I call you "dear" not because I know you or you know me, but because the company that you work for has made an incredible game awesome. I appreciate all the work beamdog (except maybe the cat wrangling thing) has done.
The reason for this post is a result of all the closed threads currently on the forum. It has been my experience, that while that the responses to the OP can be all over the political/social/economic scale, (sometimes, perhaps most times, a response without any reflection) the OP, generally has something insightful to say.
When I can say to myself "that's an interesting point, but I never would have seen it buried in 3 pages of replies" shouldn't be given the respect of remaining open?. It seems a shame to close a thread based on "There are a dozen or more other threads about this topic. There's no need for another one." I would suggest to you that if this logic holds true then there is no need for this/these forum(s) at all.
Tl/Dr Discourse reveals more honesty than censorship.
Thread closed?
I hope not.

I don't know for sure if that's part of the reasoning, but I'm sure it's a tough line to walk.
Seriously, this stuff is getting ridiculous now, and it's creating a lot of tension that hasn't been seen on this forum. The devs and the forum regulars just want to put it all to bed and get back to normal. The threads in question are just delaying that.
Countless discussions talking about the same thing clutters up the boards and other topics get lost in them.
I was playing through the first dungeon, and couldn't find an item I was asked to find. I remember seeing a topic about it a day ago, but it was so buried that i had to use the search function to find it. If I didn't see the topic earlier, I might have started a new topic adding to this clutter.
I also had to dig up the meme thread from saving it from being drown in repetitive topics not adding anything new to the discussion.
Dee is doing his job. He is making the forums, and the discussions and answers it provides easier to use.
I was relieved to see other aspects of the game being discussed more yesterday and now I know it's because of @Dee's and @bengoshi's moderation. So thank you for that. While I would love a fleshed out transgender in the Siege of Dragonspear, the game is so much more than that.
If you have something constructive to add to the forum discussion, then you have every right to do so. But there's no much sense talking about closing threads that are already closed.
