    Hi @evilcook
If you haven't rebooted since install please can you try that. If you still have the same issue could you run dxdiag e.g. from a CMD window, save all information and attach the results here please. Also advise whether this is a Steam, Beamdog or GoG purchase.
    Thanks

    Steam.

OK. While we look at that, could you try the below.

    1. Set alternate renderer.
Options -> Graphics -> Alternate renderer (presumably it is currently disabled). Once set you need to click Done -> Quit Game -> Quit, then restart the game.

    2. Zip and attach a save from before the crash so we can see if there is anything specific to it.

    3. Check if there is a crash report in your documents/infinity engine - enhanced edition with a time matching your latest crash. Zip and attach that file if there is one.

    Thanks

I think this is what you wanted.

Alright, hopefully that should help us work out what's going on.

As a first step, I've run through the meeting with Gaelan to confirm the save plays through. Having done that, I made another save which you may be able to use to continue while we investigate. Let us know whether it works.

Are you getting any message with the crash. Background to that at the link below.

Just the .DMP file thing and as soon as I click OK the game shuts down.It does it right when the screen goes dark and you're supposed to be going to the house.I played BG:EE and SoD right before this with no problems.

Are you playing in single player or multiplayer mode?
  • evilcookevilcook Member Posts: 17
    Single.
  • evilcookevilcook Member Posts: 17
I still have the original BG 2 DISC and played them probably over 10 times but wanted to try the EE version.

Another save, this time outside Gaelan's house after speaking to him, in case it is him or his location causing issues.
  • evilcookevilcook Member Posts: 17
Now I'm in the slums zone but I can't any of the houses or the Copper Coronet.
  • evilcookevilcook Member Posts: 17

What files are in the override folder in your game installation directory?
(and according to your DXDiag file, there are more current drivers available at AMD)
  • evilcookevilcook Member Posts: 17
I went ahead and installed the Beta drivers and I don't see a override folder.

Does everywhere else work apart from houses in the slums. e.g. if you head to another district is everything OK there?
  • evilcookevilcook Member Posts: 17
I went to a few zones and was able to enter houses and seems like it's contained to the Slums.
  • evilcookevilcook Member Posts: 17
I also noticed all the zones are uncovered now.

Right, it sounds like the slums area may be corrupted in your install. I assumed my save would have all the relevant info in it but perhaps not.

I'd say it is worth using the "verify integrity of game cache" in Steam (to be found from a right click of the game in Steam, click properties then local files).

i have this exact same problem, freezes/crashes when gaelan bayle invites me to his house. had no problems before i got the update 2.0 did we figure out exactly why this happens? i noticed Evilcook stopped posting...
  • Gate70Gate70 Member, Developer Posts: 3,883
Hi @rikkysixx could you provide/check the below please.
Please zip & attach a save.
Is this single player or multiplayer.
    Language (English?)
Was the game started on the current build.
Do you have any mods installed.
    What platform (pc/mac/linux).
Where did you purchase from (Beamdog, Steam, GoG).
If Beamdog can you right click the game in the launcher, go to game location and delete the 783.beam and 783.status files then close and restart the launcher so your install is re-checked.
If Steam can you verify the integrity of cache (right click game -> properties -> local files).
    Thanks

Hi I'm new here already tried the alternate renderer which sadly didn't help much.
    - I play single player
    - in English
    - I started it with the latest patch
    - I have no mods installed
    - using a PC
    - purchased it on GoG
    - Using Win 10 if that's in any way relevant
I really hope there's a workaround for this or that it get's adressed in a possible upcoming patch.

Thanks in advance for any help

@Niederath your save also played through OK for me. I suspect you may have the same issue with areas in the Slums.

Could you check the attached save with a) the Copper Coronet and b) Gaelan Bayle's house please.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick answer Gate70!
I used your savegame but I can't enter Gaelan's House, the Copper Coronet or any other building.
If I try to leave the area, the game crashes.
I can only interact with barrels, doors and talk to npcs.

i am a bit computer illiterate and i dont understand half the things you are asking me to do...i think im just gonna go back to patch 1.3 thanks for trying though... I liked how smooth the new graphics were, but honestly the character and stats menus were a little too difficult anyways. hey its only money i can get more, and i do appreciate more attention being paid to this game it was the best rpg ever. consider the money i spent on the game (twice) a donation..
  • Gate70Gate70 Member, Developer Posts: 3,883
OK, thanks both. We'll keep looking at this.

@evilcook your dxdiag output is indicating you may not have directx 9.0c installed, ref "D3D9 Overlay: Not Supported"

Please could you try installing this alongside directx 11, link is https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
    Thanks

    @Niederath and @rikkysixx
(you were going back to 1.3 but I'm hoping the below is clear enough to follow).

Press Windows key and R key to open the Run window, type dxdiag and click OK
Click 'save all information' to save a text file output
Select 'desktop' on the left then click save
Resize your browser window so you can see the desktop and the browser together
drag the dxdiag.txt file into the browser 'leave a comment' window.

    Thanks
