Hi there. My apologies for necroing a post from 7 years ago, but I felt it imperative to make my contribution to this thread. Upon scrolling through all 15 pages of it, I was genuinely surprised that no one seemed to mention the music that was featured on a popular cop show back in the day. After all, what true 80's experience would be complete without Miami Vice? Here are 4 songs that I know were featured on episodes throughout the iconic series. Fun fact: Both artists featured in this post were guest stars. Thank you.
Okay, another contribution and I'm done. On August 5, 1984, the band Queensrÿche performed live at the Nihon Seinen-Kan in Tokyo, Japan. The recorded live performance was the second of two shows in the same day. One of the songs on the set list was a "song of hope". It has been hailed as arguably the best live rock/metal performance ever. Vocal coaches have reacted to it. Music teachers have reacted to it. Both amateur and opera singers have reacted to it. All of them can agree Geoff Tate's vocal talents and technical skills were fantastic at that time. Chris DeGarmo's ability to harmonize with Tate in his range was a feat unto itself and should not be overlooked. Ladies and gentlemen, let us all Take Hold of the Flame. \m/ https://youtu.be/xk84dVq644k?si=6af9Z1nyZUiznFrv
This song is a cover of the one that was written and originally performed by the Dutch band Golden Earring. In my opinion, both songs rock. White Lion just added its "teeth" to it so to speak. Reminds me of when I'm navigating around the drivers who love to go slow in the far-inside lane of traffic on I-4. I especially love the cats who intentionally speed up at the last second just to try to keep me from getting in front of them. Jackasses. https://youtu.be/KFMyJxluMYQ?si=CthXbqVkoQqxyBnT
Here's another song by White Lion. It makes me think of a weary, battle-worn knight or paladin who lost a brother-in-arms or his actual brother. He seeks out the "Lady of the Valley" (most likely a cleric or druidess) in the hope she can resurrect his fallen brother/comrade. I love these heavy, mystical 80's rock ballads that tell a story from the perspective of the singer being the main character of the story. I used to enjoy listening to this song when I was younger because of how much it rocks. After reading the lyrics to the song and understanding their meaning as an older man, the song hits so much deeper to the point of bringing me to cry manly Kenshiro tears when I listen to it. No, I am not ashamed to say when a song makes me cry. It's part of being human. Be blessed, be safe, stay healthy. https://youtu.be/KOC8WuQjMgo?si=D-oAu-yEKBpHaKc_
