Speaking of lack of non-european characters portraits, I have quite the collection courtesy of 2 ladies which art I'm very fond of, MiLeah and Enkida. Here's some of my favorites, because diversity is awesome.
There are really no good "realistic-painted" half-orc pics out there (almost). So I went on a search, which took me about a week :P Eventually I found this. This is for me an INCREDIBLE good HALF-orc portrait (it has that realistic look without becoming a "photo") , and none of the existing ones come close. Just thought I should share it!
To me it fits BG like a glove (needed some cutting though).
I believe these are mostly made from celebrities. The artist calls him/herself "Phaere". These portraits are cropped by me for BG. They were originally made for NWN. I personally think he/she succeded in copying the "colour/lighting" of BG portraits, for example the hands and such.
@Greenpakto You have good taste, Phaere is quite the star in NWN vault. Thanks for taking the time to edit and share those. Most of NWN portraits are in tga format, but it's worth it to convert some to bmp for BG use.
I'm playing a Blackguard whose portrait is made by Phaere for a NWN2 module.
My Undead Hunter by Amalthea, portrait also from NWN vault
Watching armored (real armor!) ladies kick Irenicus ass never gets old.

Thank you, and you to! And I forgot to upload that blackguard one, indeed one of her/his finest! Btw, do you have the whole collection from "MiLeah's" now offline site? There are some really good ones that I cant find anymore. Some are scattered around, but some are completely gone from the net... Would you mind upload the whole set? Maybe in a rar file if there are to many?
@Foggy Do you have a link to MiLeah's website or Deviantart? The bottom left picture could make a good alt for Yoshimo.
Her site is GONE. Deleted from the web. Thats why I asked if he could post all art from her Her deviant art only holds 2 portraits of her collection of 25 plus portraits.

http://ftg386.deviantart.com/ but you won't find much there: MiLeah took down her site for personal reasons. Sadly since it was acting like a hub for all her portraits they are rare to come by now. I have all the collection but I can only post the Portraits of the Protagonist that were already published - Around 40 portraits that are for BG fans- I fear she's nowhere to be reached now to give permission to post the other portraits. Will get to it after Isandir finish posting his DSotSC updated portraits, because he's a portrait god and should get all the attention.
Anyway, there is another artist which is pretty good from NWN vaults. "Wycked". I might as well post some of his better work as well (I have cropped them to fit BG), while awaiting more portraits from the pros "Isandir" and "Syntia13. Some of these fit BG perfectly. Some not, but still decent.
@Greenpakto Keep them coming, and if you happen upon any of Amalthea art on NWN vault, please feel free to share. O and Wycked is also a she, a norwegian lady @Fablewynd A fellow Nightwish fan, nice.
Revision #8: Thorfinn. I never want to see this portrait again. It took longer than any of the others thus far, and I'm still not fully happy with the result. The armor I had used in the original version never quite meshed as I wanted it to, so I decided to scrap it and try something else. Given his description as a young mercenary, the look in the new version seemed more appropriate.
@Meepichi: Just keep posting! If you look back at some of the earlier pages in this thread, you'll see that a lot of my work was far less than good when I started. Although I had used Photoshop for two or three years at the time, I hadn't attempted to make portraits. It just takes practice, and the group that tends to frequent this thread is highly supportive.
@Kamigoroshi: Does that mean we need a bearded version of Aerie?
@Foggy & @Greenpakto: Thanks for posting all of those fantastic images. I've encountered very little of Mileah's work, but based on what I have seen, she's one of my favorites. Does anyone know why she stopped? Phaere is spot-in in respect to the Neverwinter Nights style.
Also, Nightwish is great. Kamelot (particularly the Khan era) is even better.
@Isandir But of course! In fact, I always figured that Aerie is in fact Quayle under a permanent illusion spell. And I believe braided sideburns would suit 'her'. :P

I should have guessed it was a girl

@Isandir: That is one epic portrait, love the hand and sword (and the face recieved a major upgrade)! There is one flaw I can see though, being a perfectionist and all, the armour shoulder is not quite aligned to the right of the sword, compared to the left side of the sword. It looks a little weird. As if it is two different pieces meshed together. Not sure you see what I mean? Cause I explain shitty :P Anyway, hope to see more, the portraits are beginning to look more and more like BG style (though actually some are closer to bg2 style)!
I've always liked this picture, but I've always been convinced that the face was actually a man's (specifically, Ioan Gruffudd of Fantastic Four fame).

@Kamigoroshi *Mind Blown*... Omg! What has Charname done!! The HORROR!!
Well.. getting back after not playing for a while.. using custom portraits for all the old NPCs... but don't have one for Branwen and she's kinda sticking out a bit here. Anyone have any suggestions? The pic is to give an idea of the type of portraits I go for.
Revision #9: Morik. One of the two NPCs who were left out of the original release, Morik was described to me as sallow-faced Thayvian with the scalp tattoos typical of his countrymen. My first version simply ended up being very dark due to the model's image, which was practically black around the eyes. I had to redraw that entire area and add new eyes that were similar to the original picture. The tattoo was actually made from four different tattoos, all arranged to blend together into a cohesive whole.
@Greenpakto: Actually, you hit on the exact reason why Thorfinn's picture was annoying me. When looking at the image as a whole (unconstrained by the portrait dimensions), it actually made perfect sense. I'll upload an alternate version to my website that moves the sword a bit and adds some chainmail under the leather to fool the eye a bit more.
@Isandir, I love your work! A question though: I take it you intentionally aim for the more glossy style of BG1 rather than the (quite criticized) pastel BG2 style?

@Isandir I'm not really sold on Thorfinn's pose. He's holding his sword like one would hold a knife. I understand you wanted to show the hand on the picture instead of just the blade alone, but it looks awkward to me.
I was a bit surprised by the lack of enthusiasm on this thread for my new Tiefling - he took me for ever to make and I hold him as my best work yet (thanks to @Meepitchi for your like though!). However, when you have the speed up...
Neera is a great character, both in BG1 and BG2. A long, compelling and rewarding story, and a romance at that! But her picture?! Seriously? I was so disappointed when I first saw it, and it hasn't felt better since. Apparently I'm not the only one, as both @vierrae and @So_Low made a request from a photo I'd never seen earlier. I gave it my second best shot (as the Tiefling is still my best)!
It is time for you to meet the new, sexy and often quite dangerous Wild Mage Neera:
As you hopefully notice, I've tried to stay true to the original when possible. I thought a tattered robe perfect for a Mage prone to "accidents". The pattern is not exactly the same as in the original, but it's there.
Her ear isn't visible but I've made sure to make her eye more elven (and much less drugged). The background has a wild magic/static electricity-quality to it, and all the colors are roughly the same. I've left the cropping up to you though, as people seem to have very different preferences there.

Now us dudes we can't click like on the self portrait of another guy, can we , now Neera on the other hand.. Still, great tiefling portrait. Keep posting!
