A SoD question about Dynaheir. *Spoilers*

How does she die?

Believe it or not, one of the things I looked forward to most was how Minsc fails to protect Dynaheir.

I finished SoD for the first time earlier in the week (slow playing as I worked on www.siegeofdragonspear.wordpress.com *a shameless plug*). CHARNAME escapes Baldur's Gate, meets up with the gang, then we get ambushed *end credits*.

I plan on playing through several more times, but did I miss something?

Minsc says in BG2 that Irenicus or his servants tortured her to death.

I do not remember that. Repressed youth I suppose.

You don't remember it because he didn't say it. He strongly implies she was killed in the battle when CHARNAME was captured.

It is speculated that Irenicus tortured Khalid to death, but then Imoen says he was already dead when his body was dissected.

No, Artemius is right. The first time you meet Minsc in BG2, if you ask him where Dynaheir is, he says that "they" tortured her to death. They = Irenicus or his servants.

Actually, not quite. he doesn't say "they" tortured her to death only that they killed her as he watched. He talks about her being trapped as a metaphor, but doesn't say whether she was actually taken prisoner or killed before they could restrain her.

I've always taken it as her being tortured to death, but unless he specifies that later, it doesn't seem to be clear.

Who they were implies this was during the ambush since he would remember if it were Jon. Also the trapped part is definitely a metaphor, "trapped by my failure," that line to be fair is a fantastic line which should belong in a play somewhere.

Imagine Baldur's Gate as a Play XD

That's more of what I remember; wiggle room for the imagination.

I have to admit, it feels like a failed opportunity by the writers. They could have doubled down on the speculation, revealed something, or had some kind of cut scene or battle. They neglected or decided not to use those options. Shame.

Unlike Khalid, we don't see her body on the wrack or anything, so we can't assume she was tortured to death. All we can assume is that Minsc saw her die.

I remember Khalid was killed in a way that he couldn't be raised, which seems to imply that Den suffered a different fate and was just killed outside Baldur's Gate when everyone got abducted (and left there). Also, Den could slow poison so it'd be harder to drug her...
