Returning to Icewind Dale

So, I'm looking at doing my first run in over 15 years, and I want a party that maximizes content and dialogue options. My understanding is that a paladin, a druid, and a bard in the party are important in achieving that end.
Aside from vacillating between regular bard and skald, I'm wondering about dialing a fighter into the druid. Will I miss out on content if I don't have the druid class right from the beginning? If I were to cut over at, say, Level 7, would I be missing out on any druid-specific opportunities or dialogue?
I'll still be grappling with what to put on the other three spots, of course. I need a thief of some sort in there (FMT?); I'd love to have a specialist archer; there's an axe-wielding gnomish beserker I've wanted to unleash (they call him...The Thumberjack); and I'm afraid that I'll regret not bringing a regular cleric (probably a fighter multi). That's already four guys looking to fill three spots, and I haven't ruled out bringing a sorcerer. Too many good choices.
Anyway, light spoilers are welcome on the druid question. Thanks.
