tested party with 5skalds and one archer, archer had -10thac0 -16ac and did around 40dmg each arrow just outside irenicus dungeon, with tuigan bow and improved haste thats 400dmg a round or so while bards sing. second test was 5jesters and archer and archer didnt even got hit ones because monsters were killing each other. 6bards with skulltraps utterly annihilated anything there is dragons/demons/liches, and blades are just too good.
As is, there's no point in being a Bard that isn't a half-elf and if there were elven bards, there wouldn't be any point in being anything except an elven bard.
And unlike a lot of other people around here, I don't really consider "rp flavor" a reason to pick any particular race over another. It's all about the benjamins, baby.
At least for my blade when I make one I will unabashedly make her an Elven Blade with Gatekeeper/Shadowkeeper and not feel bad about it in the slightest.

I was thinking about making an Elf Skald for my Black Pit party...only to recall they can't be Bards. I know your pain.
