. There was also a moment of concern when Seeker was caught by the hold trap. His sanctuary would have expired just before the hold person and Skeu got ready to play target there - but the golem moved away anyway. - The battle horrors at Durlag's also found it hard to get a hit in. Seeker didn't do much damage himself, but spells and the odd wand blast from Skeu soon dealt with them. Upstairs, more petrification protection saw another sizeable XP haul from basilisks to get Seeker up to level 7 and access to level 4 spells (the tome to push up his wisdom also gave a couple of additional spells). There was also one of those MP glitches where Skeu was able to see and target a greater ghoul from the depths of the dungeon - its treasure though, while visible, was tantalisingly out of reach. Seeker, priest of Helm 7, 62 HPs, 75 kills Skeu, skald 7, 46 HPs, 84 kills, 1 death
OK, I'm going to have to retitle as the "family" has split up. And being the egoist (as ever), meet,
The Reluctant Bhaalspawn
Still sticking to no reload, SCS, hard (not that I have SCS on SOD) and sometimes insane.
After our magnificent triumph against Sarevok and finally having mopped up his previously invisible and unknown followers, I took up residence in the palace at the Duke's invite (get me). But all was not well, a fanatic with a Messiah complex was causing trouble to the north.
Caelar Argent aka The Shining Lady. I wasn't sure what her problem was, something about rescuing lost souls who had been killed previously in some war or the other with some demons who lived in Dragonspear Castle. So she had the bright idea to start another war with the same demons but this time was calling it a crusade. Apparently rampaging through the countryside collecting followers (or if unwilling, coercing people to follow) and laying waste everywhere makes her on the side of the angels? Not in my book.
Refugees were pouring into Baldurs Gate and things were getting out of hand. So the Dukes of BG spoke to the other Dukes of other places and were organising a joint effort to stop CA (personally would have thought it would be better to sit on the sidelines and watch the demons deal with her, and then mop up afterwards). I wasn't really interested in getting involved, but oh no, that wasn't going to happen. Assassins were sent after me in the palace (and once again Baldurs Gate's notoriously lax security was found wanting, when will they learn?). Imoen was poisoned and I was "persuaded" to take a role in the campaign.
A captain by the name of Schael Corwin was assigned to me as a minder, the most humourless woman it has ever been my displeasure to meet. She informed me there were some of my former taveling companions dotted around Baldurs Gate who I might want to recruit. Then she showed me the list, their intelligence gathering was seriously flawed, might be why Sarevok had such a free rein.
The only names I recognised were Coran and Garrick. I suppose if Viconia wasn't with me there was a slight possibility they might not run away in terror? Nope, judging from their reaction, that ship had sailed. There was a Dynaheir on the list, can't be the one we had met, she was long dead. You don't recover that easily when you have been poisoned multiple times by giant spiders and you are swelling up and turning black as the poison works it's way through your bloodstream. I suppose it will just have to be me on my own with all those fit and lonely soldiers, could be worse.
The day came for us to leave, with great fanfare and cheering crowds on the street. I said my goodbyes to Imoen and found a hooded man with her. "Oh come off it Elminster, haven't you got fed up with hanging around pretending to be somebody else by now? Haven't you get any tourists to fleece?" "I am not Elminster" "Sure you're not, here, have this gold piece and go and get yourself a nice cup of tea and stop trying to wind people up with enigmatic hints that lead nowhere" "You will learn" "Yes, yes, now off you go" I think he must be lonely.
Exited the palace doors and walked straight into Viconia who was with a duegar.
"Come with me viconia, it will be like old (last week) times" "Of course" "She belongs to me , you can't take my Drow" "I beg your pardon?" "She's my cleric" "Viconia, since when did you let anybody talk to you like this? Why is he still breathing?" "Ayla, it's good to be back"
We marched out of the city (well the soldiers marched, Vic and me tried to look cool and pretend we weren't with them). The crowd started getting nasty, I gave them a rousing speech about being naught but a frail woman but with the heart of a lion. They answered it wasn't so much the heart they were worried about but the possibility of me being a souless, evil child of Bhaal. I said, well that's the chance they would have to take if they wanted me to sort out this religious nut Caelar. They said don't hold it against us if we wait for you to do our dirty work and then turn on you. I said, was it ever any different with Sarevok? They said, fair point, off you go.
We marched and marched and eventually stopped at the Coast Way crossing and set up camp. Or rather the soldiers did while we poked around and tried to escape Corwin who was taking her job as minder far too seriously for my liking. It was an extensive camp, shops, healers and all sorts, certainly put our usual fire and a bedroll if you are lucky to shame. I could get used to traveling with an army at my back.
We wandered around the camp talking to people, checking out the wares they had on sale. Met a gnome called Glint who admitted he was a thief as well as a cleric. He's been sent by his mother to look for errant family members. Viconia approved of my offer to him to join our little party. First so that she wouldn't have to be our trap "expert", second that he had proper respect for his matron mother and third as he was a gnome she wouldn't have to "correct" him quite so much. He doesn't realise how lucky he is and we may actually be able to hang on to this one.
