Dear Dee

I call you "dear" not because I know you or you know me, but because the company that you work for has made an incredible game awesome. I appreciate all the work beamdog (except maybe the cat wrangling thing) has done.

The reason for this post is a result of all the closed threads currently on the forum. It has been my experience, that while that the responses to the OP can be all over the political/social/economic scale, (sometimes, perhaps most times, a response without any reflection) the OP, generally has something insightful to say.

When I can say to myself "that's an interesting point, but I never would have seen it buried in 3 pages of replies" shouldn't be given the respect of remaining open?. It seems a shame to close a thread based on "There are a dozen or more other threads about this topic. There's no need for another one." I would suggest to you that if this logic holds true then there is no need for this/these forum(s) at all.

Tl/Dr Discourse reveals more honesty than censorship.

Thread closed?

I hope not.

Well there's only 3 of these threads that I can see atm, so you should be safe for another 9 threads.

I think they're trying to stop potential thread spamming. The trolling on this thread has been minimal compared to some other attacks I've seen, but if every thread is allowed to stay open then people could come in here and intentionally start discussion after discussion in order to push all other discourse off the front page. Remember also that the mods have to monitor these threads and read through every toxic post (including a few of mine, ahem). If they have a small mod staff then it's much more feasible to monitor 2-3 threads with 30 pages than 30 threads with 2-3 pages.

I don't know for sure if that's part of the reasoning, but I'm sure it's a tough line to walk.

I love participating in the discussion about Mizhena, but there's already one excellent thread for it (https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/50420/my-thoughts-on-mizhena-as-a-transgender-person-myself#latest) and the forum doesn't need more.

I was relieved to see other aspects of the game being discussed more yesterday and now I know it's because of @Dee's and @bengoshi's moderation. So thank you for that. While I would love a fleshed out transgender in the Siege of Dragonspear, the game is so much more than that.

@cognoscentus Everyone is free to express his or her views here, but not when it contradicts to the site rules. No thread has been closed without a reason. If people severely violate the site rules, it cannot be unnoticed, and certain measures are taken.

If you have something constructive to add to the forum discussion, then you have every right to do so. But there's no much sense talking about closing threads that are already closed.
