I wonder which could be the best build to use The Brick...
I thought about WS13/Mage, but is it truly the best choice? WS is going to normaly shutdown the spellcasting of the target, so the Wild Magic effect is not truly interesting
On the other side, an Archer cannot get more than 1 point of proefficiency, which make lose 5 damage and 1APR, but there is that thing... Called Shot, which is going to lower the Saves vs Spells by 1 at each hit... with GWW, that's -10 save vs spell, which should make the on-hit effect of The Brick much more probable
You won't be able to use GWW as only the HLAs for the second class are available for a dualled character. However, a L13 archer would still be able to get 10 APR using improved haste so the substantive point about the benefit of called shot is correct.
@Grond0 I never spoke of dualling the Archer, so there is no "second class" in the context where I spoke of GWW And also, no, you can't get 10 APR with an Archer no matter the weapon you use on it, unless you use GWW

See my hin... just remove the specs for 2hd and such. Unless you like watching midgets try vorpal a dragon.... then just keep the 2hd spec.

Apologies - I assumed your reference to "WS13/Mage" was to a dualled character.
You can get to 10 APR using improved haste. The best weapon for this purpose is the bow you get early on from the Beastmaster in the Copper Coronet. That has a base APR of 3, to which you can add 1 for grand mastery and another for levels 7&13 (5 APR then doubled by improved haste). In vanilla BG2 GM only gives you 0.5 APR extra, but even there you can get to 10 APR by wearing the gauntlets of extraordinary specialisation.
Mmm ok, my bad. I'm getting back on the "no matter the weapon you use" Still, I was asking a build to use "The Brick", which is a Warhammer, you can't get 10APR with this weapon without GWW, or I am missing something else?
Specialization (**) adds +0.5 Grand Mastery (*****) adds +1.0
That means you end up with a maximum of 3.5 APR without bonuses from items.
The Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization add +0.5 APR
Which puts you at 4 APR with any weapon you like.
The missing 1 APR has to be supplied by a bonus from a weapon; either because the weapon adds +APR or via dual-wielding (which is melee only). There is one bow (Tuigan Bow) and one Crossbow (Army Scythe) that add +1 APR. Additionally, some ranged weapons naturally have a higher base APR: darts and throwing daggers, I believe, come with +1APR.
Throwing Hammers should not get any special bonuses, so the most you can get with The Brick is 4 APR before Haste (8 with Improved Haste).
I'm not sure how Boon of Lathander stacks with Improved Haste. I keep forgetting, testing it to find out, and then forgetting again. ¬_¬
@Lord_Tansheron: I think (and just tested) that in BG2EE the specialization and grandmastery bonuses aren't cumulative. So the max is 3.5 APR before Improved Haste.
Also, I was speaking of an Archer using a throwing Warhammer... Archers can't get more and 1pt in warhammer proefficiency... so no specialization and even less a grand mastery

Darts have a base APR of 3, so are another weapon that an archer can use to get 10 APR without GWW. By the time you've taken account of their normal bonuses and the extras from called shot, darts are actually a pretty good option for an archer - especially if in a party where others allow him to make uninterrupted attacks.