"What about those two over there, the witch and the barbarian?" "You can see them?" "Of course I can see them, why?" "Mmmm, pretty sure we killed them so I thought I was seeing dead people, something to do with being a Bhaalspawn."
The three of us and my minder headed out to check the area around the camp and came across a burnt out inn. The ex owner asked us to look for some heirlooms and a refugee asked us to look for some missing refugees. And bumped into Edwin, or rather he bumped into us. Then he pretended that he didn't know us, then we all pretended it had been ages since he'd seen us (at this point you just have to go with the flow, it's utter nonsense but what can you do?).
"What brings you to this neck of the woods Edwin" "I'm running away from Caelar Argent" "Why?" "She employed me and some other Red Wizards for her crusade, the pay was good" "So what did you do?" "I may have mistaken her insistance that I grovel at her feet for an invitation of a more intimate nature"
With Edwin on board we looked for the missing refugees in the nearby woods and sent Glint to search the burnt out inn for the lost heirlooms. Found five suspiciously lifelike statues and thought "here we go again", and yes it was "here we go again". After killing the mage we restored them. Glint had found a couple of the heirlooms, one of which allowed us to identify magical objects (oddly enough we could identify it, magic huh, so random). Well that isn't going anywhere except for our packbacks, sorry Mr. Burnt Out Inn.
Met a man distributing flyers for the greatest show on earth. Thought we could do with a bit of a diversion, what with the Inn being a ruin and the general air of despondency in the area. Baeloth, need I say more? Rubbish show but hilarious in that so bad it's good way. That is until he set the Goblin against the "wolverine". Neither was amused and the Goblin proceeded to knock seven bells out of Baeloth with the aid of her spirits.
Baeloth wouldn't come with us but the goblin, M'Khiin, was willing. Corwin objected (she would) which made M'Khiin twice as attractive as a party member. With luck she might use some of those spirits to drive her away. That or I'll set Edwin on her (now there's a plan).
We made our way back to the camp, stopping to sing at the large stone Menhir things that we had been told about. They didn't like anybody except me, poisoned Viconia, electrocuted Edwin, summoned a golem on Glint. I love the Menhirs and they love me...apparently.
I could talk about how the Trio did great with the basilisks or how we bested many an assassin. But all that really matters is a certain bard.
Corehide would have been happy to buy a quarterstaff from the Smithy, but Fyle said she can blind Silke to get her staff. Sounded OK. Corehide would have blinded her before talking, but then Truckle said go ahead and talk to her then we will blind. She however saved vs. blindness and Corehide ran - but it was to no avail, as a single lightning bolt was enough to take out his entire 43 HP - RIP Corehide.

Edit: by behaviour proxy it might be half orc half drow
Dridersdoom is 100% drow but doesn't behave like it being chaotic good like Drizzt. I will continue with her until she expires or succeeds. Then I will try my Blackguard half orc.
Journal of Dridersdoom
"I don't know of any Koveras, but the name is Sarevok backwards"
"What name"
"Koveras"
"So you think they might be related? brothers? "
"No, no, the same person"
"But they have different names"
"Somebody else explain, I don't remember her being this stupid, has she had a knock on the head recently?"
"She's been under a lot of stress"
We were teleported to the Catacombs.
"Do not worry, the undead will succomb to Shar's power"
"And my fire"
"Then if it's alright with you I'll stay at the back"
"Nope, you have to find the traps".
"Do your stuff Edwin"
"With pleasure" he said as he mopped doppleganger and ghast bits from his hands.
"So this was where you grew up?"
"Yes"
"And I thought the Underdark was dangerous"
SETUP: BGT, no mods except fixpack and ToBeX
Journal of Dridersdoom
Dridersdoom came to a sticky end fighting the Dark Horizon Assassins in the Nashkel Mines. Pure carelessness. Yes they were tough, but he shouldn't have been in the melee when his armour spell had worn off.Journal of Skardon the Blackguard
Once more I had trouble fighting Mendas.
He won three times in a row.
No backstab ability for a blackguard. Then I had the idea of getting myself trapped in a corner by the rats. Mendas couldn't reach me, but my throwing axes could reach him.
I quite like it that I have to use my brain to defeat him.
Tig-7,
Shade Lord,I don't know what all the fuss is about with Watchers... all I found guarding the place was some bat like gits but I didn't mess with the statues. Viconia got a nice shield for helping to open the trade in a town called under or umber then she put up repulse and we took on the Shade lord.
... an easy battle if you use the ammo suppled and listen to the advice from the consort we rescued.

"Viconia, I think you've broken him, what did I say about being careful with your toys?"
"Is it my fault the Darthiir has no stamina"
"That's a little unfair considering the amount of traps he stumbled into and then being turned to stone, that's got to take it out of a person"
"He should be grateful we wasted a scroll on him, at least he would be of some use as a garden ornament"
So looks like we will be losing Coran the moment Viconia has her back turned.
"Lets go and check out some ruins, we're good at that"
"Why?"
"Treasure and stuff and nobody will think to look for us there"
"They probably have more sense, let the dungeaons do the work for them"
"Nah, we're experts, we should advertise "Dungeon Masters R' Us"
So it was with high hopes and aching heads we approached the Ulcaster School Ruins.
