How does Celestial Fury scale into ToB?

Is Celestial Fury a viable end-game main weapon, only being +3?

It's not 'upgradeable' (unlike some other weapons when you get to ToB) but it is still a formidable weapon (imo).

Shit, that's way less than I would have thought! Thanks. (Kinda wish I waited for your response before getting long swords + short swords when dualling my Swashbuckler into a fighter. - Completely off topic, but apparently if you import a dualled character into bg2, the active class gets boosted up to 89k exp, even if your inactive class has 160k exp.)

Here's the incredibly long list of enemies immune to +3 weapons:
    - The Ravager
    - Demilich (only 2 of them, Kangaxx and WK's one)
    - Aurumach Rilmani (WK's last fight before Demogorgon)
    - The end game Solar (you are not supposed to fight her)
That's it, 4 enemies in the entire game. (credit goes to @Demivrgvs )

So, Celestial Fury is perfectly viable in terms of being a +3 weapon.

But I encourage you to look on damage comparison: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comment/666848/#Comment_666848 by @semiticgod

    - The big bad demon the matron mothers are in league with.
    - Demogorgon
    - Melissan ?

    Or am I remembering wrong?

Anyways that was a shorter list than I imagined.

You might have wished you'd waited even longer when you start to think about a certain bastard sword that CAN be upgraded.

Yeah I always thought Melissan and Demogorgon require +4
Also improved mantle will block CF in vanilla, whereas a +4 will cut through it.

The big demon even requires +5 weapons, along with the Death Shade summoned from the DoMT.
I just doublechecked and you can definitely hit Amelyssan with a +3 weapon.
I have no save under my arm but I am pretty sure Demogorgon is the same.

I'm not too sure but it's a fair bet that of those enemies requiring +4 or better, most are also immune to stuns - which makes CF pointless. Same with bosses like Mel and D-Gog.

CF's only use is stunning things, as its damage is nothing to write home about. It does that job very well, though, even in ToB.

Demogorgon is +4 req according to Dsimpson guide. I think I remember getting alot of "weapon ineffective" when fighting him. too.

    - uddemon is immune to +4 weapons but vulnerable to +3 ones, demlord wasimmune to +5 but vulnerable to both +3 and +4 (I have to check if EE changed them)
    - Demogorgon is vulnerable to +3 weapons
    - Melissan is vulnerable to +3 weapons

Amelyssan is definitely immune to +3 weapons with Ascension installed.
Maybe some people remember it that way from there?

+3 weapons are fine for all but a few fights in the entire saga

Celestial Fury is among the best 1h weapons in the game from the moment you equip it until the end of ToB.

The stun is potentially the best effect on any weapon

Stun is a ridiculously powerful effect. CF does allow save, and vs. spell, too, which curbs its power somewhat - still, often you only need it to connect once for the enemy to be effectively dead right then and there. With high APR, you can stunlock even bosses like Chromatic Demon practically forever.

I concur with all of the above, and Celestial Fury dual-wielded with the Belm scimitar brings even more devastation (just as a reminder, Belm in off-hand adds one additional attack from the main hand weapon). My Fighter-Thief never leaves home without these two amazing weapons :-)
