I think I may comment here: it's not a permament production hell, but the team is having a break because life-changing stuff. Some time is needed. I will tag @Zanso and @fluke13 so maybe they will update us. But again, let's give it some time.
I just found out about it, and now I want it too. Hopefully it doesn't die, because that is some really amazing art. It fits the rest of the art style flawlessly, and it's gorgeous.
Ohhhh this area art looks amazing! I like the story outline as well. This would tie in wonderfully with the BG1 world state. Here's to hoping it gets resurrected!
Hi all, Christmas update. The good news is lots more work has been done on this mod. There's been a lot of time challenges this year, with probably the busiest time of my life (building a family, home, career). There are a few more items to iron out and the goal posts have moved a few times.
The main quest line works start to finish and I'm expanding on the side quests and depth of choice. The original concept remains the same, but I've started to fully bring to life some of the original author @Zanso 's ideas. I've started (50%) completed a new NPC as originally intended... The animated suit of armour will have a few different personality options depending on who or what soul gem is used to animate it. There is also a secret (hard to find) subquest which takes you into space and gives you a little spelljammer lore and a nod to BG3.
Timeline: We have a few large BGEE mods in progress at the moment, such as Balduran's Sea Tower and iwd-in-eet. We also have the 2.6 update which I'm confident will release 2020. I think 2020 will be a good year to update/ reinstall mod lists. I'm planning to release a closed beta for Easter... I'll need people to spend quite a few hours testing for bugs and gameplay enjoyment and consistency. I'll then open it up in the summer for anyone to play around with and provide feedback on balance, battles and more technical areas like getting my scripts to work more effectively, packaging the mod more efficiently and setting up traification for multiple languages. By Christmas next year, I'll submit it as the full playable version.
We have some excellent modders on these games, some produce a lot of content, others more niche. My goal is to work mostly on this single mod, with expansion, bug fixes, updates etc. Next year is going to be very busy for me, but I can promise this mod will not be forgotten. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a happy new year ?
Hey, I heard people were asking about the mod... Turns out to be one person but all good things come to those who wait heh. I had a baby end of 2018, so life is really busy now. I've added a link to Icewind dale and a nod to Bg3, so will wait for Bg3 release and iwd-in-eet before a full release. Next year I'll release an open beta. If anyone wants to help the project pm me. I have an area that needs walkmapping, mini stories to code and cool items to create. I also went way off tangent with npcs... Three are WIP... A dwarf rune caster, his unusual adopted daughter and a helmed horror companion. I've also added some cute details like the Innkeeper shouting at you if you leave the door open.
I'm glad to see this mod is still alive. I'm really enthusiastic about seeing new major quests in BG1. I'm in a BG1 run right now with the NPC project and a few mod NPCs and it has been a great campaign so far. It's a shame that this party won't be able to explore this place.
So a minor spoiler, when you agree to help protect the Lord's castle, he'll need your help to raise a motley army to defend it. The quests you undertake around the map will grant you allies, both groups and individuals. You can then do some limited strategizing to defend the castle. The outcome will not only depend on what you did, but how you did it and there are multiple endings for both "good" and "bad" methods. My ethos on doing the right thing and doing the easy thing... Is the "bad path" could lead to more riches, wealth, fame and power. The right path on the other hand could lead to friendships, more story and secrets. But only if you play well, you might mean to take the right path, mess it up and everything goes badly. You might decide to take a darker path for the greater good. If you succeed in gaining the helmed horror NPC... Your chosen path will determine the various souls used to give the creature life, which in turn will determine their personality. At the extreme you could create a silent killing machine, or a loveable companion.
Also, the aim is that even if you mess it all up, the result should feel unique enough that you accept what happened and don't need to reload, at least not until the next playthrough.
Congratulations on your wee one! Hope you are enjoying these strange times as much as possible. Glad to hear this mod is still in development. Will likely set up a BG run this winter if lockdown is here to stay - feel free to pm me for beta-testing.
Hey, well the good news is I always finish what I start. Right now I have little time (2 kids under 3yrs) but I've started looking at the mod again and getting old files onto my new pc. I'm not in a rush, but probably will have something to release towards the end of next year.
Take all the time you need. Actually I'm quite glad to read that you're not anticipating a release any time soon, because all too often the pressure of deadlines for passion projects leads to premature burnout. It's so rare to see such well-done fanmade area art for IE, it absolutely deserves to be enjoyed by the players.
@fluke13 So glad to hear you are still working on this! Would have taken me to at least 20 years to finish this, since most my skill points are specced on artwork and 3d-modelling... and well maybe stories too...
REALLY want to thank @fluke13 for taking over this overly time consuming work, which mostly likely I never would have had the time to finish in any sensible time if ever...
@Isewein Glad to hear you enjoy the artwork Should maybe involve myself more in IE projects with that, since that is actually not so time consuming for me

Any new about this mod?
I'd love to see these beautiful areas ingame.

How fares progress? We're still eager for this public release!
Thankee!