"We have to go back to Baldurs Gate to confront Sarevok and clear our names"
"Don't look at me, as a RWofT, my name is far above anything this barbaric country could affect"
"As a Drow, I doubt anybody will believe anything other than the worst"
"Well technically, we weren't there"
"Great, so I'm on my own then... arseholes"
"We didn't say that, of course Kivan and I will stand by you"
"They put me in a jail, such indignity I will not stand, your name is of little consequence but it suits me to show them the error of their ways"
"I will enjoy showing them what a Drow can do when riled"
"Awww, you guys, I'm tearing up here, come on, group hug, group hug,"
"Can I withdraw my earlier offer?"
Tig-8,
off the fence,I did a few odd jobs for the wild mages and got a mate for my familiar then we swapped Mazzy for a thief that looked like my sister and Viconia got the flick for a doomguard.
Completed Werewolf Island.
That is all.
"So here's the problem as I see it. We need to get into Baldurs Gate to go after Sarevok but the FF are after us for murder, any suggestions?"
"I can cast invisibility (of course I can, it's as if they haven't noticed my power) but there are some drawbacks"
"Drawbacks?"
"Well you cannot do anything while invisible otherwise you break it"
"Anything, like what?"
"Talk to anybody, open doors, pick something up, eat, drink, climb stairs.."
"Climb stairs? Why would I not be able to climb stairs, it's not that different from walking around, just upwards. What about walking up or down a slope?"
"Well of course you can walk up a slope, that's still walking"
"How about running"
"That's just fast walking"
"And climbing stairs is just vertical walking"
"Do you want me to help or don't you?"
"I'm not sure I should drag you all into this"
"I will see it through to the end, Tazok will answer to me for Deheiriana"
"I would still be encased in stone had you not freed me"
"I would be dead at the hands of the Flaming Fist"
"Sarevok/Koveras stood me up"
"So it's decided then, we go and fight and finish this".
Finishing levels
Edwin 10
Viconia/Branwyn 9
Kivan 8
Ayla SB10/fighter8
I'll write a finishing chapter, it's harder to write storyish when there lots of things to do, it all gets a bit went here/did that. I'm also going to carry on to SOD, see what I can do with it.
Would love any comments.
We managed two sessions with this pair (Shadowdancer and Druid).
Seeker, dwarf priest of Helm (Grond0) & Skeu, human skald (Gate70)
Seeker, priest of Helm 2, 18 HPs, 7 kills
Skeu, skald 3, 21 HPs, 4 kills, 1 death
"I'm taking Branwyn to Shilmista, we're going to get married"
"Congratulations, can I be a bridesmaid?"
"Viconia, if you come to Shilmista they will kill you on sight"
"I will be the Best Man (of course)"
"I don't think there will be time enough for you to travel back from Thay. We have to marry as soon as possible"
"Branwyn, are you trying to tell us something?"
"It's time I made my own way, I have learnt much of the surfacer ways from travelling with you"
"Is that good or bad?"
"Trust is for the foolish and the dead"
"Vicky, you're all heart"
"Don't call me that.....abbil "
"It's time to return to Thay and demonstrate my superiority"
"I'm sure they are looking forward to it"
"And what of you?"
"I'm going to kick back, relax and enjoy myself"
"I can help you with that"
And so we separated outside Baldurs Gate. It had been a long road but finally it was over.
It didn't really start as a storied playthrough but just got out of hand. As you can see I have started SOD. I don't like it much but there maybe some fun to be had with the absurdities.
And I do like M'khiin.
Seeker, dwarf priest of Helm (Grond0) & Skeu, human skald (Gate70)
With reputation at 20 the normal round of shopping took place before we decided to crank up the XP:
- Skeu provided protection against basilisk gaze.
Seeker, priest of Helm 7, 62 HPs, 75 kills
Skeu, skald 7, 46 HPs, 84 kills, 1 death
Haven't you get any tourists to fleece?"
"I am not Elminster"
"Sure you're not, here, have this gold piece and go and get yourself a nice cup of tea and stop trying to wind people up with enigmatic hints that lead nowhere"
"You will learn"
"Yes, yes, now off you go"
I think he must be lonely.
Exited the palace doors and walked straight into Viconia who was with a duegar.
"Come with me viconia, it will be like old (last week) times"
"Of course"
"She belongs to me , you can't take my Drow"
"I beg your pardon?"
"She's my cleric"
"Viconia, since when did you let anybody talk to you like this? Why is he still breathing?"
"Ayla, it's good to be back"
We marched out of the city (well the soldiers marched, Vic and me tried to look cool and pretend we weren't with them).
"What about those two over there, the witch and the barbarian?"
"You can see them?"
"Of course I can see them, why?"
"Mmmm, pretty sure we killed them so I thought I was seeing dead people, something to do with being a Bhaalspawn."
"What brings you to this neck of the woods Edwin"
"I'm running away from Caelar Argent"
"Why?"
"She employed me and some other Red Wizards for her crusade, the pay was good"
"So what did you do?"
"I may have mistaken her insistance that I grovel at her feet for an invitation of a more intimate nature"
