I'm transgender. I often play trans character or no-gender-conforming character when I can. I mostly never play cis gender conforming character unless i'm MJ.
And even if nobody play transgender character (which it's false) doesn't mean they don't exist in the Realms.
Nobody play this strange "gnome" people but I always end up on one in all vidéo game (that a joke. Don't take this seriously).
There no lore-based reason for trans characters to not exist. There a lot of lore-based reason for trans characters existence (starting by the fact there Gender, the only way I see to have a reason for the non-existence of transgender people is a complet and total agender world). And the creator of the Realms himself and WotC say "Of course yes they exist ! What a silly question".
More than enough for put a yes on this question.
(To beat clear I can understand the question, hoping this message wasn't aggressive that not the goal)
It really seems like a non-issue to me. The attention focused on that one character just adds to all the "noise" around the game right now, which distracts from discussion about the merits/flaws of the game itself. Things do seem to be settling down a bit though, so that's good.
I am always suspicious of people who talk on behalf of others, and my suspicion-ometer increases in direct proportion to the amount of people being 'represented'.
I might be a tad suspicious of someone talking on behalf of themselves and their husband, and I might be a whole lot more suspicious of someone talking on behalf of everyone in the world called Tim!
But its so tempting to do (I know because I'm often doing this very thing myself), so here goes.....
I think the mood on the forums is changing. It seems that 'shock' and 'outrage' is fast dissipating. New threads have (almost) stopped popping up. When I wake up and stroll over to the forums in the morning their might be 20 new posts on the top thread whereas at the height of Baldurs-Gate-Gate there might have been 200!
Maybe people just don't have the energy/motivation to continue engaging with all the political agenda threads and throat shoving threads and cultural war threads and so on and so on.
Maybe people's energies are better spent thinking about.... ohhhh I don't know.... whether Carthage should be destroyed?
Wait? What? Their is a poll currently underway in the off topic category on this very subject? No way! What are the chances of that!
On a addition note : if you are in search for trans NPC in rpg (paper and table) Amber Scott wrote some one in a pathfinder campaign (which is more or less D&D the other 4). I'll try to re find the name when I have time for if you're interrested.
You can also just remember that many already written NPCs can be trans. Unless there a strong background reason for saying they're not. We doesn't need an explicite written "this character is cisgender" sentence in their backgrounds for thinking they are. So the same can apply for trans characters (Also work for other LGBT letter)

This is unsanctioned use of trolling.
All involved will be held, this disturbance is over.
