Helm of Balduran question

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
New user, sorry if I've posted this in the wrong forum but it didn't seem to fit in the troubleshooting or bug forums. Anyway, I'm playing a high-Dex fighter/thief imported from bg1, and hung on to the Helm of Balduran intending to use it on my PC. Here's the issue: it's actually making my AC worse when I equip it. Is this what it's supposed to do, and I've just been oblivious this whole time? On my inventory page, it says it's applying a -1 to AC but in actuality it's adding a point and changing my AC from 0 to 1. What's the deal? Thanks.

    Sure that it isn't going to -1?

    Never heard of or seen this before. Post a screen shot of the effect with and without the helm equipped.

    Never heard of that before either, it's supposed to drop it from 0 to -1 for example. Always works like a charm for me so your game may be bugged?

    Make sure to double check though.

    It maybe going to -1 and the negative sign is just not showing up or is too small (or off screen ) to see.

    Attempt this. Remove all A.C. items from your character and place the helm on first. If it goes down then there shouldnt be a worry. If it goes up, zip up the saved file and mention it in the bug forum.
