Noob questions, about in-game hour, day and casting time.

How long is a in-game hour, I also heard that a in-game day is 12 hours, is that correct?
How long is 1 to 9 casting time exactly?
Thank you.

    1 Day = 24 Hour = 120 turns = 1200 rounds = 7200 seconds
    1 hour = 5 Turns = 50 rounds = 300 seconds
    1 turn = 10 rounds = 60 seconds
    1 round = 6 seconds

I like to think of casting 1 to casting 9 to really mean 10% of a round and 90% of a round. Anything with a casting time of 1 tends to go off practically instantly, while a casting time of 9 takes almost the entire round.

It's one reason you don't heal mid-combat unless you need to. By the time you finish your ominous latin chanting the person you want to heal could be dead.

    Thanks guys.
Still not sure about the casting time though.
What about the speed factor, it's from 0 to 10, how many seconds can they be?

Speed factor again is more of a percentage thing. Factor 0 strike first in a round, while factor 10 strike at the very end of a round. 0% - 100%.

If a fighter wielding Halberd with a speed factor of 9 using GW, will the remaining 10% of 6 seconds long enough to get 10 swings?
So maybe there's something else to it.

Having more than 1 APR tend to break things up all weird like. Indeed, there is SOMETHING else going on behind the scenes, but that's beyond a simple answer.

I have a speculation that SF is somehow related to APR :-)

The casting time for spells is directly related to the round - so a casting time of 1 is 10% of a round as JumboWheat01 said.

Speed factor for weapons is more complex. The lower the speed factor, the quicker (on average) you will make your first attack. However, the game also rolls a random initiative factor each round so it's possible that you will attack slower than an enemy even if they have a slightly worse speed factor. As Islandking mentions the number of APR is also relevant. In order to enable the game to process 10 APR in a round a slow weapon speed weapon will start attacking much more quickly if using a GWW than if just attacking at 2 or 3 APR.

The UI for the game also doesn't clearly show what your weapon speed is. The standard weapon speeds for weapons are in the manual, but magical weapons normally (not always) reduce these by the extent of their THAC0 bonus - so a +2 halberd would have a speed of 7 not 9. Weapon proficiencies and style proficiencies can also alter that value significantly and some classes (like kensai) have bonuses as well.
