I really should have thought this through before I gave an answer.......

Although I come late to the party
I entertain with my dry wit
While ale both confuses and enlightens me

    (hint: I like cryptic crosswords)

The man I loved cursed me.
You'll get to know him, a charming guy.
Only my pets stand by me now,
    I might as well die.

    "A mother is a goddess in a child's eyes."
    But not I.
    That was your father.

    I have many recipes.
You find me trapped in my own little hell, not in yours.
Later you find me trapped in the nuthouse.

    @Jarrakul Yeps!

You can find his book of recipes in his cabin.
Being caught in that tiny cabin for a few centuries, surrounded by wolfweres, is a pretty good description of hell to me.
And of course later you meet him in Spellhold, aka. The Asylum.

I can block your path, or I can open it up.
Offer me too little, and I won't help you.
Offer too much, and I won't believe you.
After all, who can I trust in a place like this?

Unlike the rest of my kind you stumble upon, I reject violence.
I look identical to someone you might have fought in the past.
If you behave, I will gladly help you. However, if you misbehave, I will not help you.

    The Spectator Beholder?
  • semiticgoddesssemiticgoddess Member Posts: 14,903
It can't be the Beholder. He doesn't reject violence; he just says he's got no particular desire to do it. He's perfectly willing to kill those imps.
